Great video. Firefighters did a great job. How weird is it tho the fire is at an old funeral home and you get a shot of a hearse in the video.(2:40). Weird.
Nicely done on the video Erie County. I always appreciate the ones with fire ground and dispatch radio, gives a better perception of what's happening on the fire ground and prior to. Thanks
Thank you for including a good description for this video. A lot of times people just post these videos of fires without any explanation, which is confusing especially to the general public. Why did they do it this way and not that way, etc. When I used to work in hospitals, we underwent fire safety training. I imagine it was a requirement since the staff is responsible for protecting our patients. Hospitalized people aren't usually very mobile. We learned about the triangle and even practiced using a fire extinguisher in an all day class once. Pointing it a the base of the fire was a key lesson. I see that there are very different strategies firefighters use by spraying water from high above form a ladder and what looks like attempts to first contain it from spreading to the surrounding homes and buildings. Plus if that any victims are trapped inside, then attempting to rescue them is the first priority ahead of just fighting the fire.
I've been saying it for 20 years, they should live burn every vacant house in Buffalo. Forget about courts and foreclosures. You could have every fire Dept in the area do drills and it wouldn't cost a dime.
Nice video...love to see the power of the towers. You had a nice parking spot too. That place looked really fragile...think the flames and water did equal damage.
reminds me of teh 1970's fire at Kicklighter FuneraHome went up in Flames.. my dad was teh Firechief.. he had nightmares about seeing ghosts poping up in the flamesl
In Elmira NY for a fire that size they would use the deck gun it gets more water on the fire a lot faster. I don't know if the Buffalo NY fire department was using the deck gun or not
Great coverage as always. I would have loved to see the excavator working. You know you have been at a good fire when there is tower ladders and excavators working. Keep up the good work.
A lot of fire before we saw a on scene response. Initial water to fire, was slower than I would expect from a mjor city fire dept. Ladder towers made short work of this job.
My guess would be the building was abandoned or scheduled for demolition so it was going to come down one way or another. The water being put on was mainly to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading to nearby structures and trees.
City I used to live in are all volunteers....and have a Class 4 fire insurance rating....where I live now is also 4....paid department. Did the crematory get too hot? (Sorry...couldn't resist)
Blocking up what looked like a major roadway, and just taking there time getting it out. Makes no sense. I guess that's one way to get rid of a abandoned building.
Brett Clark The City of Buffalo doesn't care they are blocking the street... they will position their equipment as they see fit. PD had streets blocked so traffic could go around that area where the fire was.
OK. I got to cushions that are on my local small town fire Dept. I was on the towns explorer program when we were teens. I wanted to get on the department with them but they wouldn't take me because of my learning disability. So I do the up most respect for firefighters.
I've never seen a better way to blow a roof off a building than three or four arials while all the 2 and a half inches out in the middle of the street🙄
I find it hard to believe that fires in boarded up buildings like this are not deliberate. To spread so fast, all the doors and attic traps must have been open and flammable contents inside. For the owners of the site, all this adds up to free demolition, no problems with anyone wanting the building preserved and a stack of insurance money in the bank. Oh, lets leave that clapped out old hearse in there as well and claim even more insurance money!!!!!!
There are many reasons why fires get started in old boarded up buildings and most have nothing to do with the owners. The biggest problem in the time delay in having a fire like this discovered and the alarm raised. The fire could have been smouldering in the walls for hours before it got hold in a place where it would be seen. The smoke smell is there but people often don't report a smell of smoke.
In this town I live in, there is so much smoke smell from fireplaces and outdoor fire pits, the fire department rides around constantly checking everything out on a daily basis. It's ridiculous.
This looked bad on the video so I can only imagine just how intense the actual fire ground and fight actually were. This was an abandoned funeral home I see so if it was arson and I'm not saying that was the cause then perhaps it was electric in origin. I would have said a gas fed fire if there were a crematorium on the premises but that wasn't stated and this though intense doesn't look like a gas fed fire to me. Just speculating as to the cause. Happily it seems there doesn't appear to be and exposure risks here.
Six years later that corner looks so much better then it did in 2007. Now it is a pleasant well-kept lawn.
Love it. Didn't put anyone on the roof. Exterior attack. Used the power of the tower to get into the roof. Excellent job.
Fire at an old funeral home and the photographer ends up driving behind a hearse (in front of the Jeep) What are the odds?

Great video....love the driveup....amazing when you see heavy smoke and flames from blocks away !

Wedekindt's , opened in the 1880s or 1890s, and still in operation (elsewhere) today. Didn't even know this had burned !
Nice shots; good detail without crowding.

This wasn't a house it was a former funeral home and mosque
The Buffalo F D always does a great Job.

Those blitzfire nozzles look like they can rip walls and framework off with enough pressure.
They definitely can. I’ve seen it.

I think we got a new way to get shingles off a roof.
Andy I think we got another armchair firefighter who knows nothing
@@glennhuber4975 Hydraulic overhaul is a real thing..C'Mon
¿Is that a Radio Shack CB antenna on the peak of the roof? ¿Did the funeral home keep in touch with their hearse at the graveyards with a CB?
Have you not heard of these amazing things called mobile phones.
Nice footage of your response too!
Wow what a fire.
On my FB wall... I have the same video but a longer version of the dash cam video
City Streets Dept will clean up the huge pile, when the excavator finishes ripping down the bldg.
Why was the repair shop notified? What rig broke
@7:13... the turning point in the operation... was wondering when they were gonna get elevated master streams behind the fire

Thats a hell of blaze, good vid thank you for the upload.
fire must have been pretty hot you can see the house in the background melting

Well if I ever need to remove roofing material I know who to call :)
Utah Mike and if we ever need another asshole comment, we know where to look!
@@glennhuber4975 Glenn, you're sad d*chead, he wasn't rude towards the firemen, just tried to make a joke.
Why the fireman attacking the fire towards the air

This was a vacant funeral home. No one was in a rush. The building was set to demo'd in the future anyways.
What happened to the water.

Big old place, hope all are well x
That radio squelch was horrible.
All wood and plastic houses, makes for lovely burning.
Another nice video. Thanks for posting.
You need a few ladder trucks airborne
Wowy!!! Nice captured.
3 ladder for 1 2nd alarm fire, im jealous
wrong spray direction you think
No Tower Ladders...
Great vedio
sucks who ever has to clean the mess up they left in the street.Suprised there wasn't a lot of wind interference since it was windy to day.
DingusHead4554 well for us who live in the buffalo area fire's during the day at least once a week.
DingusHead4554 yeah the town and Kenmore rarely have fires. That's why the town and Kenmore are volunteers

FF did great job.
What is a FAST team?
Firefighter Assist Search Team. They go in and rescue a downed hurt or trapped fireman from a building
This can also be called RIT - Rapid Intervention Team
@@murthad02 Thank you for the information!!!
Awesome video and you got a reserved parking lot in the first row. :-)
Amazing how naibhoring property owners buy these lots
They had 3 ladder trucks there I don't know what took them so long to get water on it.
They had water on the fire as I arrived. This was a well known vacant dwelling... there was no rush

Is a FAST team similar to a RIC team?
FireBoy693
Yes the FAST team is generally the same as RIT - Rapid Intervention Team.
Ok thanks
Radio feedback was horrible

great vidéo
seems that there are few abandoned buildings aroud the corner view from google maps
+yvon malette that is common in Buffalo especially this part of town

Place was rollin' !
For a short time there was a mosque occupying the building
This building for a short time was a mosque

Empty lot today. Didn’t rebuild after the fire.
It was vacant at time of fire

Why didn't the police block the streets
They did
The real problem here is there are not enough buildings burning to the ground up north... I’d rather see them ALL burn to the ground!!!
anyone hurt?
No.. not that I heard

50 years of shingles...Lol
Arguably among the slowest and leadt capable fire attack in history. Appears they never trained on blitz
This was a vacant bldg. With no real exposure issues, it was slated to be demo'd anyways before the fire.
Nasty
I agree with the wasting of water
Well, they have to keep it at bay.
See
Geez...I wonder if it was arson....couldnt sell the building so you torch it...
Aggressive interior attack at the earlier point of the fire would have saved a lot.
why...this was a known vacant building with major structural issues. There was NOTHING to save
@@murthad02 Ok, I missed the info it was vacant. I stand corrected, thank you!
