  • It's decision day for NASA as leaders of the space agency meet in Houston today to decide whether Boeing's Starliner will return to Earth with or without its two astronauts. The spacecraft experienced problems with its propulsion system on its test flight to the International Space Station in June.

    I don’t understand how it’s even a decision. Obviously they shouldn’t take faulty equipment home. If they don’t make it home alive it will be far worse for Boeing.

    • @WalkiTalki
      @WalkiTalki 19 дней назад

      But as the feds have proven time and again, if they do die coming home, nothing will be done and Boeing's new CEO will get a raise. So you know Boeing will risk their lives to save a dollar for Blackrock. They have no choice in the matter.

      All conglomerate organizations are outsourcing the few human aspects of their business to third world countries where there is less respect for human life. Actually some only respect death. Pair that to many of the citizens of those countries also harboring a hatred for the US and there you go. Dead American astronauts in the headlines.

    If NASA sent the astronauts back in Starliner, they would be making the same mistake for the third time: Challenger, Columbia and Starliner. Making the same mistake three times would turn NASA into a dangerous outfit to work for. It would be plain negligence if they tried to use Starliner. Whether Starliner can make it home intact or not, the decision merely to use it would clearly show that the safety culture at NASA has not changed since the days of the lost shuttle crews.

      Nahh, Boeing is just like any other big corporation that's too big to fail. The DOJ might charge Boeing criminally but that doesn't really mean anything since no one ever goes to prison over this stuff. There "might" be Congressional hearings if anything happens to the astronauts; after all, the committee members are elected politicians and they have to look good for their constituents back home. But other than that, nothing will happen. In fact, all the senior executive weenies on the board will still get their fat paychecks and bonuses no matter what happens. That's the American way!
