That is so true! My husband is retired law enforcement and he's told me more than once if you are a cop dealing with a person who has a knife and they are 20-30 feet from you, they can get to you before you can draw your gun.

I was a Police officer for 32yrs started in 1987, working my way through the ranks to Patrol Lieutenant .In November 2018 Thanksgiving eve i encountered a suspect that had kidnapped 3 women, raped all 3 at gun point and eventually shot and killed 1.He had done 30YRS for attempted murder when he was 15 yrs old. Almost a year to the day he was released this happened. My attempted to talk him down were useless, he shot me twice, i returned fire killing him. This i am not proud of, i had to retire from this. I have a heart, soul . This has really taken me into a dark place that i hate. He died his death, i will die mine for the rest of my life. I dont hate this offender ,i pray that God will smile on him . What brings on the play back of this incident, "ANYTHING AND NOTHING AT ALL. My Brothers that are put in these situations WILL suffer a lifetime of what took a blink of eye . God bless you and lean on God ,your family and friends, Department. Because the taser is a NON-lethal weapon and you never use non-lethal when faced with a lethal (deadly) threat. Tasers are also very unreliable especially against a deadly threat plus you'd be breaking the Tueller 21 foot rule which was determined by a long study of knife attacks. If you knew her history, where was the non-lethal, I watched the sheriff's in California. They had 2 men with firearms. And one guy non-lethal.
Less lethal is NOT an appropriate response to the threat of deadly force.

The TASER (not 'Taser) is a less lethal weapon which is also an inappropriate response to a lethal threat, in most situations.

These officers murdered that mentally ill woman. They could have shot her in the leg or tased her. The sheriff is no better backing them on this. We need our law enforcement because without them we'd have chaos. But this was wrong
