I know Mark builds a ton of the Allison units. It still blows my mind how he keeps track of all the little pieces and reassembles the trans in precisely the right order. Mad skills right there.
After you do a bunch it becomes rote and you don't even have to think it becomesd automatic no pun intended i did automatics in the early 90s as a student internship we could have trans overhauled in 1-2 hrs with the instructor mech and I its been almost 30yrs I would have a hard time now
Always excited to see each video!!! If I only had the $$$, I’d be headed to Wisconsin to get the trans and turbo done, but when that time comes, RDS and Kodiak are the only place I’ll go!! Thanks again for the awesome content!!
Will be going to see these guys to help me set up my 06 LBZ for towing. Got over 401k on the truck and she needs some loving. Love watching all of your videos. Especially the setup on the Wifemax.
I picked up a stock Allison deep trans pan from my local Freightliner dealership for $60, deep Allison filter was $22, $90 out the door for both. A MA filter lock, 5 gallons of Mobil Delvac 1 ATF, and 2 trans fluid changes later and I'm good to go for 100k miles before my next fluid change.
@@TruckMaster I thought long and hard about pulling the trigger on that PPE trans pan, but decided to save money there and go with the PPE oil pan instead, get rid of that damn hump.
Ya'll give me inspiration to finish my project car, i thought mine was expensive i wouldn't wanna even imagine how much you'd legitimately would have in the rebuild of a duramax
It seems every time I click a video, the subscriber number keeps going up by at least a thousand it seems. Hmm... I wonder why? It's so cool seeing a channel like this grow.
Just ordered a 64mm Rds turbo for my lml, if the LbZ turbo ever goes out I know where to get it from. But that thing is a tank, and hasn’t failed yet, thanks for the coupon code!
Aw man I was to think I was talking to mark on the phone the day before yesterday about coming and getting a case. I coulda ran into truck master that would’ve been awesome 😎
I’m saving to go up there and get that work done as ya mentioned especially the turbo booster and machining on the engine along with the transmission upgrades. I have a 2008 2500 Duramax and I wanna use it for Hot Shot driving. How much would it cost to do all of the work that y’all did to that truck and how long would it take ? I pass your name on to other Hot Shot drivers when they ask about repairs because from watching your videos I’ve been able to diagnose and do repairs even though it’s pretty tough to work on them . My first biggest repair has been this water pump and I decided to replace both idler pulleys and the serpentine belt along with all of the hoses and I went with PPE , with Artillerymen RED for the hoses. Thanks again for the great content.
I bought into PPE. Got the oil filter and transmission filter. I installed the oil filter, the oil pressure was maxed out and blew the filter off going down the road. New transmission filter going in the garbage. Will stick with ac delco.
I’ve seen more than 2 people I knew personally kill those PPE transmission “stage 5” kits. Fluid dynamics proves time and time again that a deep pan only slows the fluid from getting hot over a shorter time span. Over time, it will still reach roughly the same temperature. If you want cooler fluid temps, upgrade your transmission cooler. Good luck.
built Ryans trans in his 2003 in 2011 with a stage 5.just over 100k miles on it. 4 seasons of truck pulling and abuse. makes just short of 800hp and cant kill the trans. maybe the ones you know of didn`t check all there clearances correctly. just a thought.
kodiak truck not really sure if the builder did it correctly, he wasn’t notorious for building great transmissions. I’ll keep his name out of it since he’s in a unique geographical location that would immediately give his identity away. Let’s just say it’s one of the lesser known states with no real “good” Allison builders.
there are some that slap these together with out checking clearances. That`s very critical. Most cases its not the kits fault. The stage 6 kit is alto g3 the best stuff out there.
Hey, looking at getting this done. How is the downshifting towing and not towing? Does it jerk hard like to the point of potentially losing traction if icy or is it just kindof like a normal shift kit? I see the stage 5 includes a shift kit which is cool. Please respond and let me know. Thanks
Hi, New to the Alison transmission here and I haven't been able to find a lot of information about it since my 02 sierra 2500hd has the 8.1 big block. Other than the tcm the transmission is the same correct? Every builder for the Alison is for a duramax and don't list anything that i can tell for the 8.1. Not making a race truck its a daily driver and just wanting to know what is able to work in my Alison also to improve it and last longer.
Older video, but how are you liking the ppe transmission? My Trans went bad on my 06 duramax and thinking between, ppe or suncoast. Any insight would be great.
Hello brother! Wondering if you can help me figure out distance difference. I am replacing my allison at545 with allison 1000 off a kodiak. I have same SAE trans housing on both transmissions, the torque converter has same mounting hole pattern and such, BUT the length of 1000 is a bit different. I found info on the 545 converter sticks out 1-5/8- 1-3/4 ( distance needed for TC to reach drive plate). I wonder if you or your gurus have that info for allison 1000? Thanks a bunch! Also any input to control ali 1000 behind mechanical engine on the budget in 2020 avoiding buying expensive stand alone? Thanks again!
Rumor is GM put that "hump" in the engine oil pan to prevent the sump from sucking air during accelerations, sharp cornering and/or steep inclines. Have you or anyone you know that replaced it with a flat bottom pan had any trouble with sucking air in these conditions?
Oh jeez. Now homeland security is gonna meet you in Wisconsin. First silencer filters and now you say the “kinda look like mortar rounds”? Lol. We’re you 11C?
I have a 3500 Durmax. I wish i could just recreate it like this, She's an 03 and only has 140k miles on it, But for some reason the check engine light keeps comin back on, and it then it will run smooth then the engine will have a lot of hesitation when i give it some gas, then the check engine light comes back on. Probably will end up selling it i if i can't solve it. I love my truck😎
Borrow a proper scan tool, or take it to a shop that will print out the scan data. A knowledgeable person needs to interpret the data, that will give you direction and greatly narrow the issues. Dont guess at the problem, find the data and go from there. Stay gold.

Does adding two extra quarts of oil with the deep pan and bigger filter lower the oil pressure?
Usually no, trans needs specific pressures to operate. Pump and valve body determine the pressure.
Could you possibly do a pilar gauge install install only the LB7
