    Very happy to learn that my favorite carrier is doing fine. Cathay pioneered the A330 back then it’s only fair it is now moving to the A330 NEO.

      Cathay has had more than 25 years to hone a good portion of its route networks around the A330. The NEO makes a lot of sense as it enables to continually streamline Cathay’s operations.

    The logbook for a330neo is shorter than a350 or b787, so great choice for replacing its ageing a330-300 and 773

      They will not take delivery of those until 2028. They could perfectly order the 787.

      @@Tpr_1808 Delta did inherited 787 orders from Northwest, but Cathay never ordered 787 ever.

    The AIRBUS A380 and the A330 neo are the finest aircraft from a passengers perspective

      When flying in business, I find the A350 preferable over the A380. Some airlines have oversized business class cabins on the double decker Airbus, resulting in an overworked crew. Business class on the A350 tends to be smaller, offering a more exclusive and intimate atmosphere. Boarding is also quicker.
      As for the A330neo, I have yet to fly on one. The A330 classic is clearly inferior to the A350 from a passenger comfort perspective. The air is dryer and has a lower pressure. The windows are smaller. Not to mention that the A330 has a comparatively small cabin width, resulting in slightly smaller seats, even in business class. Not a big deal, but it feels more cramped.

    i'm quite happy to see the A330 NEO gaining a big order from a new customer, the A330 NEO feels like the under-dog

    The Cathay Pacific fleet has a very nice mix of different types of aircraft. They seem very well equipped for lots of different routes and requirements.

      Some airlines are now fitting out their A330neo economy class cabins with a 3-3-3 seat layout. Not exactly comfortable.

    The Airbus A-330neo is loved by Passengers and Pilots
    She has the best Economy Class configuration: 2-4-2
    Only 2 out of 8 passengers are stuck in the middle-seat

    Love CX. ❤ One of my 2-3 top favourite airlines. Happy to see them having big plans, especially, for Airbus planes, by far my favourite. I’m just praying CX doesn’t get acquired as persistent rumours resurfaced every so often

      uh they wont. They will make the 777-300ers only 3 class and make a great first class on the 777-9x

    Not only Cathay Pacific, but also a lot of other companies are moving more and more into business and premium classes IMO. Will economy class survive, or gradually dissapear? And flying becomes out of reach for many passengers? Or only at LCC?

      Profit margins in premium classes are way bigger than in economy. Airlines are smart to make the economy class experience gradually worse and offering passengers new products like premium economy as an affordable alternative. I expect this trend to continue. We will see ever denser economy class seating, worse food (perhaps with paid “upgrades” to more palatable choices), pay-per-view IFE (or no IFE at all), harder seats etc. All of this to encourage some passengers to upgrade and leave the rest with a miserable experience.

    Airlines have to please Airbus just in case Boeing end up unable to deliver for the long waited 777x
    Airbus tend to be more reliable choice, wise call by Cathay

    Cathay Pacific is the best airline in China, way beyond the AirChina, China Eastern and China Southern, also Cathay will be the first airline in China who operates the A330NEO and 777X Excellent Cathay Pacific

      Hainan Airlines will be the first operator of the A330neo in China. Cathay will not take delivery until 2028.

    It takes more than new aircrafts to regain the trust of non chinese pax who were far longer before the Covid pandemic lost trust in CX as it is getting more communist chinese and less the Hongkong oriental western style we loved and cheerish. Beside SQ Cathay was a beloved carrier back then especially because of their intern. FAs. These ppl. made a trip - together with far more better food in quantity and quality - with their great hospitality to be remembered. I flew a lot CX regionally and internationally from the 1990 until 2019. Even as kid I flew their Tristar and older B747 100. I know what CX service then and now. Believe me, it got worst and their pro China and less Western mentality now, just broke the camel's back on me. So bye CX, you have been once a great airline for me.

      I'm not sure what you mean by an airline "getting more communist chinese," but airline service has gone downhill across the board as more and more people can afford to fly. It's not just CX, it's every single airline in the world if you want to compare with the 80s and 90s.
      We are cattle on a glorified flying bus. CX service is already incredible compared to European and American airlines. If you want even friendlier and more down-to-earth service on an Asian carrier, you can always try EVA and JAL but their cabins aren't as nice as CX and their staff is less internationally diverse.

      It did not cost Airbus much, it is economical and a thorn in the side of the 787… I do not think Airbus ever considered it to be a world champion but rather a sensible option in their catalogue.
