For best results, make sure you do this mod on the ground, on bare concrete, and bounce and grind the body around a lot. Make absolutely sure not to use a blanket on a table to support the body. This will not give you any desired scratches on the outside of the body.
Before you put the drywall tape on, you should scratch up the serface with some steal wool to assure adherence of shoe goo. The shoe goo needs something to stick to, as the surface is very smooth. It may still stick, but its definitely better if you rough up surface. KEEP ON BASHING, OR SPEEDING! FROM BARRIE ONTARIO CANADA
Just got a brand new VXL still in the box plastic still on. I had a base model and beat the ever living life out of it and ended up selling it. Now, at least I know the slash's flaws and quirks. Now I can make all the small improvements and alterations I made before they become a problem.. EG: the drive shaft hole, etc. Would really like to keep the body whole for longer this time so we'll see how this plays out.
I have 1 bash body i have to do this to, have it taped already just needs the shoe goo. I use hot glue to hold the drywall tape in place before shoe goo.
I do drywall tape and shoe goo when a body splits. I think it's overkill to do it all like this, but it's more frequent maintenance when you do patch jobs like I do.
@@RCKnockout seeing how yours turned out after 6 months (and watching some of the driving you were doing) i think I may do that with my next body that I dont want to put the effort in on to shoe goo it :D
When I got cracks i. My slash body shell I would drill 2 small holes and use a zip tie works great I’ll definitely try shoe goo and also where do you get replacement slash body?
I think I got it on EBay. I got this one for around $35. A lot of them are closer to $50 for a new body shell though. You might be able find a deal somewhere
Thank you sooo much for that video!! I've used gorilla tape just in the usual parts on the slash body that Crack 1st.. I just ordered shoe goo and drywall tape. I'm stoked that you threw in your tip of using the glue gun. Curious if that was needed? Also have you had a chance to test the shoe goo yet? I have trouble finding specific videos from the people I subscribe to.. Thanks again! I've found your videos great and informative! Keep em coming brotha!✌🏻
Thanks for showing us how this is done. I used Gorilla tape on my mine but may change to this method if it works well for you. Does the shoe-goo dry good or does it stay sticky?
In hindsight probably should of put down some cardboard. But then again who cares I’m gonna scratch it anyways lol. The scratches wouldn’t even show cause the bodies painted from the inside

Gotcha. Thanks. I’ll have to remember that in the future

I’m sure it’ll be a ton of fun!! Hopefully it all works out for you! 🤞
Nolan would you also do it on the new clipless reinforced bodies
I don’t own the new clipless body…but maybe I will if I buy one

Nice man!

Yeah I think that using Gorilla Tape is the easiest way to reinforce an rc body

@@gogotrololo yeah the shoe goo is way too much effort lol
Crazzy i was just going to look up how to do this...thanks
No problem 😉

Is it ok if it gets wet after because u need to wash it when it gets dirty.
Yeah you could wash it….it should be waterproof

Glad you found it helpful….yeah I’ve tested many times…it holds up well!
Nice job my friend🍻
Thanks 😊
I think it's time for me to do the shoe glue and drywall tape upgrade
It takes a while to do. I hope it’s worth it. We will see
Strengthening the body but working on hard cement scraping the outside.
Thanks for showing us how this is done. I used Gorilla tape on my mine but may change to this method if it works well for you. Does the shoe-goo dry good or does it stay sticky?
It dries but it still feels kinda gummy. I wouldn’t call it sticky though
You need to try some Rust Oleum truck bed coating
Will that adhere to lexan bodies?
@@RCKnockout yes.
@@Fireonthesticks27 good to know! Does it crack though
Did it work? I'm thinking about it with my x Maxx
It has helped but I do already have a crack in the back of the body unfortunately
Sho go is way better then type gorilla tape. Great job!
Thanks 😊
cool mod,great video
Thanks 😊
I hear this does an amazing job bro hope it works bro for ya
Thanks I hope so too!
Yessssssssss good
Did you saw it from Kevin talbot?
I knew it😂
How stiff is the body now?
Yes I watched multiple videos including his
@@maartencoppens7312 it’s still flexible but it definitely feels more reinforced now
The best way is to do 2-3 layers of the sho goo and drywall tape
You don't like the Fox body?
What Fox body?
@@RCKnockout Black and white with the Fox logo. One of my favorite Slash bodies.
No I like that one a lot. My Slash 4x4 VXL originally was a Fox Body Model. I picked this body cause it was the cheapest one I could find online
@@RCKnockout Yeah it can be expensive. Sometimes they're on ebay for $40 shipped, but saving money is good too.
@@truerc yeah I got this one for $35 with shipping I believe
When u do it on concrete so it scratches the body bruh

@@uzu8678 I gotcha. No worries man. Either way not a big deal. Lol
flex seal spray
Thanks! I should try that
