Not just to you, that's exactly what they are and it's explained several times throughout both films. But the franchise is usually associated with the zombie genre because of their obvious similarities (from a cosmetic standpoint anyway) despite the details being somewhat different.

People complaining about the dumb hippies but the scientist just saying infected with "rage" while these mo-rons were willing to hear what they were infected of... Come on, dude, be specific, had you said "infected with a very contagious virus" probably would have made these guys more reluctant
@Deadpool-ts3tq but he should have said something rather that "r-a-g-e"! The hippies had poker face of "what is this esoteric dounce trash is him about?"
I agree- everyones blaming the activists but I dont know- seems to infect a group of animals with a highly contagious virus, that isn't just a common cold but 'rage' is the real stupid thing to do. Thats a lot of faith to put in the workmanship of those cages plus faith that no accident would ever have happened, with or without the activists. I blame the scientists myself.
Not all labs are well funded. And not all labs follow regulations. I know this was in England but some countries don’t even have regulations. People will just do research in their basement or garage.
This quote doesn't mean what you think it means. It was a way of saying that people who only have good intentions but don't act on them will still go to hell, because they never do the right thing in life, but only "intend to."
@@marikstongue5663I'd argue OP's interpretation is more relevant to today's behavior, regardless of its original meaning. It's one of the biggest reasons why I'm done with the western world. But yeah, that's probably what it originally meant.
Due to it coming from a primate, the infection seemed a little slower than human to human transmission. The way she screams "I'm burning." Makes my skin crawl.
If that scientist just simply said the apes were infected with a “contagious disease” instead of just saying the word “rage” those activists might’ve taken him seriously. Poor choice of words is what caused that zombie apocalypse. Just my opinion.
@NoName-hg6cc Well yeah obviously they cause the infection to get loose but when you're faced with angry animal rights activists threatening to release the chimps you really should, I dunno, elaborate further on why that's a fucking terrible idea? Simply saying "rage" was hardly gonna make them be like, "yeah fair, that sounds a plausible reason to keep these chimpanzees locked up, cheers Doc!" The doctor definitely fucked up big time there.
Its crazy to me that they're showing images that are basically just B-roll you see associated with every news story about unrest these days and framing it like it's somehow harmful or damaging in a major way.
there's a point to be made there though, that the 24 hour news cycle along with things like negativity bias can cause immense stress, I think that is what they were trying to impress, that a constant stream of some of the worst humanity has to offer warps our minds
The irony is this film did more harm to animal rights activists than anything in the world. I remember people laughing like crazy at the activists killing the ape after they tried to free it. Oh the irony.
Scientist: They’re infected with rage‼️ Activist: Screw that. We’re letting them out anyways ‼️ 🙄😂 (Seconds after releasing it) Activist: What’s wrong with her?
It's a genetically engineered strain of rabies designed to overwhelm the immune system on contact with the bloodstream. It's explained in the graphic novel.
@@justonecornetto80 I remember a channel covering it and suggesting that the closest we could get to something like the Rage Virus would still need at least a few hours before you showed symptoms of anything.
This part of the film is what makes me scared the most because its closer to reality than we realise, there are places on this earth like in this movie that are a home to all kinds of viruses, diseases and other toxins secured in labs they are basically the epicenter for chemical warfare manufacturing and all it takes is a handful of morons or simply incompetent staff who think they are doing something righteous or by the book that could lead to a devastating global outbreak of some kind. I can totally believe activists doing something like this, more often than not the road to evil is paved with good intentions.
Look, I love animals as much as the next guy, and testing this type of shit on chimps is fucked. However, if I broke into a super secret CDC lab, I’d most likely listen to the guy who went to science school, and not open the cages.
Even if they weren't infected, opening the cage of a chimp that's been locked up for God knows how long and standing at the entrance is just a plain stupid thing to do lol.
You assume that these people who thought it was a good idea to break in to a lab would then think and act logically after breaking in. They view the scientist as part of the evil corporation/government and cannot be trusted.
Yeah even in zoos you can't just open enclosures, there are padlocks or locked doors. In a situation like this with specimens this dangerous, there would likely be multiple locks, probably keyed differently so one person can't make a mistake.
I am a die hard 28 days later serious addict. From the comics to the movies and graphic novel I love the whole concept that these are NOT zombies. They are infected with the rage virus which is basically a very contagious rabies that spreads like wildfire and turns a person into a violent, rage filled and adrenaline filled phyco. These people are not dead or feed on the dead or humans like zombies. They don't eat at all and starve to death eventually. I loved the first 2 movies but I don't like they skipped over 28 months and went to years. I would prefer if they kept the timeline or a prequel of the first days after the infection and show how the UK is basically decimated. I have mixed thoughts about this trailer. It seems like all the legendary movies I grew up with are all getting horrible sequels lately like gladiator 2, twisters, top gun 2 and so on. I wish sometimes they'd leave something alone and try not too perfect something already that's perfect. Most of these movies do not need sequels and rarely now are any of the sequels are up to par with the original.
I just realized that shoddy security is a main contributor to the spread of the virus in both movies. It’s like a cycle of outbreak, near containment/ extinction of the virus, then outbreak again. It will be interesting to hear about this pattern in 28 years later.

Unlike so many other zombie movies, they actually explain why the apocalypse starts.
28 series may not be perfect but it tried to be more complete by showing different time periods of the outbreak.
Well, I mean the title is very much a telltale sign. The comics cover quite a bit too.
“INFECTED WITH WHAT?!
“Oh, it’s a highly contagious super rabies virus that will turn you into a raving thoughtless zombie for rest of your life within seconds of having it transmitted into your blood stream”.
“Oh…ok…thank you…sorry for bothering you”
*Credits Roll
Those words would most definitely fly over their heads. Plus, he already pointed out the fact that they were contaminated and those were damn CHIMPS!! Which were particularly looking very angry!! If they are stupid enough to let them out despite those conditions, I doubt explaining things so complicatedly would do anything.
Him: (These mfs are stupid, might as well use simple words, oh I know...) Rage 😐
That opening pad is some of the most beautiful amience I have heard in a movie.
To me, they are basically not zombies, just infectious people turned animals.
I mean, yeah, that’s more or less exactly what they are. They aren’t reanimated corpses that consume flesh (they only bite to kill or infect someone) The ONLY thing they have in common with zombies is that they are infected with a contagious virus and become murderous.
Not just to you, that's exactly what they are and it's explained several times throughout both films. But the franchise is usually associated with the zombie genre because of their obvious similarities (from a cosmetic standpoint anyway) despite the details being somewhat different.
yes, they are not zombie. Infected people will die of hungry in 3 - 4 weeks. The virus is highly contagious but i dont think it can effect whole nation that fast
like rabies
When people call it a zombie movie, they refers to the genre. To which 28 days later belongs. So yes, it is correct to call it a zombie movie.
One of my favorite zombie movies Ever!!!
Along with 28 weeks later
No Zombies!!!!!
Ed: "Any zombies out there?"
Shaun: "Don't say that!"
Ed: "What?"
Shaun: "That!"
Ed: "What?"
Shaun: "The zed-word. Don't say it!"
Ed: "Why not?"
Shaun: "Because it's ridiculous!"
Can't wait for 28 years later, which is supposedly in production.
I didn't see a single zombie the entire movie. They have super rabies. They strave to death, you can kill them just the same as any living human.
Not a single movie in the entire movie
"They're highly contagious!"
"Get those cages open!"

That last one scares me. The fact these infected were already dangerous, but now they might be sentient or have a hierarchy with variants? Out of frying pan and into the fire.
The lab tech should have bailed when they started turning and try to lock them in that lab.

The scene that traumatised me the hell up as an 11 year old back in early 2009. I remember that in spanish the scream felt even more disturbing and now rewatching this as an adult makes me feel bad for the girl who clearly was naive in believing she was helping the animal and turning afterwards into a devil like monster.
28 Days Later or as in latin america was named "Exterminio" (Extermination) marked my childhood and was one of the reasons of becoming a writer.
Interesante amigo.
Watching this in theatres "Ugh, stupid people".
Watching thus today "Ugh, average people".

Fantastic film! I always called it, "pants crapping terror."
The scientist wasn't really helping the situation either; speaking in puzzles instead of giving a straight answer would've stopped them from releasing the chimps.
Did anyone hear anything about the monkeys that escaped a lab in LA a couple of weeks ago, I immediately thought of this.
A couple years ago. A semi wrecked with CDC monkeys in them, a woman lifted the blanket on the cage at the wreck and the monkey 🐒 spit in her face. She ended up getting sick, recovering though. The semi was disguised. Some monkeys did get loose. Just goes to show how easy it is. And 300 dangerous viruses were stolen inside job from a Australian biolab a week ago.

People complaining about the dumb hippies but the scientist just saying infected with "rage" while these mo-rons were willing to hear what they were infected of...
Come on, dude, be specific, had you said "infected with a very contagious virus" probably would have made these guys more reluctant
Well, he clearly said that it was very contagious, what does it matter if it is a virus, fungus, bacteria or whatever, it is CONTAGIOUS
Forget about it, why would you let chimpanzees, particularly the ones which look very mad, out of cages?
Fun fact. The scientist played the karate teacher in a Mr Bean episode. :)
and Uncle Max
Activists rarely know wtf they doing , just cause chaos
i always wonder how places like this can "easily" be broken into
Not all labs are well funded. And not all labs follow regulations. I know this was in England but some countries don’t even have regulations. People will just do research in their basement or garage.
I love how that one guy with the wire cutters immediately attacks the raging chimp 😂 these people have absolutely no clue.
'The road to hell is paved with good intentions ' popular proverb. Terry Prachett said it was paved with double glazing salesmen. I prefer his version
28 Years Later.
Time didn't heal anything
The entire time i've watched these two movies the only thing i keep repeating is, as follows, "That's a terrible idea"
Due to it coming from a primate, the infection seemed a little slower than human to human transmission. The way she screams "I'm burning." Makes my skin crawl.
The irony is that the same people who wanted to save the world are the ones who caused it to end.
PS I came here because of 28 years later lol.
If that scientist just simply said the apes were infected with a “contagious disease” instead of just saying the word “rage” those activists might’ve taken him seriously. Poor choice of words is what caused that zombie apocalypse. Just my opinion.
He told them they were infectious. They didn't listen
@ yes but if you say to someone that the apes are “infected with rage” they’re gonna think you’re some nutter and not believe you.
Who is here 22 years later?
That thumbnail is really something else
This movie is a perfect example on why toying with nature is a really bad idea but then again science was built outta bad ideas.

Lesson learnt from both movies: The virus outbreak happen because of the stupidity of some people
Its crazy to me that they're showing images that are basically just B-roll you see associated with every news story about unrest these days and framing it like it's somehow harmful or damaging in a major way.
there's a point to be made there though, that the 24 hour news cycle along with things like negativity bias can cause immense stress, I think that is what they were trying to impress, that a constant stream of some of the worst humanity has to offer warps our minds
I really want there to be a prequel, like "28 hours Before" or something. I want a movie that shows us the 28 days.
Only World War Z focuses on the outbreak of the virus
Tony Hayers should have given them a second series.
Smell my cheese!
If you've read the comic crossed this is exactly what happened. "I'm burning" is fkn terrifying
Why don't i remember this in the movie? I don't remember seeing the start of the rage virus just the dude that wakes up
The irony is this film did more harm to animal rights activists than anything in the world.
I remember people laughing like crazy at the activists killing the ape after they tried to free it. Oh the irony.
Don't you hate it when that happens?
Absolutely man .. I hate ignorant people
The fact that those cages could be so easily broken into is a crime
Scientist: They’re infected with rage‼️

Activist: What’s wrong with her?
Amazing movie. One of my top zombie movies
the only thing i don't like about these films is just how the hell is this virus so quick to turn people?
Book of Enoch and illumanti rabbithole you cause hollywood and all these things you here are possible before later or other reality
Already happend with covid and Wuhan lab
Well this escalated quickly
Look, I love animals as much as the next guy, and testing this type of shit on chimps is fucked. However, if I broke into a super secret CDC lab, I’d most likely listen to the guy who went to science school, and not open the cages.
Even if they weren't infected, opening the cage of a chimp that's been locked up for God knows how long and standing at the entrance is just a plain stupid thing to do lol.
@@zombieoutbreakprodyeah, I just wouldn’t.
You assume that these people who thought it was a good idea to break in to a lab would then think and act logically after breaking in. They view the scientist as part of the evil corporation/government and cannot be trusted.
Moral of the story? Activism and Poor security are bad.
For something so dangerous the cages should have really been locked better.
Yeah even in zoos you can't just open enclosures, there are padlocks or locked doors. In a situation like this with specimens this dangerous, there would likely be multiple locks, probably keyed differently so one person can't make a mistake.
Can only assume people in the comments are as half-brained as the three fictional characters being portrayed here.
90% of the people who claim they'd survive in a zombie apocalypse... Definitely wouldn't
Humanity in a nutshell
Most of these movies do not need sequels and rarely now are any of the sequels are up to par with the original.
based on a true story
R.I.P. Scientist Bill Bruford
Thanks PETA!!!!!
The best horror film ever
The scientist is played by Tony le Mesmur the famous hypnotist
I just realized that shoddy security is a main contributor to the spread of the virus in both movies. It’s like a cycle of outbreak, near containment/ extinction of the virus, then outbreak again. It will be interesting to hear about this pattern in 28 years later.
So of Edgewood Arsenal. Korean War Medical Draft of 53-55. My Father promoted to Captain after Veterinary Corps Basic. Served at Edgewood Arsenal..Med Labs. Such a brilliant movie, how it flew under the radar in the grand scheme of cinema is beyond me...
you must know it didn't fly under the radar at all. it was incredibly successful, critically acclaimed, credited with reviving interest in the zombie genre; a third sequel is now in post-production with a fourth planned. that's _above_ the radar if anything
It didn't fly under the radar? You must be a kid. When the movie came out, it was very successful. Especially coming from a small studio. They made a 2nd flim right after. I think the 2nd film didn't do as great but the third is coming out and fourth is planned.
