i have been looking for a keyboard like this for months now i didnt want to make my own keyboard and didnt want it too look like one of those gamery keyboards and this looks just so perfect
@@matt-dw I just copped it. Got the red switches. This keyboard is amazing. I'm not entirely convinced the aluminium housing was worth the extra coin but would recco for anyone looking for a bluetooth keyboard.
chivatech How quiet are the red switches. This has been recommended to me but with brown but clickety sound not wanted. I have used a Logitech K811 for a good while but losing key caps and they no longer make this one. A friend recommended a mechanical keyboard since I touch type and Keychron K2 vs 2. But it needs to be not too noisy-and red switches appear to be most quiet.
Update: The issue I speak about at 9:36 appears to be a bug in iPadOS. When connected to the Smart Keyboard Folio, the shortcuts to go to the Home screen or switch between apps will not work when in an app. When disconnected from the Smart Keyboard Folio, the shortcut work as normal. In other words, this doesn't appear to be an issue with the Keychron K2. Thanks to @Thetransferblog on Twitter for informing me about this. By far my favorite keyboard ever. I love mechanical keyboards, but always hated the wires. best of both worlds. If you've never used a mechanical keyboard before, just try it. You won't want to go back.
I just learned about this keyboard from this video a few days ago. Then I did some research on it. It seems like a decent wireless mechanical keyboard for mac for the price. I do notice some complaint about the height of the keyboard might cause discomfort when typing but since I have a wrist rest and I've been typing a lot recently, I will give this keyboard a go.
@@Leydonnn It's not aluminium. I've got one and I love it (on it right now) - but it is decorative rather than structural. The base is always plastic and the sides are just aluminium panels added on. I think its worth it for the aesthetics but yeah you're not going to get a sub 100 quid full metal keyboard. Case if you're building yourself is about 50 quid for alu.
@@sarim4 it is not, it’s exactly the same as the plastic version, with aluminum panels that slide on, there is no chassis difference at all between plastic and aluminum versions
I actually own this keyboard, I have for a while... This is the first time I hear I could disable the friggin timeout! And tbh I cant understand why I just complained about low battery life while never having tried to just disable rgb lighting... Thanks to you Im not buying a new keyboard hehe 😅
I have been using this awesome keyboard for my Mac for quite a while now. I gotta say, it's hands-down the most high-quality bluetooth keyboards for your Mac thus far. The lighting effects are not the brightest in my opinion, but the keyboard surely makes up for it with its build quality (I'm using the aluminium RGB version which I highly recommend over the cheaper plastic one as you will definitely feel the quality difference), intuitive Mac-like layout and overall CLEANNESS. You will certainly want to work more with this keyboard sitting in front of you on your workstation desk. And the best thing is, it's not the most expensive keyboard out there to offer you this. So go with it!
i make it work on linux :D so you can use it in ANY os :) i would like others languages layouts and keys, or maybe a dedicated software to personal macros and key bindings
Thanks for the video. Can you comment on the stability of the Bluetooth connectivity after months of use? Thinking of getting a Magic Keyboard (white no numeric keys) or this. Planning to use it on an iPad. Thanks in advance.
Ooooh I love that Keychron continued making mac keyboards. I just assumed they are going to be like everyone else and just make another one-off. That's so awesome. Although I was hoping they would make at least one model with Left Fn key, like the Vinpok Taptek. That would just make it the ultimate mac keyboard.
Do the keys get shiny after prolonged use (I.e. weeks/months) as I find this as an annoying problem with most keyboards - the most used letters (a,s,d,e,c) tend to go shiny after a while....
Yeah the included keycaps are ABS - so they are not that durable, and so overtime key shines are bound to happen for sure. That said, you can find replacement keycaps to put on this keyboard (make sure to find PBT ones for more durability). Also bear in mind that since the Keychron K2 uses a 75% layout, some keys do not belong to the traditional ASCII layout, so you need to look for keycap sets that offer additional keys to cover 'untraditional' layouts like K2's (sets that have more than 120 keys). Good luck!
I have the K1 and I love it but the only thing that bothers me is that the key actuation registers a press when you barely tap one of the keys, not having to press a key down all the way to have it register has caused me many errors and misclicks when typing. Is it the same on the K2?
I’ve got the K1 and it is seriously flawed. It goes to sleep way too quickly and then can take a while to wake up. When it does wake, most of the time it turns on the cap lock function which is very annoying.
I got one of these Keychron K2 keyboards from Kickstarter and was surprised to find what looks like an identical keyboard on Kickstarter from a company called Kemove. They have other options but this is their base model. I don't know if they both buy from a manufacturer and just sell it as their own. Since they don't even have a brand name on the keyboard except for a sticker at the bottom of the unit, which is a characteristic of "generic units" which are made for other companies to "brand". Perhaps they are both the same company trying to sell on Kickstarter yet again. Come to think of it, there seems to be another campaign on Kickstarter for a keyboard called "Keytron" by Keychron. I don't feel there is a major conspiracy going on, but it is pretty curious. Anyone know anything about this?
ItzaMe Yep, you definitely need one. Just look at those wrist angles without one at eg 2:30! 😱 The tilt feet will even make that worse, and should come with a (flashing RGB LED backlit 😉) health warning label: bad case of RSI guaranteed.
Chris_The_Onion all of cherry clones claim they last 50 million press but i had some of gateron and outemu. Some lasted 3 months. But some of Chinese keyboard switch manufacturers does have better switches like kailh box is known for real tactile switches, and gateron ink. Ink sound marvelous. I don’t know about durability though.
What caps did you use to swap the arrow keys? I'm new to mechanical keyboards and I want to give the K2 a different color scheme. Hoping for cyan, but I'm not sure what will fit on the K2.
Oh boy, you’re in for a treat. Google Miami keycaps... or don’t google that and go back to your normal life where you don’t spend insane amounts of cash on little plastic things.
@@diversionmary Do you mean the arrow is bought seperately? I just got my K2, but the arrow key is grey color. Anyhow, the typing experience is great. I love it.
Oooh I'm currently a Das Keyboard 4 for mac user and have had the K4 on order for while and they've delayed delivery til "December"... this video only makes me more excited for it and I'm hoping it will still arrive before Christmas
I would not call that a aluminum chassis. There are just some thin aluminum railing mounted on the plastic chassis. Check a video that takes it apart. Also quite hollow inside, that makes it quite loud. Still a good keyboard though.

The wireless for keychron is no good, if u have too many wireless stuff on your Pc, after a while the keychron will have issue, I had tried K4 & K6, also same issue
There really isn't anything Mac specific here, just the keycaps. Should be able to buy some of your own. I don't even consider it a mac layout because the FN should be on the left side.

I did but it did not seem to do anything, maybe there will be a firmware update that enables it.
I recommend TaeKeyboards review of this keyboard. The biggest off factor of this is how high it is in the front. You need a wrist wrest with this one.
NOT an aluminum chassis, AT ALL. Sadly. It's just 4 thin aluminum slide-on pieces on top of a fully plastic chassis to give it a metal look.
