Not a bad idea but haven't tried it, maybe spay just a bit to hold it for a second and then still use the shoe goo, that's what you thinking correct? I like the glue gun though because it's a similar substance to the shoes Goo. Appreciate yiur time. And thoughtful comment. Hope your enjoying the channel brother, see ya round
Instead of hot glue couldn’t I just use some spray adhesive in those areas to make it stick better? Definitely going to do this to my rustler and my new kraton 6s exb.
Maybe, But spray does not physically push the tape down... Could get very messy, and you don't need it everywhere... Just in spots.... You want the Shoe Goo to do most of the work Great question Hope your enjoying the channel, see ya round brother
I heard shoe goo takes paint off from many forums? Im scared because mine is painted from the inside. Should i put an extra paint layer down just incase? Or a layer of foskote first? Or should i just not rub the shoe goo in to much, im worried the custom airbrush job i paid 180$ for will mess up...
Valid concern, it depends. My Arrma bodies absolutely no issues, my XMaxx. Body it did small Slightly noticeable stuff but not bad. I have no idea on custom paint how would react, if more thickness helps? You can do a test piece of lexan, spray it as thick as your custom job, test it. Even then not guaranteed. Sorry not the best answer, hope your enjoying the channel brother, see ya round
Awesome video man I have been wanting to do this. But was thinking (not trying to hate for people who do this) but why spend this much time and money to save a cheap shell?
Thanks for the time and comment brother. Really just takes about an hour and 5-10 dollars, especially for a 8s rig those bodies cost almost $100 off Jenny's RC, 6s bodies about $60 right.... And for me they last about 5x longer than a body left stock.... So that's about a $400 plus value on a 8s rig.... Makes sence to me😉, but for me it's part of the hobby, I like the maintenence and wrenching side of things, and those stock bodies look the best typically. I do understand what yiur saying though, it's not for everyone. Hope your enjoying the channel brother, see ya round
It's called Fiba tape for drywall. Should be two kinds, one with the cross hatching looser, I like the tighter closer together hatches. Hope your enjoying the channel brother, see ya round
I'm pretty new to the RC addiction but have recently bought a MAXX ... I'm wondering if you have done this with any of the bodies that have the framed cages attached to the bodies?
Yes, Did it on my XMaxx no problem, took the frame out and don't build it up where it mounts or it won't go back together Hope your enjoying the channel See ya round brother
You can use it with certain custom paintjob, trust me. 😉 It depends on how it was undercoated and the dry time. Also, something better than shoegoo although expensive is 3M trim and gasket black adhesive. The best body glue I've ever used.
@@3SonsRC I've sho glued a bunch of bodies too. Works great. The last body I reinforced I did it with a can of plastidip. It's surprisingly tough and I was able to just pour it in and flow it around. One layer made it about 75% as strong as my sho goo jobs. Next try I will spray a thin layer of plastidip then add the drywall tap then flow another layer over that. I'll make a vid and post up my results. 💪💪💪
@@jcocanour I have thought about plastidip as well. But I would use the shoe goo first as it adheres to the body and becomes one more so than I think plastidip does as it can just be peeled off, but maybe spray after the shoe goo to seal it? Just a thought? Later bro
Appreciate your time brother and hope your enjoying the channel... Would you mind be a bit more specific about what body posts on what rig? I have a few
I have tried to use tape, it does not stop the cracking, just holds it together when it starts cracking, this method helps stop cracking and becomes one with the actual body, I have tried tape a few times and while it's better than nothing, this actually makes the body tougher and it does not take much longer than the tape method. Thanks again
I understand... It does take more time. But it is definitely stronger and worth it. I have done the tape methods too but found it does not become One with the body like this does. Appreciate your time and comments... Thanks for your support bud
You will most likely be fine, spray a spare scrap of lexan with the same paint you used, the same amount of layers, then test shoe goo it, guy in these comments here somewhere said he Shoe Goo his custom painted bodies all the time. I would think putting an extra Coating of primer over what you painted to protect from any chances of issues with shoe goo would be best. But like I mentioned, if you have any scrap, test spray it, let it dry and try shoe goo and dry wall tape like I did. The biggest thing is don't let that heat gun rest on the body, don't glob it on or too thick in corners (glue gun) because the glue and the gun itself is hot. Wouldn't hurt to double check ask in FB groups. Appreciate you time brother, hope your enjoying the channel, see ya round
Agreed 100% brother. That's why I posted in the discription and title to not use with customer pain. As far as I know most or all factory paint should be good, but I would assume you can spray even custom bodies with some type of protective coating after the paint. Appreciate your time and feedback, and for your support/Sub👍👊 See ya round
I have had some guys tell me it messes up custome paint jobs so that's why the disclaimer, I don't want to take the responsibility. But others have chimed in on the comments on this video and said it's good as long as it's Paint for Lexan bodies. I have not done it with anything other than Factory paint. Others have used on both, I guess just ask around. Sorry wish I had a better answer for you.
@@3SonsRC naw that's cool, you had me worried for a second. I only use the paint that is for the rc body's so I should be good then, just figured I could try this since everyone says it works and protects the bodys real well and stops it from cracking 👍 Thanks for a fast response, much appreciated 😎
@@arrmatuff_traxxasrocks_rc1097 NP brother, might be a good idea to do an protective layer over the paint before the shoe goo. Love the Name BTW Rock on brother!
@@3SonsRC yeah I'm going to do a white couple layers for the yellow and a couple layers of black when I do the blue so it should be pretty covered by the time I do the shoe goo 😁😎👍

Yes absolutely, repeat the steps but on the 2nd or 2ed layer you likley won't need to use the glue gun because the shoe goo will hold it in place. 😎👍 Hope your enjoying the channel, see ya round
Great question, I believe Shoe Goe is slightly more Glue based which makes it more sticky and therfore becomes almost one with the body. I could see you using silicone to fill crevices, but I would rather use all shoe goo Hope you enjoyed the video See ya round
How do you deal with all the dirt and grime that gets stuck underneath your body that adheres to the drywall tape and glue? The underneath of your body will get so stained with dirt and mud that it will be brown or s*** colored! The more you try to brush it off it just smears it in even when it's dry.
Great question brother. I never had that issue bro, maybe your Shoe Goo layer needs to be thicker so no tape is exposed. I know it does get discolored is spots but not too bad, I usually just hose it off then blow it off right after and it's fine. Plenty of times I did nothing between bashes and after a few I did the above and it was fine. Thanks for stopping by and asking that question.... Hope your enjoying the channel See ya round brother
She weighs 26lbs without batteries.... I think stock is 24, so about 2+ pounds.... Not too bad, definitely worth it😎👍 I hear some Dudes talking about 30-35 lb rigs.... I don't know, you gotty be trying to get to that weigh. Maybe they use huge mah batteries and super heavy tires and un-necessary (IMHO) upgrades like Vitavon Bulkheads etc? Appreciate your time brother and great question See ya round!
Wow, I didn't realize you commented on Shoe Goo Video.... No way it's 2 lbs extra.... I thought you were asking stock Outcast 8s vs M2Cified 🤣🤣 My guess is Shoe Goo MAYBE adds 1/2 a pound if you use like 2-3 tubes but you don't have to use that much.....1-2 works well if you out it where it's more needed
Yeah buddy thanks. I have actually gotten quite fast with it. I can do 1 layer and a few extra attention spots on a 8th Scale body in the same about of time (plus 15 or so minutes) it takes to do a good gorilla tape job. One layer and some doubleing here and there is definitely stronger, but yeah about 30 more minutes, if you want to do 2 solid layers and a few more than that on a big 1/5 scale it's time... But Some Bodies are Sooooo worth protecting Thanks bud
I have only heard in RARE instances where this hurt the body or paint of the RC with a custom job where the paint is thin, or no backup layer of paint sprayed.... So thats why I put the warning. I have done tons of bodies but never had an issue, appreciate you sharing a different material to use, I have not tried that. The Glue though really becomes one with the body that's why lots ip people use it, you might know if the silicone does as well like that?? Thanks for your time buddy Hope your enjoying the channel
Just get it Rhino lined by a local dealer. It’s $35 or so. All the supplies for this will run you about the same and it’s way less effort. And way more effective in my opinion.
Thought Rhino Lining still cracks and is brittle? I don't know never used it. This really BONDS and becomes one with the Shell. My 2 Cents.... Appreciate your feedback. Have you even done both and compared?
@@3SonsRC yeah. I did shoe goo and drywall tape on my first Maxx body. I do a lot of bashing on gravel so it lasted about 10 outings before I got any cracks. I took a new body to a licensed rhino liner place in my area and they used the legit stuff not a rattle can job. They primed it and applied the liner in a 1/8” coat. And it’s been about 20-30 with the liner body and not so much as a crack yet. Slight wear where the shock towers rub but that’s it.
Plastidip is trash, does nothing in this case, more for looks. This is the only way I know that really bonds and becomes one with the body, takes more time but if you want stock body to look great and last, "this is the way".... Mandalorion Voice Appreciate the support and time, hope your enjoying the channel.... See ya round brother
Sorry brother but that will do absolutely nothing.... Plastidip is meant to peal off, while Shoe Goo is a type of glue that becomes one with the body. Appreciate your time and comment, see ya round my man
Good tutorial 👍 but yep, this is way too labor intensive for me. You basically just fiberglassed the body. I'll just bash it into pieces and then spend that $50 bucks on a new shell. I do put Muchmore aluminum tape or Gorilla tape on some of my RCs but only on the troubled areas that's prone to cracks, it helps a little.
I honestly don't know of anything that bonds as well with the body and tape as shoe goo because it's essentially a type of glue, if you know of somthing that bods that well and cheaper🤔 it's only like $4.50 @ Wal-Mart so if your in the states you can do a 1/8 scale for $5 and a 1/5 scale for $5-15 depending on how tough you want to make it. I see some Dudes spraying stuff but then the body still cracks, or the spray armor does.... Open to suggestions but that has worked for me and I bash the he#@ out my rigs But let me know if somthing is proven better and cheaper, video tested or something, post a link👍because I won't waste a body on somthing I don't know works better, cuz I KNOW this does. Would love to be proven wrong though. I Do Really appreciate your time my man, hope your enjoying the channel See ya round brother
I don't get it ,,, why not just use gorilla glue duct tape , cheaper , easier and just as strong or very close to it , I own 20 RC rigs , they all have it , and it's been great
Appreciate you watching brother and for the feedback. To each his own. I have used Gorilla Tape and heat gun to bind it better and its still not close to as durable. Even just one tube @ $7 and one layer of tape is enough to go once over and double in a few spots on a 1/8th Scale... I can knock out a 1/8 scale in like 1 hour. This technique really fuses to and becomes one with the body, where as tape just holds it together as it cracks, Shoe Goo actually makes it harder to even crack. But if tape is working for you bro it's good, rock on, I used it for a while too... But maybe try this once and see? . There is a reason why a good percentage of the Bashers are moving to this. But to each his own.
It is some work for sure, but I find it makes the bodies last as long as 3-4 bodies might. The unbreakable options are good too but this is cheaper if you don't mind wasting an hour or so, stock bodies always look best😎. I have gotten quite fast at it, can knock out a 1/5 scale in about an hour and a 1/8 scale in less. Hope your enjoying the channel, See ya round brother
Using shoe goo.... Is like one of the worst ways to do this .. its not tacky and ur drywall repair tape will not stick. Use flex seal or liquid tape from wmart
Everyone has there opinions and experiences, I have done this on a ton of bodies and I have every one of them today and BASH HARD IMHO, stuff is VERY sticky IMHO as it's essentially a glue, and I have never had issues with Fibatape sticking especially if you spot use glue gun. Bro no disrespect but did you watch the whole video? It's cool though, other options work well enough I'm sure. This works for me and plenty of other dudes.... But ist RC... Plenty of ways to get the job done, not gonna say my way rules and others suck. I don't take myself that serious 😎👍 Appreciate your time and comment, hope your enjoying the chennel, plenty of space for differing opinions round here👍 Bash on brother.
Couldn't disagree more bother.... Used tape on a few rigs and it didn't stop edge cracking at all, it just held together the cracks from falling off but it still kept cracking.... Where as Shoe Goo actually becomes one with the body especially when done right and really helps edge and impact cracks. I have 15 RC all Bashed hard and the few rigs I used tape on have fallen apart while all my shoe goo bodies are still in operation, but it's cool bro, this is RC, everyone is entitled to there opinions, but this has been my experience See ya round bro
Ummm not sure how much shoe glue is in USA but for 110ml /3.7 oz in england its £15.99 on amazon here in England which is $2014 and if need 3 that's £48 plus price if dry wall tape to be used on top, body for my car is £53 so tape and 3x show glue going be just a little more than price of new body. I hear people saying this method makes your body last much longer and understand depends how drive your rc and how often etc. Anyone got a rough guesstimate of how much longer this shoe goo method would last compared to strips of gorilla tape and heated up with hairdryer so adhesive melts a little and sticks better ? Like 2 x more durable or 4x or 10x more durable etc. I don't go to skatepark so no massive jumps landing on concrete ,I'm just up and down fast on flat concrete but flips over iron roof occasionally or on grass/dirt with small jumps like 5-15ft in air at a guess. Take care and have fun all
@markoconnor3567 sounds like you drive lie me.. Honestly I don't need to reinforce my bodys.. Never did on the xrt, got that a yr ago and body is in gd shape.
@stevefrench3564 hi there, hope all is well and thanks for reply. I put bit of aluminium tape on underside of mine which helped but on back end of body ,mines shaped up to strengthen it I presume but end ed up getting a hole in when upside down on its roof scraping down the road ha ha,I've added gorilla tape on the old tape and bought plastic skids for roof, front and back corners now (should of bought and installed right at beginning but didn't think)But thinking even if body gets worse and worse I can take skids of for new body and gorilla tape used straight away ,but £53 a body quite pricey imo, I've seen some on youtube use what they call Russian indestructable bodies, and seen couple of European company's sell similar bodies for between €90 and €120,and they really tough, strong, thick hard plastic, so wonder if its worthwhile just getting one of these, seen someone drive over one with a car and it survived, but will look it further if my current 1 month old body starts deterioting more and needs replacing, defo don't want buy new body every couple of months and only just got back into rc in last month since childhood and already bought 3 cars and on waiting list for new losi moto rc bike but probably be few months yet till they back in stock here. But you've re-assured me by saying drive similar to me and your body has lasted quite some time
Agreed, but there is added cost in everything, I do like how traxxas and now the Corally Asuga have reinforced bodies where the cage or body clips go Appreciate your time brother, hope to see ya round
@@3SonsRC It might cost a little extra, but there is so many "how to reinforce RC body" videos, that it's time for a big change in the hobby. Manufacturers need to start making good RC bodies. I really don't think it would be hard or cost too much and I'd be willing to pay a little extra. Honestly it's plastic, those bodies are so thin, what's adding a couple more layers really gonna do. We got restaurants out here literally throwing away plastic containers when they sell food.
Thanks for your time, Depends on the body, if it's a 1/5th scale and want to go nuts like I did, 3+ big tubes, but you can easily do 2 Fantastic layers with one big tube on an 8th Scale. You can Tecnically do quite well on an 1/5th scale Outcast body with two tubes, even one will help. But I send my rigs over 120ft often so new bodies get annoying and this has worked for me. But I get it, at Walmart they are $7 for me, so I get they are more expensive in other places... But I think One Tube/Layer is better than the tape method. Appreciate your feedback! Thanks for your time buddy. Stay safe my man
How about paint (up to 3 colors per body!)masking the body for a design!,stickers! All the time! 25$ in shoe goo. NO PROBLEM 🤨 Not great at math, but think it comes to more than 15$ . You need to find a new place to buy your shoe goo. I live in Manhattan and I pay 8$ and change!

Instead of hot glue couldn’t I just use some spray adhesive in those areas to make it stick better? Definitely going to do this to my rustler and my new kraton 6s exb.
Maybe,
But spray does not physically push the tape down... Could get very messy, and you don't need it everywhere... Just in spots.... You want the Shoe Goo to do most of the work
Great question

If you want your house smelling of glue this is a great idea!
Who keeps their RC in their House😂🤣 I Garage my rigs..... Jk brother appreciate your time, see ya round

What kind of tape do you use
It's called Fiba tape for drywall. Should be two kinds, one with the cross hatching looser, I like the tighter closer together hatches.

I'm pretty new to the RC addiction but have recently bought a MAXX ... I'm wondering if you have done this with any of the bodies that have the framed cages attached to the bodies?
Yes,
Did it on my XMaxx no problem, took the frame out and don't build it up where it mounts or it won't go back together

You can use it with certain custom paintjob, trust me. 😉 It depends on how it was undercoated and the dry time. Also, something better than shoegoo although expensive is 3M trim and gasket black adhesive. The best body glue I've ever used.
Thanks for the feedback brother... Interesting technique... Might have to check it out some time.

Later bro
@@3SonsRC Can't hurt to try. And like you said, if it doesn't work I can just peel it off.

@@3SonsRC no doubt💯i have to do my kraton 6s blx...a lot of people say use tape inside 🤔
@@3SonsRC yeah Ima try one or the other, just haven't gotten around to it🙄
Nice!!! I like the dry wall tape and shoe gooe but to lazy so just use the gorilla tape and heat gun
I understand... It does take more time. But it is definitely stronger and worth it. I have done the tape methods too but found it does not become One with the body like this does. Appreciate your time and comments... Thanks for your support bud
If I have a clear body on my mojave that I painted what should I use to reinforce it since you said shoe goo isn't recommended? Great guide
@@3SonsRC sweet, thanks for the tips!
Awesome video :-) !
But not every shoe glue is good. Some glues are eating body paint, so it is good to test glue on an old broken body
Agreed 100% brother. That's why I posted in the discription and title to not use with customer pain. As far as I know most or all factory paint should be good, but I would assume you can spray even custom bodies with some type of protective coating after the paint. Appreciate your time and feedback, and for your support/Sub👍👊

So this process you can't do on painted body's?
Will the shoe goo really mess up the paint job that is done?
I have had some guys tell me it messes up custome paint jobs so that's why the disclaimer, I don't want to take the responsibility. But others have chimed in on the comments on this video and said it's good as long as it's Paint for Lexan bodies.
I have not done it with anything other than Factory paint. Others have used on both, I guess just ask around. Sorry wish I had a better answer for you.
@@3SonsRC naw that's cool, you had me worried for a second. I only use the paint that is for the rc body's so I should be good then, just figured I could try this since everyone says it works and protects the bodys real well and stops it from cracking 👍

@@arrmatuff_traxxasrocks_rc1097 NP brother, might be a good idea to do an protective layer over the paint before the shoe goo.

Use shoegoo on each layer?
Yes absolutely, repeat the steps but on the 2nd or 2ed layer you likley won't need to use the glue gun because the shoe goo will hold it in place.

What is the difference in shoe goo and a tube of silicone
Great question, I believe Shoe Goe is slightly more Glue based which makes it more sticky and therfore becomes almost one with the body. I could see you using silicone to fill crevices, but I would rather use all shoe goo
Hope you enjoyed the video
See ya round
Hope your enjoying the channel
See ya round brother
@@3SonsRC that’s exactly right. If the grooves of the tape aren’t submerged by glue, dirt gets trapped there
What's the added weight of this?
She weighs 26lbs without batteries.... I think stock is 24, so about 2+ pounds.... Not too bad, definitely worth it😎👍
I hear some Dudes talking about 30-35 lb rigs.... I don't know, you gotty be trying to get to that weigh. Maybe they use huge mah batteries and super heavy tires and un-necessary (IMHO) upgrades like Vitavon Bulkheads etc?
Appreciate your time brother and great question
See ya round!
Wow, I didn't realize you commented on Shoe Goo Video.... No way it's 2 lbs extra.... I thought you were asking stock Outcast 8s vs M2Cified 🤣🤣
My guess is Shoe Goo MAYBE adds 1/2 a pound if you use like 2-3 tubes but you don't have to use that much.....1-2 works well if you out it where it's more needed
Nice video Dennis! Lots of hard work to do that to a body. I admit I am lazy and just use gorilla tape 😂
But Some Bodies are Sooooo worth protecting
Thanks bud
Why gloves with tape?
It's for the shoe goo brother. That stuff is a mess on the fingers.
Hope you enjoyed the video and channel, see ya round
@@3SonsRC Ahh I got it now
Thats why you use clear silicone ..done dont hurt the body
I have only heard in RARE instances where this hurt the body or paint of the RC with a custom job where the paint is thin, or no backup layer of paint sprayed.... So thats why I put the warning. I have done tons of bodies but never had an issue, appreciate you sharing a different material to use, I have not tried that. The Glue though really becomes one with the body that's why lots ip people use it, you might know if the silicone does as well like that??
Thanks for your time buddy

E6000 will work if you can't find ShoeGoo
Absolutely.... I'm convinced it's the same stuff.... I have found it's cheaper as well.
Bash on my friend,
Hope to see ya round
Anyone think of plastidip over the tape?
Plastidip is trash, does nothing in this case, more for looks.
This is the only way I know that really bonds and becomes one with the body, takes more time but if you want stock body to look great and last,

Drywall tape and plastidip 🤔
Sorry brother but that will do absolutely nothing.... Plastidip is meant to peal off, while Shoe Goo is a type of glue that becomes one with the body.

@@3SonsRC 👍
Buyn a new body and use shoe gooo boo on shoe wer its suppose to use 🤣
Huh?
@@3SonsRC 🙏. 😬
WTF are you TRYING to say?
But Shoe goo is so last year better cheaper products out there
I honestly don't know of anything that bonds as well with the body and tape as shoe goo because it's essentially a type of glue, if you know of somthing that bods that well and cheaper🤔 it's only like $4.50 @ Wal-Mart so if your in the states you can do a 1/8 scale for $5 and a 1/5 scale for $5-15 depending on how tough you want to make it. I see some Dudes spraying stuff but then the body still cracks, or the spray armor does.... Open to suggestions but that has worked for me and I bash the he#@ out my rigs
But let me know if somthing is proven better and cheaper, video tested or something, post a link👍because I won't waste a body on somthing I don't know works better, cuz I KNOW this does. Would love to be proven wrong though.
I Do Really appreciate your time my man, hope your enjoying the channel
See ya round brother
Yes , I'm going to try it on my losi 5 t that's coming soon , that was my plan from the begining
I did this today and it sucked. I’d rather buy anew body lol
Hope your enjoying the channel,
See ya round brother
I don't take myself that serious 😎👍
Appreciate your time and comment, hope your enjoying the chennel, plenty of space for differing opinions round here👍
Bash on brother.
Personally I think it's a waste of money... duck tape works just as good way cheaper.
Couldn't disagree more bother.... Used tape on a few rigs and it didn't stop edge cracking at all, it just held together the cracks from falling off but it still kept cracking.... Where as Shoe Goo actually becomes one with the body especially when done right and really helps edge and impact cracks. I have 15 RC all Bashed hard and the few rigs I used tape on have fallen apart while all my shoe goo bodies are still in operation, but it's cool bro, this is RC, everyone is entitled to there opinions, but this has been my experience

@@3SonsRC cool bro, lmfao. Ca glue and fuel line on the edges.
But you've re-assured me by saying drive similar to me and your body has lasted quite some time
They need to start making better bodies for rc cars. It's kind of ridiculous at this point.
Agreed, but there is added cost in everything, I do like how traxxas and now the Corally Asuga have reinforced bodies where the cage or body clips go
Appreciate your time brother, hope to see ya round
@@3SonsRC It might cost a little extra, but there is so many "how to reinforce RC body" videos, that it's time for a big change in the hobby. Manufacturers need to start making good RC bodies. I really don't think it would be hard or cost too much and I'd be willing to pay a little extra. Honestly it's plastic, those bodies are so thin, what's adding a couple more layers really gonna do. We got restaurants out here literally throwing away plastic containers when they sell food.
A good idea , but being that a new body cost $15 more than me buying 4 tubes of shoe goo @$18 each . Just buy a new body. Go Bash have a great day
Thanks for your time,
Depends on the body, if it's a 1/5th scale and want to go nuts like I did, 3+ big tubes, but you can easily do 2 Fantastic layers with one big tube on an 8th Scale.
