I apologise in advance to everyone for my terrible joker impression that I embarrassingly left in the video when playing around with the mic after all! I’ll be over here hanging my head in shame! Also I’d like to note, I keep saying Warlord purple on the basing out of the flesh bits but it is XERXES PURPLE. My apologies!
Now I know why they say Australians can't paint. I realize that he even admitted he went too hard on the whole rust thing, but come on man, your killing all your details.
Oh man, you have Death Guard here, and even Deathwing, and Ravenwing. With this purple Dark Angel this is full set for me. You are King, I'm telling you.
Nice take on the grimdark. I've been looking for this effect, now I can use this to dirty up my too clean Plague Marines. Adding multiple coats of Streaking Grime and Rust Streaks should give me what I'm looking for. Thanks.
I hope this works for you, I don’t see why it wouldn’t, it just gives that built up grime and dirt look I found! Looking forward to seeing your work on them with before and afters!
@@dingwootsdenofpaints4432 At some point soon i'll be posting some more detailed versions of methods like that rust technique on my new patreon page, so if something like that interests you in the future ill be sure to send you a link! This tutorial video should definitely help you in the mean time though! Just get in and get your hands dirty! Not much hard yakka required haha
I had not thought to use those haha, I usually just spend tedious hours picking them back off once I get sick of them haha. Thank you for that suggestion!!
@@grimdarkaustralia i usualy get them on amazon... 100's for cheap. try and get soft foam not rough. depending on how dense the foam is you might find dabbing rather than wiping slightly moistened with white / mineral spirits a slightly better approach... or as in my case i dilute streaking grime a little less than 2 : 1 (i usually go grime : spirits; 4 : 1), apply with airbrush and let dry a bit before clean up.
I’ve been working on a heap of stuff outside of commission painting and tutorials. It’s halted my painting for the short term but ultimately it will help me do it more in the long term! Setting up a shop and a studio for it all!
@@grimdarkaustralia That's confusing! I bought an AK Interactive Streaking Grime that is red and a MIG Streaking Grime that's green. I'm sure I read MIG matches old AK?
@@VoiceInTheGrimDark as far as I was aware everybody was purchasing red browns and there was a lot of angst when people started getting green ones. AK wasn’t particularly informative and tried to say the the green streaking grime is what they always had but my first bottles and the bottles of everyone else I know had red/brown. The guy who made the recipes from AK apparently went out on his own and did MIG and his SG is the red brown and AK’s has gone and stayed the Green brown colour. That’s from what I heard through all the fb posts haha
@@grimdarkaustralia Well I have the red one and if that's what people are using I know I can work towards similar effects. I have a two MIG SG's, one for DAK which the green/grey and the other is a looks to be a darker version of the AK SG. I'll need to throw some of each down on something and see what it does.
I love the grimdark style. And this is a great video! I fell in love with AK interactive streaking grime. I would love to see how you do your basing to keep a good grimdark feel. And maybe some grimdark AoS models? (Khorne or Nurgle would be amazing too)

I'll start painting some DG and I'll steal your techniques ;)
Nice Doom Eternal OST in the outro

@@grimdarkaustralia that rust looks way to real man, I hope one day I can emulate that just a little.

awesome video... some heads ups: small foam make up applicators work better than q - tips... less abrassive and you dont leave q tip hairs everwhere

I’m just curious could you do the washes over contrast paint?
You can but I would seal it first
What is an alternative to AK Interactive Rust Streak?
AK Interactive Streaking Grime had a colour change, are you using the older green/grey colour or the newer brown colour?
I believe the red brown is the original colour and the green grey is the newer one haha

In qhag ratio you thined down the magos purple to use it as glaze?
With the rust streaks are you thinning it at all for the wash?
