- I tried to find this online, but it isn’t available to watch anywhere, no matter how much money you’re willing to pay, and who has a DVD player these days.
Obviously I don’t make any money from this, I just want to watch it on a digital device!
this is truly a monument to a long lost internet far more beautiful than our modern sensibilities can perceive
*As someone (in the UK) that's been using the internet fairly consistently since December 1998, I can confirm this.*
I appreciate your feelings but if you think about it, this was an era where the internet was wildly unregulated, the peak of the dark web and things like the Silk Road.
i would say that this was a time where social media wasn’t as prevalent which made it a nicer place.
I remember in the early 2000s reading an article warning about the coming ‘fencing’ or ‘enclosures’ of the internet. And here we are.
@@Meansnare over ten years ago i had 25k followers on myspace sooooo its been around while. I think about 1995 i was online
@@Meansnare peak of the dark web and silk road in 2003? what the fuck are you talking about?
This really is one of the most well put together, beautifully performed, emotionally engaging stand up shows ever made for me
Being there would have blown your mind!
A week later you'll figure 4% of it out!
Years pass and you be in his wheelhouse and hate yourself.
Welcome.
i was going to write a comment to the effect of what you just put however your comment was far more eloquent than i whatever i would have come up with
took words right out my mouth
it was made for you?
@@jaysomastandup for me as in “in my opinion”
*powerpoint presentations. 😂
this is the most 2003 thing that has ever existed. perfectly captures a point in time
Totally!
First time I stumbled across this, I had no idea I was about to sit and go on a crazy adventure. Thought it would be a normal stand up. But I found myself hooked on this journey and it was brilliant. The time flew by like a few minutes. Dave’s great.
I was in the audience for this filming, he got 10 minutes into it and the stage manager came out to say there'd been a sound recording issue, so he had to start it again and because it was being filmed he asked us to laugh even though we knew the jokes. Only just watching this, it's edited very well!
And you saw it's all an Illusion.
Stage Gorman - GOOGLEWHACK!
I remember seeing this around the time that it came out. Now that it's almost 20 years later. What a different world that we live in and what a great watch that this still is.
“…and in his tiny little mind…. He thinks THAT’S TWO!”
My favourite thing Dave Gorman has ever said.
Thank you! I've been DYING to rewatch this for well over a decade!
I came here looking for Dave Gorman's first show "Are You Dave Gorman" and thought I'll watch this for a couple of minutes. Those 2 hours flew by quite quickly.
If it's any help, I think he's selling DVDs of that show on his website.
I read this book at 14, now 33 and seeing this for the first time and wow what an adventure down memory lane!
Same.
I've never read the book. Is it worth reading once you've seen this show?
@@Revelian1982 Id say yes - it fills in a fair bit that isn't in the show - including what the book he tried to write was about. Might not be quite as good as "Are You Dave Gorman" though.
Same
My son introduced me to Dave Gorman and we have shared an interest ever since. I absolutely love him, watching him is very comforting and gets me through
I just tried typing Francophile Namesakes. Three interesting things:
1. Just as I finished typing ‘Francophile’ but before I started typing ‘namesakes’, Google put up a list of suggestion to type. Third on the list was ‘Francophile namesakes’.
2. Google came up with 35900 suggested sites for ‘Francophile namesakes’ and all of them relate to Dave Gorman. So, presumably thanks to this show, ‘Francophile namesakes’ is no longer a Googlewhack!
3. There are now 3170 suggestions for Dork Turnspit, and there’s even a band called Dork Turnspit. Dave Gorman has changed the landscape of Google for all time!
There aren't any Googlewhacks left anymore, it's a relic of the older internet. There's too much stuff out there now
@@nickp1999I doubt that's true
@@CDStoner prove me wrong
@@CDStoner Oh well if you doubt it, that's all we need to know.
Google has changed how it searches so there are no google whacks anymore
This is by far the best stand up ive ever seen. Still amuses me even now im watchin for the 4th or 5th time
wow, a buddy of mine stumbled into this after I shared it with him like 20 years ago, and re-shared it with me. So much time ahs past it felt mostly fresh again. Loved the re-watch
If you like this, look up 'Modern Life is Goodish'. Its Daves TV series where he did 5 seasons of half hour presentations like this. Some really good ones in there.
Such an amazing show! I've come back to watch it every couple of years since I was introduced to it. Still makes me laugh every time.
I remember watching this as a teenager and actively searching (and finding) many new googlewhacks for fun.
Incredible show, remember seeing this in parts back in the day. So good to able to watch it full here. Dave's shows have always been excellent.
Thanks, while grateful for those before you who've uploaded but FINALLY DVD quality...
This is not DVD quality more like VHS.
I remember watching most of this on TV ages ago and thinking what an engaging story it was. Never caught the beginning of it so happy to have found this now.
Wow!! I've liked Dave for a long time but didn't know about this. It's the funniest and most exquisite video I've seen for ages. Possibly ever.
The greatest one man show I've ever seen.
It will never cease to be funny to me that Googlewhacks led Dave to the man Gish Galloping was named for, and he ended up annoyed at him because of his dishonest debating tactics.
Reminds me of the age old “debating a creationist vs playing chess against a pigeon” analogy 😂
Ikr, I was sitting here thinking, no way, he met a mr Gish, a creationist, surely it's not.... no way! Dave Gorman met the Gish Galloper!!! wtAf! You'd almost start to believing in divine intervention.....
this is a work of genius. I love this guy
I'm glad Dave slowed down his delivery in Modern Life.. he sounds like Spud in his job interview in Trainspotting in this show
Thank you for this I’ve watched another version on RUclips about 30 times (it’s my cleaning vid) and that’s 20min shorter so it’s missing lots of bits so now this is my while I’m cleaning vid
I’m sorry that your cleaning time has been increased by 20 minutes!
@@andyc836 ha normally I would be annoyed but since it’s you I will let this one pass mate
I absolutely love this stand up. It’s a classic. This story makes me so happy 😀
1:45:30 That's me! Me and my friend got up to check out his tattoo. He made us stand up and tell the audience we were wrong 😆
thanks for posting this. i read the book and saw the show live but all those years ago... great to watch it again!
I had to watch this 3 times through, its literally the best thing ive seen from gorman
I have a DVD player. And this (unwatched gift) DVD. Thanks to you I have now seen it. Genius.
bought the dvd and read the book of this. If you enjoyed, go read it, it's a beautiful piece of writing.
Saw this show in Montreal. Bought the dvd not knowing it would not work where I live. So happy to find this here.
It just goes to show how small the world actually is. Eventhough distances might seem huge and oceans vast... Through a simple game like this, you meet people from all over the world!
Dave's parents lived down the road from me in Stafford so this is particularly personal to me - watched this so many times and revisiting it in 2023 and its still amazing.
I live in Stafford too, Dave's show sticks in my memory as one of the single best bits of stand-up I have ever seen, made especially sweet by the fact I know he's a Staffordian.
To be fair surprisingly few media personalities actually come from Stafford
@@KrisDouglas only other one I know of I Neil Morrissey
Such a wonderful presenter and a deliciously engaging maniacal story
I remember buying this DVD from the multi-story HMV in Birmingham's Bullring back in the day. I watched it so many times - a great show! Thank you for the upload!
Always love Dave!
thanks for re-uploading this
Thank you for posting, this is brilliant
I randomly quote parts of this and "are you Dave Gorman" from time to time all these years later.
Saw this live in Yeovil, was brilliant, met Dave briefly after the show which was cool
I remember buying this Special on 4 CD-ROMs because we didn't have a DVD player yet.
I’d forgotten how good this was.
Thanks for uploading this Andy C. I have it on dvd....and my name is also Andy C......that's equally weird.
maybe you should look for every andy c
the random funny shit you get links to form random ppl you meat on livestreams :P thanks Laura 😂 I laughed my balls of!
Probably the best story I've ever heard told
Shame we didn't see him run back across Swansea to get his car keys back from the other theatre.
Thanks for sharing this dvd. 🙂
My name is Kelvin, and I can vouch for at least part of this story. And that Dave is a lovely chap.
I saw this show at the Edinburgh festival before the book/TV show.
I got a complimentary badge that stated "Dave whacked my Google!"
Saw this Show live When he Did it in Belfast. Talked to him after the show got my mates Ticket Signed by Dave because he didn't make it to the show He signed it "Fuck you I was Hilarious - Dave"
Filmed at the Grand Theatre in Swansea, November 2004.
Never found dave gorman desperately funny. But i love that he exists and does his thing.
This is incredible.
That's the third time I've watched that. It's still funny.
he reminds me of a mix between jasper carrott and chris o'dowd
Dave was excellent extremely funny very much wish he had a show on the telly love watching him
He did have a show where he did presentations like this about different subjects in life. It was called 'Modern life is Goodish' and it ran for 5 seasons in the uk
He had another show after that on the same channel in 2019 called terms and conditions apply which was similar to modern life is goodish only rather than it being just him it was him and 3 comedic guests each week :)
this is just awesome couldn't stop laughing in places what a masterpiece in random events with a plan ...you really couldn't make this up ha ha ha ha....thank you so much for sharing it , will do the same
A sibling showed me this when I was young. Didn't realise it wasn't online anywhere.
I remember seeing this show live, my sides hurt from laughing….. tried the original Googlewhack now, 177,000 results.
I think about this all the time. Blast from the past lol
I watched this so many times on DVD whilst at Uni, ironically it was in Swansea too
thanks for this !!!! its a favorite of mine
Finally, tho only other version of this I find online is the Edited for TV version
I own a dvd player and all my dvds cause I like being caveman who is also aware stuff can get removed from streaming services at any time and has always foreseen that coming.
Happy Birthday Dave!
Loved the Flanders & Swann reference at 1:12:37. Heat cannot of itself pass from one body to a hotter body!
What a journey. Brilliant!
such realism of truth truly amazing.so very entertaining loved every minute .
this was epic. really didnt think would enjoy this. but omg. didnt even get up 'pause' to make a brew
This is a novel in itself. Fucking brilliant
"Who has a DVD player these days?"
I do. I love physical media. But more importantly, every modern video game system with a disk drive can play DVDs. Own an Xbox Series X, most PS5s, PS4, PS3, PS2, Xbox One, Xbox 360? Congratulations, you own a DVD player.
In fact, the uploader specifically says they created this themselves from a DVD!
I think this guy is trying to break the world record for most words spoken in under 2 hours... I'm too stoned 😂
Oh my god. Gish from Gish gallop fame. Absolutely amazing 😂
Not seen that for years. 👍
Happy New Year.
This was funny I had it on dvd I couldn’t stop laughing
That little plushy bastard is *adorable*!
Truly brilliant
Absolute genius!
This is brilliant i wish other people would do it Stephen Fry meeting all the other Stephen Fry's anyone?
well why dont you go and do it gary rigby
@@smoceany9478 they would all be mostly in Lancashire
Outstanding! Loved that!❤😂
One of the first things I saw on RUclips!🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯😎😎😎😎😫👍👍👍👍
Crying at the 50 mph bit 😂😂
speaking of coincidences, I love Dave Gorman, have done for 2 decades, and I love pulling apart creationist BS online, also have done for 2 decades, yet never knew that Dave had met Dwayne Gish, now infamous for the dishonest debate tactic called Gish Galloping
I see this live at the Edinburgh Fringe
I invented Googlewhack in 2000. I didn't call it anything. It was just something I started doing while bored in front of internet. Also while writing a book, actually.
Did u finish your book?
The way he talks reminds me of John Hurt🥲
Ever just sit there and think what is life. When someone turns that crazy story into a career wtf did o do wrong
Do not feel pity for the scumbag actively lying to and cheating on his girlfriend. That's not brave.
Ah, when google just searched for words instead of these exploitable SEO algorithms
dave gorman's modern life is goodish
I found one - "Rizla" "Hepatoprotection"
You'll have to put them in separate quotations so Google will ensure both words are present.
no results for me
one of the funniest things ever
i stilll have a VHS as well
Not many comedians do a 2 hour show these days.
Not many could, most can't do an hour.
And certainly not with that power.
And apparently on this occasion the recording messed up so he had to the first 10 minutes again, what a pro eh
Not only that, after the show he did a Q@A on the stage (also filmed for the DVD)
I accidentally got a Googlewhack today (though, not with 2 words).
why doesn't the publisher send adhs authors the first sentence in a file
Im looking for the im Dave Gorman video
those dubbs are checked and based.
