Given the attractive looks, features and decent interior quality, I would say 40k driveway would have been a good price. Unfortunately decades of poor distribution and marketing hasn't really help the reputation of Peugeot as a brand in Australia.
Have owned the 2024 Allure model for a month now. Absolutely LOVE it. Looks amazing and feels top quality. So nice to drive and am so glad that I didn't listen to the French car naysayers :)
I have an Peugeot 2008 2021 Onyx Black Allure 130 HP. Very happy with it, and it really stands out. You know for fact that you are driving a good looking car.
This new Peugeot looks great. And it has some real buttons and knobs on the dashboard, which is such a relief. There’s even a proper volume knob. So much better than using a stupid touchscreen slider or haptic button.
Looks so much more stylish than nearly all other competitors. Well built. Great to drive. Superb interior. We love ours just worried they'll become super popular. Don't want to end up looking me Audi, BMW, Merc; driven by every other driver....in black or grey....dull. Great review.
Fortunately I don't think you'll have to worry about Peugeots becoming too popular here. People are badge snobs and will always pick the German brands first. Enjoy your lovely 2008 :)
We have one and like it except that you seem to sit on it, rather than in it. Good handling if you push it, very good, and it feels safe, well built, no squeaks or rattles of any kind. Our is the 130bhp with 8 speed auto (Spanish spec - Allure+) and we are pleased with it.
Thanks for your review Nathan. This has got to be one of the standouts in its class. If we believe all the other reviewers we should all be driving VWs and Mazda’s.
Its the right car for a female, empty nesters, or a small family. Any which way you evaluate it, nothing comes close to it in exterior or interior looks. Pity the incoming cars have most safety features removed. Excellent video though!!
This is why i'd go for the lower spec model. Smaller wheels and Big tire profile, This car will never be a sports car, But on 16 inch wheels with the auto box. Its a very comfortable motorway mile muncher.
Can't understand why Peugeot has included a volume knob when there's a volume control on the steering wheel and also on the infotainment screen. That should have been dedicated to either the fan speed of temperature control. Just a stupid inclusion! Otherwise a cracking car and it's one I'm going for at the end of the year because Peugeot seem to be the only manufacturer that still, sensibly, uses a torque converter gearbox. So much easier to drive in heavy traffic!
Was hoping for something a little wackier from the kooky French tbh. 1287 kg kerb is pretty good for an SUV. I do wonder about the longevity of all these new high output small capacity engines tho.
@@AnyoneSeenMikeHunt What car and engine? it's very unfortunate Also Peugeots and Citroens - and now Opels and all Stellantis cars based on PSA - are light. Less strain on the engine compared to competitors.
@@hrrrrr2084 Lets just say it's a French engine. Yes it's unfortunate and it's too common. Cars are getting heavier not lighter and the one that went bang is one of the lightest. High output + low capacity = high stress. Result is reduced lifespan. This is unavoidable physics. I've learnt my lesson.
The passenger seatbelt is very awkward to slot in, I also wish there was a button to close the boot, and I can't see the speedo in centre as the steering wheel is in my line of vision.
Peugeot in general are making some beautiful looking cars! In particular the 508 Touring, but as far as SUV’s go, this is definitely a great looking one. Good review Ponch.👍🏼😎
I wonder how this stacks up against the Skoda Karoq. The Karoq is on the small side of the mid-size segment so it's only around 8cm longer than the 2008 and in a similar price bracket.
I fell for this mermaid chant a few years ago with my Peugeot 106. One day in the highway a rock broke my windshield. 7 months later and 30% of the car price to replace it, I could finally have it fixed and sold to an unfortunate soul.
A mate of mine once said buying cars is like dating women, if you go out with the gorgeous exotic one she will be high maintenance and eventually leave you and take a lot of your money..eurotrash cars 🤣
Great review Nathan. My partner and I just watched this and she said to me I think we have found my next car 😊👍 And my partner also said. “They should show the car at night a lit up interior and exterior”
At my wits end!! Should I get this GT Sport or the Ford Puma ST-Line V?? With the Puma spec'd with the opening glass sunroof (2008 does not) and the park assist function, 10 speaker B&O and easier to read instruments, I really can't decide. The 2008 does have 20more KWS as well and all that torque...
Hi Nathan 👋 Thanks for the review...but I would like to have seen the HUGE sunroof operation...and more of the Car features...and slightly less of you just chatting away...but Thank You for the review... Cheers Mate 👍
Great review, had a test drive a few weeks ago it’s a beautiful car to drive. My wife and I are looking at buying one I must admit a little concerned regarding the price still a lot of car for the price.
Fantastic exterior & interior however pricing is bit high. It does miss few safety/driver aid features such as High Speed emergency braking, Rear cross traffic alert etc. Anyway the main concern is about the resale value.
Thorough and comprehensive review as always Nathan. I can't get enough of Chasing Cars reviews. My wife and I are just about to order the Kamiq Monte Carlo - might have to have a look at this one on the way through.

It’s a beautiful looking car. Had a close look at one last weekend. Wouldn’t own one though as I’m scared of running costs and longevity in European cars.
Im speaking as someone from the UK who never owned, but worked for a Peugeot Main Dealer Parts department for almost 30 years and only left late last year. The key for engine reliability seems to be a combination of driving not just town.....premium fuel and regular oil changes with quality oil,as this engine's cambelt runs in oil. Also i notice Peugeot Australia offer a more lengthy warranty than its UK equivalent ( must have something to do with size of the market ) as essentially both models are the same, UK or Australia are RHD! The product Peugeot offer is a lot more premium than when i first started with them, the last 7 years has seen a massive upturn in quality! ( and yes that includes electrics !! ) A lot of issues can be eliminated by a simple download from a Main Dealer as basically they are rolling computers nowadays!! Hope this helps,as for spares prices sorry i cant speak for you guys, but in the UK most items are reasonably priced, the only parts prices that shocked me were for outer trims like lower door mouldings etc.

Great review Ponch. You’ve convinced me to take a closer look at both the 2008 and 3008. Just need to verify the seating position. Any chance of reviewing the 3008 if you haven’t already?
I once had the displeasure of driving a rental of the previous model and a total shitbox it was: cramped, no comfort and it drove terribly. Even my old Renault 4 used to be much better. People down here in Brazil buy lots of these and their competitors, which are equally awful. Go figure.
