একজন পুরুষের শরীর নিয়ে জন্মালেও পশ্চিমবঙ্গের ত্রিবেনীর বাসিন্দা অত্রি কর কিশোর বয়সেই আস্তে আস্তে বুঝতে শুরু করেন যে, তিনি শরীরে এবং মননে দুটো পৃথক সত্তা। অত্রির ভাষায়, আমাদের শরীরে যা থাকে, তা হল Sex, আর মননে যা থাকে, তা হল Gender ।
Society-র বানানো সব নিয়ম-কানুন কে ভেঙে দিয়ে অত্রি লড়েছেন Transgender-দের অধিকার নিয়ে। West Bengal Public Service Commission-এ তৃতীয় লিঙ্গ বা Third sex-এর পরীক্ষার্থীদের জন্য কোন সুযোগ না-থাকায় তিনি মানবাধিকার কমিশনের সাহায্য নিয়ে কলকাতা হাইকোর্ট-এর দারস্থ হন। অত্রি তাঁর life struggle-এর journey-তে দেখেছেন, বাচ্চারা তাঁকে খুব সহজেই accept করে নিয়েছে, অথচ, সমাজের তথাকথিত শিক্ষিত মানুষরাই তাঁকে একঘরে করে দিতে চেয়েছেন সবচেয়ে বেশী।

Born as a male child, Tribeni's Atri Kar realized in her adolescence that she had two different souls in her mind and her body. In her words, what we carry in our body is our sex and what we nurture in our soul is our gender.
Breaking all the stereotype rules of the society, Atri has fought for the rights of the transgenders. After getting no scope as a transgender to appear at the West Bengal Public Service Commission, Atri challenged the decision at Kolkata High Court with the help of Human Rights Association. During her life struggle, Atri has realized that the children accept her very spontaneously whereas the most educated persons of the society have discriminated her the most.
Today, at Josh Talks, we present the life struggle story of Atri Kar as at least a reason of motivation to change ourselves.
