Just for anyone seeing this video.. The Throttle linkage is on the left side (when looking at the motor from the front). The choke linkage is on the right. The vane that was removed is not the governor, the vane is for the "auto choke".
That is interesting that one engine still uses a vane style governor and the other has an internal . Good job cleaning the carb and getting it going once again.
Great troubleshooting Mr. Fix-it Man!! . . . Question for ya . . . when you packed and thinned out your garage stuff in Minnesota, what do you wish you brought to your new shop but didn't, and what did you bring that you wish you hadn't?? haha . . I'm packing my polebarn getting ready to downsize to 2 car garage . . . thanks for the video . . . . Rog
Oh, regrets, let me count the days and the ways. I gave away things I should have kept, and kept things I should have given away. I try not to think about it too much, since what is done is done. Blessings as you lighten your load and trim the wick on your hoard. LOL Thanks for stopping by.
Thanks for sharing George. This should help people with this model of Husqvarna and engine. A lot of work just to remove the Carb. Tell kevin to listen to and do what the doctors tell him to do this comes from someone who Had his Aortic valve and more replaced in 2009!! God Bless.
It's not THAT difficult to remove the carb. The average mechanic can do it but being mentally prepared to remove so many bits is the shocker. Good thing is that the majority of the pieces can be left off to test out the new carb. Once it is confirmed to be good, getting it all back together is simply a matter of doing simple assembly.
@@TheShadeTreeFixitMan Thank you. It was ignorance on my part. I finally found out how to identify the registration plate and have now ordered the proper carburetor model. I hope!
Thank you Duke. Just to let you know, after comments from you and Missouri Oldtimer, I am going to fix the Cub Cadet and just keep the Husqvarna for a parts machine for now. Maybe I will come across another V-Twin engine to put into that one.
Sounds like it needs a good carburetor cleaning or a new carb. Thanks for stopping by. I have struggled with the same issues, sometimes fixing but other times replacing.
@@TheShadeTreeFixitMan I do know what I'm talking about That's the problem is you still don't know the difference The governor is connected to the bottom of the block right underneath the carburetor not to the choke lever That vein opens up and shuts the choke off when the engine starts It doesn't control the governor That's old style thinking they used to cover the governor years ago not anymore
@@TheShadeTreeFixitMan do some homework a little investigation and find out for yourself and then do a correction to the video I understand your attempt but it's not correct
Any carburetor will work, but you'll have to swap the linkages over from your original vane style governor. I haven't found one that is a direct bolt on with the correct linkage. Sorry.
You'll need to reference the model number for your engine found on the valve cover, if it is a Vtwin engine. In the case of this one you can find it at Jack's small engines: www.jackssmallengines.com/jacks-parts-lookup/manufacturer/briggs-stratton/briggs-stratton-engine/400000-699999-series/44r800-to-44r899/44r877-0001-g1/carburetor-fuel-supply Hope this helps and thanks for stopping by.

Engine model # is deeply stamped into metal valve cover. Older B&S, number is stamped on side of metal shrould...lightly stamped, clean area gently and use chalk t highlight number. Sticker with number on plastic shroud is an emissions number...worthless for obtaining parts.

Yup, what he said. Thanks
Great tear down and troubleshooting Demo George. That will definitely help someone who has one of these mowers.
Thank you Larry

I was surprised to see the differences, especially considering the one with the vane is the newer motor. Thanks for stopping by
Ya because it's not the governor. It's the choke
I had the same issue I bought a new carb but it doesn’t have the linkage on it for the vane every carb I look at doesn’t have the linkage
Sounds about right George . It would be to user friendly to make them all the same .. Great Job getting it running !! ENJOYED..
Thank you Shawn.
Congratulations on a great fix George! Too bad after all that fun, you had to work LOL!
Mowing the lawn was the real fun! Thanks Matt

I've done the coils, plugs filter the list goes on !
It is worth maintaining your mower, but determining the problem first is always helpful.
Great fix. That engine is really badly water damaged and the carb looks very difficult to get to and pull apart

Happy to help. Thank you for stopping by.
My problem right now and I've replaced the intermediate brake / clutch switch, seat safty switch when I release the parking brake it shuts down !
Bypass the seat switch completely and check your clutch switch wiring.
Thank you. This helped!
Glad it helped! Thanks for stopping by.
yes those are really hard to work on, I've only did a couple of them and that's a couple too many. lol
Removing the carburetor is waaaaayyyy to complicated, especially compared to the Kohler. Thanks Vernon
yes you can tell it was in a flood, but you got her going George, good video and good job thanks George
Thanks so much.
Interesting setup George, nice work, sounds good, :)
Too complicated for a lawn mower. I like the Kohler setups better.
Good video. I have the exact mower and now in need of a new carb. Thing only runs on full choke.
Thanks for stopping by and glad that it was helpful to you.
Thanks. I had a nest in my carb lol
