I've been using this camera with a Red Cat 51 for the last eight months and it works really well, much better than the EOS 600D (Rebel 3Ti?) that I had previously used. I do have other Astro cameras which are also at the cheaper end but are still more expensive than this one. Also, this camera having a back lit sensor does not suffer from amp glow like some of the older sensors such as the IMX183 did so in theory Dark Frames aren't entirely essential (I've seen various views on this - I didn't know enough about it to give an opinion one way or the other). I have no regrets about buying this camera, well worth the money. I believe Touptec and Altair also sell their versions of this camera for those that don't wish to buy ZWO for whatever reason, for around the same price. My only complaint is that their does not seem to be a mono version of this camera on the market at the moment.

I have an SvBony 705c planetary camera. It also uses the IMX 585 sensor. It takes good pictures which I have started posting on my channel.

I don't know, the amount of noise I was getting was crazy, I think the 294 is better?????

That looks like a great camera, for begginers (and experienced as well). I wonder if there's a great difference between the cooled and uncooled version I know cooled it's always preferable, but the uncooled is a bit more affordable. A comparison would be good, say, 5min subs with the cooler on and off.

thats not how it works. you want a cooled camera for DSOs, the end. It will reduce noise. You are literally never going to choose the uncooled version when the cooled are available.

@@Masoch1st People have reported good results with the 585 ever since the uncooled 585 came in. Of course, a cooled camera would always be the optimal choice (I know that, I have a few of them), but in general, cameras have evolved quite a bit in terms of thermal noise reduction.Which is why I'd like to see a comparison.

@@sjpp71 the results are not that good in the heat. you're going to get noisier images, the end. its a no brainer. yeah, in the winter they put out images that are about the same.

@@Masoch1st I'm sorry, I don't work on absolutes like apparently you do (especially when you say "the end"). I think everything is up to revision and experimentation. As I said, cameras have come a long way, and maybe the day will come when no cooling is needed. Have a good day
