A balanced assessment. Thanks.
Thank you for the kind comment. I try to be fair but shoot straight.
Thank you Hank, great content 🎉🎉🎉. Just a couple of personal observations. 1. Re 1080@39fps: As a corporate trainer, I don’t really need more than this because (a) when streaming client business only allow 720p downloading to save bandwidth (imagine 150 employees watching my stream at their desks and at 4K each screen! (b) recorded videos at 4K would be nice, but 1080 gets the job done for a training video. 2. I think that the RCV is better suited to a situation where 1 person is in front of a camera and a second person is controlling the RCV. 3. I still my Tascam Mixcast 4 for audio and I still run everything through OBS and this gets me around the Rode ecosystem issue. I have simply swapped out my ATEM mini for the RCV. Again, Hank, thank you for your video.
Thank you so much for the very insightful comment. You are 100% spot on with your thoughts on 4K media being a heavy lift at scale. 1080P is perfectly fine and most streaming serves push 720P like you mentioned. I would love to have an assistant to handle switching, etc for me while I focus on the content. I think that's coming soon. The Mixcast 4 is a great piece of gear that never got its proper respect outside of my small sphere. I never really figured out OBS completely so that was definitely user error. LOL! Thank you for the excellent comment. I love hearing your thoughts about these products.
Top class video as usual 👍🏿
You are far too kind! Thank you! I ALWAYS appreciate the encouragement!
As always, another informative video! I am curious, beyond testing the RCV, will you continue to use your RODECaster Duo? I feel like my Duo is redundant but it does have the mute button and the sound effects. I will probably keep it unless I run into financial trouble, then that device is getting sold for sure. LOL!
I really like that you asked that question. I will continue to use the Duo for "audio only" services that I connect to for podcasting. I'll also use it as the primary interface for my production PC as I like the headphone ports on it more than some of the other "more simplistic" audio interfaces on my desk. RODE and others suggest that I use it in conjunction with the RCV for maximum flexibility, but I agree with what you said that it's redundant when there's not video element needed. The way some of these products hold their value they can easily be sold in a pinch. 😂
The hyper deck Black magic record 4k
So rode video+ hyper deck is a extreme great combo
Would you send the 4K video from your camera or gaming system to the Hyper Deck then out to the RCV? I know the RCV only downscales to 1080P so that's why I'm asking.
That device looks amazing!
