Thanks heaps! I've always loved that section and find it such a shame that it's never been officially released. Was a last minute addition as I've always been eager to hear it clean. Same applies for the acoustic outro :)
I did a cover of the solo on my channel if you want to check it out. It's very difficult compared to the rest of Akira's music, as his vibrato is very tight and moves around quite gracefully. With that said, I think Mathias did a great job.

The rest of tracks are incredible as well, the idea of including some of the old samples mixed with your own instrument performances was definitely a fresh touch, so unique and delivers the sensation of being listening a new release from Akira Yamaoka himself.

This game means so much to me. Prob the best game ever and I don’t mean graphically but the phycology of it gets into your head and especially the original soundtrack is unsurpassed. But this is better
Wow... what a cover. I can feel the love and respect you have for Yamaoka's composition. I LOVE how you tastefully added some more elements onto 'Betrayal', very interesting! More powerful and cathartic, but I still see the appeal of the original composition being more muted and skeletal. Thank you so much for making this cover; as a beginner guitarist and an overall amateur muscian, to see my passion and love and musical tastes reflected like this keeps me going.
Also makes me further appreciate Yamaoka's work. Silent hill 2, the game AND its soundtrack, are definitely works of art. Crazy to see something like came out more than two decades ago.

All we’re missing is the reverse will, the most hauntingly beautiful track in the whole game. It captures desperation and selfishness like no other instrumental like I have ever heard before.

Man, you're absolutely an artist. It takes a really good ear to detect every arrangement, and then the technical proficiency in every instrument, the subtle and faithfull interpretation, and then the patience to look for the right FX and then working on the mix. Oh, and the tasteful video editing. Great work!

I have always found the Silent Hill 2 soundtrack to be soul-cleansing to listen to. I love hearing covers from different musicians, and I have to say, this tribute has to be one of my favorites! There are so many layers to each track and the production value of not just the music but the video editing as well is stellar.
In your tracklist, you included all the familiar favorites fans would expect to find. Theme of Laura was masterfully done, and I was excited to hear the inclusion of the solo from the game trailer as well as the acoustic outro at the end of it. I also think your version of Promise (reprise) is one of the most beautiful renditions of the song I've heard. But in addition to these, you also surprised me along the way by covering several songs I wouldn't have anticipated. Each Interlude was so immersive and I don't know that I've ever heard anyone attempt to cover Betrayal and still manage to capture the emotion of the original!
Anyway, I'm happy I found this underrated gem. Amazing job A++. I hope you enjoyed making it as much as I enjoyed listening to it. I'll be listening to this on repeat for years to come.

I agree that Akira Yamaoka's scores are world class and throw the listener through a whirlwind of emotions as all good music does. Betrayal has been a long time favourite and am glad to hear it still preserved the atmosphere of the original. Am super excited to tackle more Silent Hill music in the not-so-distant future!

I’m currently playing through SH2 rn (I’m nearing the end as well) and hearing all the major songs in one video feels like I’m on a journey. love the closed eyes and level of immersion. dude is just feeling it and it's completely relatable with the silent hill tracks.
Whether it's intentional or not, I love how at 20:28 it almost sounds like the original Silent Hill theme in the background. Even if it wasn't, the fact it sounds so similar adds a lot to this cover!
I'm so happy someone's finally noticed! Was indeed intentional. While I was rearranging 'Betrayal' I thought it could be fun to place that little melodic refrain towards the end as an homage to the original soundtrack 🙂.

It's strange... I haven't played the game since it came out (although it left an indelible impression) but the CD is one I go back to so regularly. This is a video I shall return to many times now I have discovered it, not only because it is a cover of some of my favourite music but because of the great inventiveness and creativity that has gone into these unique arrangements and in giving a visual quality that mirrors the sensations of the games.
