Claire & Jeremy GOT US LOST.. For Riel! | Back roads & Hmong villages E26
Taking a very rural back road from Phaxai to Thaviang then into Xaysomboun, we find ourselves making wrong turns and the trail becoming very narrow as we start to wonder if we're going to make it out. This track follows a river which is the border between Xiengkhouang and Xaysomboun and those who use it only do so because they have to.. not once did we pass another car. In places, the road that narrow we had to walk the trail to make sure it continued.. an EPIC adventure! Enjoy

Music:
Todd as always a ripper of a episode! We thought it as more of a scenic loop than lost 😅
Jeremy was extremely uncertain we could get through, "one in a million chance" I think his words were. 🤔
Great 👍🙂
As always - Excellent b&w stills!!
took me 3 mins to see the little one :-)
Great ride, Todd. Thanks for taking usw with you!
No worries.. cheers mate 🍻
Epic wonderful video
Thank you Todd and Nee Nee, this has to rack as one of the greatest video of all time. I enjoyed the parts of Loa that is not normally shown.
So do we Wally, so do we.. Thanks mate 👍
Great to see two of my favorite travel vloggers team up for awesome adventures. Drone footage is spectacular, music spot on, still photo recap very cool.❤
Thank you..
More to come 👍
Thanks 🥰
It was a extremely special trip and one we will always remember ❤
E 26 has so many beautiful views and surprises. Thank you for sharing all of these great adventures with us. I'll be around for E 27 as well. Black and white photos are still my most cherished and I actually screen shoot them and share them to bring awareness to your channel and to depict the lives of Lao people. Thanks again, Todd.
Thank you. See ya in the next one 😉
That is quite the hotel for under $10 and includes a rooftop terrace with amazing views and complementary breakfast. Was great seeing Claire and Jeremy with you. I have been subscribed to their great channel for a long time.
Very well priced👌 They're with us for the rest of this trip.. rielly nice couple 😆👍
Thanks so much. It was one of the best hotels we stayed at, had some beautiful kittens to play with also.
yep, that road I'd have been walking too... or else cleaning my drawers quite often... all the guys with rifles.. would've been a bit hairy too.
The drop into the river was pretty scary 😨
They locals with guns was different but they all seemed very happy to see us 😊
What an adventurous back Rd.......and fantastic views.......at stages I thought you might of had to turn around......but the track came right .......this mean I don't get a Sunday Arvo video 😁
Jeremy was sure we were going the wrong way 😆 You know me too well.. feverishly working on the next one for Monday Arvo viewing 🤞
Thanks Lesley 👍
"One in a million chance" was his exact works 😂😅
Mina is a fish! Insisting on swimming in the river LOL. Beautiful countryside but you have nerves of steel to drive on that road.
Mina was extremely excited everytime we saw the water, it was freezing 🥶
What a great adventure. One of the most enjoyable videos!
Thank Chris 😊
Thank you for sharing Tod .
Well, if you're going to choose a person to clear rocks in front of your trail, I guess "one hand, flick it away, too easy, Jeremy" is your man.
"The human excavator" 👌😆
Jeremy was more than happy to walk the trail😅 It got very Riel in some part 😊
Great video. Phousy in the list of Lao places to visit later this year.
Real off roading in the troopy. I'm waiting for the Ho Chimin track off road trip in the troopy. That river valley was a bit like some Aussie High Country rivers - spectacular.
Yeah I'm looking forward to that trip now David 👌
That's the kind of road I like to ride, grab a couple 30pks of beer, some food and a BBQ an make a day or few out of it.
Both guns I seen in the vid were AK's.
Yeah, great road.. now that I know it's doable, would love to do it again and stay by that river for a night or two 👌
Wow Todd, that road was heart in mouth stuff, but Troopy managed it so well. The whole vlog had wonderful moments and that pristine jungle on the other side of the river made me realise how little of this is left throughout the world! A worrying thought as climate change seems to be taking hold over the last couple of years. The scenery was fantastic and the river added to the splendour and majesty of the mountains. Glad I wasn't in the truck that caused that road to give way! Claire and Jeremy are great travel companions and Mina gets on with them so well. Loved the way Mina decided to have a swim. As always, thanks for sharing ands those 26 episodes seem to have flown by. God bless the 3 of you 😀❤🙏
It was a very special trip for us. We will never forget the amazing time we had❤😊
@ 7 mins , first waring sign :-) Google maps only has so much info :-)
No phone reception at all for most of it and almost impossible to turn around 😮
@@ForRiel Hmm had that ' no going back ' feeling in a Malawian nature reserve . Had a large male elephant across the the ' track' , switch off engine and wait for him to move :-)
My niece and her swimming! 😂😅❤❤❤ Now you've put Troopy to the work for which it was intended. Good on ya! Lol looked fun
HI Tod, Neenee and Mina what a great experience
Tod as you would know in Oz we call tracks like that a "bloody goat track"
You're right.. was a bloody goat track 😆
Wow, I see a beautiful Miao/ Hmong dog, that dog has been with the Hmong for generations.
Still loving your videos keep it up uncle Todd. 👍🏽
The Troopy looked like it was not even breaking a sweat just happily crawling along on the rough trails saying is that all you got? Ha Ha. Very majestic views....kinda reminded be of the mountains in Krabi Thailand. Take care
What really makes your videos so good is not only the music selection but your editing is awesome. I mean you make it very interesting to watch you're not just driving around talking you're actually editing and music selection you're very interesting your family is beautiful I can continue on with the compliments keep up with the good work mate 🤠
I'm not stopping you.. continue, please. Hahaha.. thank you, always nice to hear feedback like this. Have a great day 😉
Excellent tables,,loved the rooftop one,,but the sheer size of the other table is mind blowing
Road 23 definitely looked sketchier.....but this was damn close!! 🤣
Wow what a wonderful wonderful adventure I love this video mr Todd wonderful 👍👍👍
Glad you enjoyed it
Great video and wonderful photos
Thanks mate
That sure is akin to the back of beyond mate. Those roads are better than some of ours as you'd know. Awesome scenery and rivers a really great trek thru the mountains. Think Mina is a mermaid just can't stay out of water. Bushyboy Oz.
what a amazing adventure. I'm jealous of claire and Jeremy. if you want to ever start a jungle tour business I'd like to be your first customer.
It was truly a honour to go on tour with the Now in Lao crew. Hopefully we can catch up again for another adventure soon 🙏 ❤😊
I love your back roads adventures. Everything you see are always tourist spots. Good work, always kook forward to new video's.
Cheers mate.. glad to hear that 👍
Beautiful scenery
Ventura Highway, my arse!!!😅 What a great drive. Looking forward to getting back to Thailand next week and driving out Fortuner around the countryside.shoukd get 15,000km done in the 5 months we have over there this year. I miss Laos though, have been there a few times and have a very good friend that I met over there years ago when he was a monk. Now he's a tour guide for Japanese visitors. Hope to catch up with him and his family one day soon. Keep up the great videos.😊 Great to see Mina surrounded by so much love. 🥰

Thank you 😊
🤗🙏🏼!
Great video, enjoyed it.
Have a great weekend.
It was a Quick Look at that gun the fellow was carrying. I'm no expert but because I have one, it looks like an SKS. The rifle version of the AK47. Been a while since I have seen one in Lao. Used to see them in the north on back roads. Usually the folks I have seen with them were Hmong. So much for the law.
Breathtaking nature! I'd love to visit sometimes and trek.
Happy Hmong New Year. What a super series this has been Todd. Love the black and white stills and the great music. It all rocks! 👍👍👍👍 Jim and Harriet
Thanks guys. Stay well 🙏
Great video of the countryside.
Very stunning dense forest and flowing water to compliment it all. Going off the concrete road ( broken up)would not of a good thing. Kenno
the rifle at QUICK glance is Chinese-made Type 56 AK
Also thanks for taking us along on this trip. I agree that it was this was a great adventure. I would have love to be there with you. Maybe sometimes in the future. Did you feel scare or uncomfortable at all seeing the guys with the AK47s? especially on backroads like that? Did you feel safe?
My father-in-law said that after the fall of Long Cheng, a lot of the Hmong soldiers and their families took refuge on Phou Bia. I'm not sure if they went there went there to hide and/or went there to take up strategic positions. But the Pathet Lao would come and try to force them down. There were many fierce battles before they were force to fee. He said that a lot of people died on the mountain. Sad Story.
Good day, Tedd and thanks for sharing your video I love it mate 👍
Looks like pretty good overland there my friend 😅
Best place for getting lost in 😉
hi guys
Hi mate 👋
Well ol mate that road looked as tough as the road we travelled from Phonosavan to Long Tieng. You did make it to Xaysoboum though.🤣
Hahaha one better than you 😝
@@NowinLao Yeah smashed there Todd.
Someone covers Van the Man very nicely. His chubby Irish arse is smiling somewhere! 😂
