Found this via Louis Cole, and glad I did! This cover is something wholly its own. The discordant vocals make it magical!
Fucking hell - I've only just discovered Loren Battley and good lord, what an astounding talent she is. I could listen to this for days.
I love this so much.
I love this cover, it’s one I listen to repeatedly.. well done to the vocalist
Essa eu conheço, maravilhosa.
Parabéns !
Love it, Loren Battley!!!
I just stumbled over this.. and love it! what an amazing interpretation of one of my favorite songs!
Love this!
I like when these four musicians are playing the best
There are many songs i originally don't like, but really love your version.
Keep up the good work!
hella funky!
so natural!
Going back and watching many of the old videos. Sam Wilkes is in like every one and I miss him, idk what happened but I wish he'd appear in some newer videos too!
Fantastic
Go Loren! I'm so thankful to have found Scary Pockets and Pomplamoose. Amazing talents.
Wowwww!
Extremely cool
Very cool cover. Lovely voice.
Awesome
great!
i was pleasantly surprised by this arrangement, seeing as the original is so ROCK. this was nice. :) great job.
nice, love the ending
Great song choice, "Make Yourself" is one heck of an album. Thanks for all the Monday funks!!
masterpiece
We love Loren Battley
this is so cool !!! so unexpected , that was incredible . a true artist making this song something of their own !!
Could you guys do any other cover with George Krikes? I loved that guy's voice!!
Love this one! Loren and Lemar did an especially outstanding job.
The drummer is working that three piece kit!
Nice experiment! Good job!
first drum's beat it's eargasmic
Clean composition, awesome voice. I'm just here for Loren and Jack from like make the grade and pomplamoose's monster. The best rendition of something I haven't heard even heard of though, it's funky as hell!
MANO,
isso tá muito foda!!!!!
Good shit
Huge fan of the channel and now you guys do an Incubus song? OMG They are my favorite band ever!!! You're the best👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
me encanta el bajista!!
Um momento de piiisss ! S2
The song's fine for me. Yes maybe a drier mix on the vocals might make this song sound a bit better, but as it is here published I think it's fine enough.
Loren and Sam Wilkes!
All of the negative comments are unfounded IMO. I thought Loren killed it and the arrangement and band was on point as well. Loved this !!!
Where did you find negative posts?
Everybody like it in this comment section... its a nice cover.
Need some likes kids? Or give us examples...
Ajsbdhsjamana i've been waiting for thiss so muchhhhhh
I like this better than the original and it actually helps me appreciate the songwriting a little better
I’m sure the pressure when people are critical sucks, keep up the hard work guys. Loved the keys on this song.
thank you, you all give inspiration in singing and music., the freedom to create something new is there are fans and listeners as I am here, I ask for Georgy porgy from you all, and definitely continue to appreciate you in the future
How do you always keep finding such awesome vocalists?
Nice......reeeeeeeeaaaaal nice
better mix, yes!
when will she record another song with you? one of the best singers you had
dude jack! incubus is MY favorite band! they used to rip bro :)
wHEre did she get that dress tho someone help pls thanks
Helle yah, Incubus is so uderrated
Not sure where all the negative comments are coming from... this is one of my favorites from SP. And one of their funkiest. Never cared for the song until I heard this version. I even like the drum-stumble and great save at the end.
No idea about what song is this, but I liked it in this style.
What a beautiful babe, very talented much love and respect from CA
I love this song... And you did it justice!! 👏👏👏😍❤️
I would love to see you guys do "Nothing from nothing" by Billy Preston.
Very cool and different. @2:33 sounds like a trip up. Was that a mistake or for real?
It still sounded pretty sick
Lamar with that sick pocket.
Eeeeeeeeeekkkkk!
damnnnnnnnnnn....
ALL GLORY TO THE HYPNOWILKES, MASTER OF GROOVE AND SLIPPERS
Awesome! I'm totally unfamiliar with the original song, and I don't care. I love this.
And Loren... equally easy on the eyes and the ears.
Love this lady’s voice I’ve always preferred female voices
Who’s the drummer in this one?
not really feeling the vibe of this one but the critiques on the singer saying she's flat I can't agree with! lovely voice and that ending was super cool
Is that a Rhodes piano?
I think Incubus' "11 AM" lends itself better to a funk treatment than "Drive." Maybe that's a good one to try next.
The original have such a powerful energy.. This one doesn't have that thing, but keep up the great content!
right. not trying to knock it, because I like it and I like the channel, BUT. hmmm. Not every black woman has the epic soul voice, but this is still ok. but not as inspiring as brandon boyd.
Ah, Jack goes back to his roots! Incubus! Can Radiohead be far behind??
Sweet chocolate, vibe
Awesome performance everybody! Thanks !! :D
What's the name of your guitarist? I think he's my Sensei now :D
Just found this track, and omg this is sooo good! They took what is in my opinion mediocre song and breathed life and soul into it. Kudos to all involved and Loren's vocal are just amazing!
Hey , congratulations for the amazing work on the chanel... huge fan here ... but this particular song seems to have something out of place
I dont know exacly how to say it ... but on the long notes her voice always seems out of pitch
Hope to help with the feedback
Keep the amazing work Scary Pockets
I agree
I totally agree. Something is definitely off and doesn't work
I think she was a bit nervous.
Totally agree!
Caio Parish agree
Everything up until here had me. You make an amazing job, but this vocalist doesn't do it justice. Keep up the great job, you bring funk into my life
You guys are amazing. I love all your videos but this singer was just not cutting it.
Ask a sound engineer, something sounds wrong / off/ ?flat?. We do thank you for your time and talent.
Please turn up that bass!!
I feel the arranged between the band and the voice is more jazzy than funky. Not bad tho
I love you guys but wish your instrumental mixes were drier. Sounds like there's EQ or compression that could be scaled back a little.
Wichita lineman should be your next cover ! :D
One of these days you guys oughta crop the shot so it's just a close up Sam's face and have that just be the whole video. No offense to Jack, who also makes pretty mean faces, but I think Sam's got the edge.

Incubus is part funk band. Their fist two albums clearly show that. Nice try though with Drive. I bet Brandon and boys will like it.
WTF IS HAPPENING AT 2:31
I commented on same thing. I think pianist missed a note. Can't tell if it was the recording or if it was actual musician error.
The drummer is playing what sounds like a half-note triplet fill. It kinds of sounds like their timing jumps the track for a second, but it's tasty as hell if you hear it right. (There's a chance I'm wrong and he just got off the beat but I don't think so)
Seems like a drumming kerfuffle.
No error there. Drummer just hitting his queue, getting a little spicy before the song ends. Amazing!
@@pegleg00 Yes - and great save by the drummer... bass player loved it.
100x better than the original
Si.
Never liked the original, but this is my jam exactly.
I know it's hard, but there are some mistakes in it.
Not as funky as your earlier offerings. In fact, a number of your latest covers have a decent enough groove, but are just missing that 'stank" in the arrangements. If you truly appreciate Funk, then you know what I'm talking about.
Huge fan here, too. Unfortunately, I have to agree with a lot of other commenters that this song isn't one of the strongest (and one of those rare occasions, where the original is way better). The drums sound totally off at 2:33 in my opinion. While the sound of the vocals is probably on purpose, I think it sounds like recorded in a shoebox.
Anyways, love you guys, keep up the good work and can't wait for the next song!
Que negra linda
This is just not hitting my ear right. Sounds like the vocals are crazy weak And grating. And the instrumentals sound empty. But keep up the great work, Pockets and guests. Can't please everyone all the time, right? Cheers.
It sounds like there's an effect on the vocals that's pushing the mids. I think they were trying to go for a spacious mix with the use of reverb. I definitely prefer a drier mix if they record in the studio.
Maybe, they should do some sessions at different locations. Church, Maybe?
Yea... Tend to agree. Stellar musicianship (as always) but the vocals just ain't happening. That's challenging material that few can pull off. Phrasing and pitch are a bit dicey. That said - it's easy being a critic... so pls keep doin' what you're doin'!
Well, this is not the best cover ever of this guys, but i couldn't be more disagree. the phrases of the voice are amazing, she has, in my opinion, a nice and light voice, but it doesn't makes it weak, is just different. The backing music is kinda complex, i agree there, but, cmon, in times of despacitos we should thank this boldness!!! Greetings from Chile!!!
Yeah, it sounds like the vocal is coming through on another microphone in the room somewhere, not the one right in front of her mouth.
"Vocals are crazy weak"? They're way better than usual! Despite sounding a little nervous she's not doing too much unlike most, the only one doing a better job is Casey Abrams. He's "on" as fuck but always serving the song. Yes, she's a little nasal, no, she doesn't belt, no, she doesn't hit impressive high notes but it's an Incubus song. You don't always have to go over the top.
And it's obviously not as uplifting as the stuff they usually do but again. You don't always have to go there.
That doesn't mean the "instrumentals" are bad or whatever or that the vocals are "crazy weak".
-_-
Don't you really think that this skilled group of musicians with decades of experience just randomly fucks up a song?
...doesn't practice until they get it right?
...but proceeds to upload it on RUclips anyway?
Or could it be that you simply don't FEEL it?
It's not your cup of tea, whatever.
You're just a consumer.
Meh.
My little daughter likes it as much I do. And she's so sexy and good at singing. Amen. Discussion closed. 🔒
Ok😔
Always so unique and so cool...but not loving this guitar part though
It sounds like you just squeezed the lyrics into a pre-written rhythm section and say it's a cover. You guys made no attempt to emulate the original's iconic chord progression even to the slightest.
You guys are amazing and no disrespect at all but incubus is already a pretty funny band and this song doesn't need the funk. The original progression fits the lyrics so much better.
oof vocals are flat almost throughout the entire song. first song i disliked from SP!! nooo
I'm guessing it might've been a bad monitoring situation for her. You can tell she has the chops but probably just couldn't hear herself well enough to stay on
yeah that's possible... maybe they were trying to emulate the incubus live experience.. Brandon Boyd live is rough
guess it's probably because she's tryin to control this hard rythm to sing on, in the end she looks more free when gettin closer to the original song's style
Did not enjoy this arrangement.
