Eh sparks and personality components can be grabbed out of blown up transformers and put into new bodies. That's what happened to Soundwave in Japanese G1 and the Combaticons and a bit in Beast Wars.

You know, weirdly enough, this Optimus voice is really nice. It sounds nothing like Peter Cullen, but it has that same "soft, gentle, but firm" vibe that his voice does. I hear this guy speaking and I can very clearly hear that this is the leader of the Autobots. Really well done

Yeah, he sounds a bit more like Gary Chalk's take on Optimus than Peter's. Although he does kind of sound like G1 Optimus, which is fitting for the images being used.
I love that they have a medic bot, but the "basic procedure" is still just to immediately go to beating the guy to death.

to be fair, they're an intergalactic race capable of subverting the very laws of physics... and they almost destroyed their entire race over a "lack of energy." Megatron went from being "the good guy" to space Hitler. For some reason their physiology allows them to transform into ANYTHING, but only about 3 or 4 of them actually transform into anything OTHER than one thing. Somehow, they're not that smart...

And he is chronically addicted to Transformation, switching back and forth from Robot and Tank Mode so much that he LITERALLY breaks the vital component that allows him to transform, which he replaces using Spare Cogs he obtains from his violently mutilated victims.

They're lead by Tarn, who is somewhat addicted to modifications and transforming. (He's got double Ion Cannons because he admires Megatron) Since he burns out his T-cogs so often, he replaces them with ones stolen from their victims.

I think he means more like in the third issue of the original comic, the one with spider-man in it, where Gears falls from a mountain and gets completely shattered into a bunch of parts... And Spidey is shocked that none of the Autobots are sad, and they're just like "Why would we be sad? We can just pick up the pieces and fix him up later". Stuff that would be evil, crass or shocking to us but that for a functionally immortal living metamorphing giant robot would be just "eh, that's just how it goes".

Talk about the Basic Procedure and how it's always been a thing before the war days and that it was like the one thing traditional to both sides. Uhhh, no we don't, "planned obsolescence" has seen to that.
To be fair, that's a pretty recent trend compared to the original Gen-1 Transfomers, but still agreed. I'm sick and tired of this "Own nothing and be happy" era of technology where the companies who you buy it from have already sabotaged it with proprietary malware before it even leaves the box.

Most of the Autobots transform into cars. People do fix their cars when they break down. And the Decepticons are mostly military hardware, again, those things get fixed. Nobody throws away a tank or a jet fighter if it can be reasonably fixed.
Now Soundwave? He's f***ec. He transforms into a piece of consumer electronics. He breaks down, in the trash with him.

"umm, actually" in Transformers there's a thing called T-cog, or transformation cog, which, in some fictions, can be replaced when a cybertronian's transformation is malfunctioning... But that didn't exist in G1, so we can go with basic procedure.
Edit: actually it was in G1... But only in season 3, we can follow basic procedure because this seems to be before that
One cog? Considering the probably hundreds of parts that need to move around in order to turn a mech into a car, how the hell would one cog do this? That's very silly.
Actually it did exist in G1, but they didn't specify it til season 3. It was a plotline for Metroplex and Trypticon several times.

But anyways, our brain is one organ that controls our entire body movement and thoughts, so I can buy a fictional race of alien robots having one organ-like part that controls their ability to shift into other shapes like vehicles and animals
