What about height? I'm a 14 year old Filipino guy standing 5'10 and I'm probably still growing, Its literally the only good about me, I want to know if I even have a chance, I mean I do take care of my body aswell like I exercise regularly and have regular showers and brush my teeth twice with an electric toothbrush, I also have a mesomorph body type, not an ectomorph or endomorph body type. Edit: I'm actually 5'11, I'm nearly 6ft I'm getting there bois gonna be 6ft at 15 - 16 😁 and just to point out I was born a raised in Australia and English is the only language I speak so I have no clue what some of yous are saying to me 😅

I lived in Philippines almost half of my life. The people there doesn't actually have standards, you can go out bare faced and no one will care about how you look. As long as you respect other people, you are beautiful.
agree!!! pero minsan talaga ikaw pa yung maiinsecure sa sarili mo dahil may nakita kang maganda kaya ayon, hahahah. pero parang wala namang beauty standard dito maliban sa pagiging maputi lol.
@@goonattackmebijj2051 To be fair, pagkinausap mo yung mga bata ngayon, halatang ayaw na nila ng whitening products, kahit anong kulay ng balat nalang basta makinis. Ginagamit lang pampaeven-out ng mga dark spots lol yung media lang kasi ang ayaw magmove-on 😂
"No one will care about how you look" maybe this modern days na nagsisilabasan nayung iba't-ibang propaganda and internet influences. But Filipinos in general? Mhiee siguro dahil magkaiba lang tayo ng province or lugar na kinalakihan pero namulat talaga ako na mapangutya ang mga pinoy lalo na kung unsual sa mga mata nila. I don't meanany ill-intent it's just my own opinion lang din, yunlang thanks
Yep, unfortunately so. As someone who's half-Filipino (British Filipino), my fair complexion is considered beautiful, however, in the UK, it's somewhat the opposite.
That's just how it is, if you are white you tan, if you are tan you want to get whiter. If you have a straight hair you curl it, if you have a curly hair you want it straightened, those who has beard shaves it, those who doesn't wants to have it.
I think white people misunderstand about the whiter skin. It has nothing to do with white people...lol Asians been having this lighter skin as a beauty standard throughout history before even ever seeing a white person...lol
There are three standards of beauty in the Philippines: 1) Morena / Moreno - Dark skinned beauty 2) Mestiza / Mestizo - Light skinned beauty (Caucasian features) 3) Chinita / Chinito -- East Asian features (Chinese, Japanese, Korean) Filipinos like symmetrical face, healthy looking body and and healthy skin. It doesn't matter what color you are. In short ayaw namin sa mukhang mabaho, mukhang di naliligo, mukhang sakitin at mutain. Hahaha! (Yan kinorek ko na, "East Asian", kaya ko lang sinabing North eh kasi North of Philippines.)

😂😂😂 It's actually always been like that. We Filipinos have one national language which is " Tagalog ". Tho since the Spanish and the Americans have a great effect to our country because of the wars. So naturally we speak Tagalog to English to Spanish words. Oh a fact: we have multiple languages here in the philippines depending on the area u live in.
@@patricianicoledanila3088 English and Filipino are the 2 National Languages of the Philippines. Hindi lang Filipino. Hahaha. Lalo na sa corporate world, English is what we Filipinos commonly use. 😊
Thank you. It's actually because English is our second language, it is taught in school, and it's what we use to communicate with other people in social media. Spanish because of the colonization and influence. It's like, inherited. People got used to the language so they adopted it up to the modern age and it's still changing. It's common in every language to have shortened words and slangs, so that's basically the combination☺
Their language is like Spanish, English and their own all mixed together! I’m actually so surprised they think slanted eyes are attractive and a good beauty standard because almost all North East Asians countries wanna get plastic surgery to have bigger eyes, Y'all are beautiful though
It's because most Filipinos already have big eyes, so big eyes are viewed as common. And some of the native tribes and poor people have the biggest eyes of all, so Filipinos dont want to look like that. Small eyes are associated with rich Chinese immigrants and Korean pop stars. Thats why Filipinos like small eyes
Yeah most of the filipino word is derived from Spanish and we Filipinos used to speak Conyo(Filipino+English) on casual conversation. About eyes. Maybe because we're used to it. It is very common to us to have a wide eyes and double eyelids too. So we want something new. That's why some of us choose slanted eyes over wide eyes.
You can definitely see the different types of Filipinas here. Some look Chinese, one looks Indian, another looks Spanish. Such a melting pot of different features.
You could say the same if you did an exact interview in Malaysia or Thailand. Having a slightly pointed nose or lighter skin does not correlate to looking “Spanish”. The vast majority of us Filipinos don’t have any Spanish ancestry but are Austronesian with Chinese fusions . The vast majority of Filipinos look Asian because genetically we are, not Spanish in the slightest. If you have been to Spain you’ll be aware they are European people and don’t resemble Filipinos at all. Their definitely are Filipinos with Spanish blood but they are a 0.5% minority and many nowadays have less than 5% Spanish blood due to how long ago it was. Other than that, we Filipinos look strikingly similar to our Asian neighbours in Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, etc because were genetically related to them. Also, I did not see anyone in this video that looked Spanish in the slightest???? They all looked Asian.....
I’m sorry, but I did not see anyone in this video that looked Spanish in the slightest???? They all looked Asian.....do you know what Spanish people look like, seriously?
@@racooncity3325 I 100% agree with you.. everyone in this video either looks Malay south East Asian or mixed with Chinese. Korea is the most extreme on that topic out of any country around southeast/ east asia and even south asia (which is india ,pakistan ,nepal, bhutan, sri lanka)
Korea's beauty standards are WAY too high. They literally rank beauty with criteria: how small your face is, how high your nose is, if your face is flat than you're not as pretty, how white your skin is, your proportions, and etc.

many filipinos: envies half-breeds/multi-racials also filipinos: are already *M I X E D* edit: i think indonesian, malaysian and other austronesian genes on us doesn't really make us "mixed" since... we're austronesians and we used to be like the yugoslavia of the ancient south east asia which is the "maharlika" kingdom. it's definitely the american (continental), spanish, sino, and japanese genes that makes us mixed and others to have slanted eyes. aboriginal filipinos such as "negrito" tribes are all african pygmies who are the first ones to set foot on this archipelago, which means african pacific islanders are the very first ones.
bro, filipinos arent mixed, if we're talking about being mixed with different races, then forget it because less than 10% of filipinos have spanish blood. we only have spanish names because of a dumbass law imposed by whites saying we can't have our own names.
@@sipping40s2 mix doesn’t mean only Spanish blood. Other people are considered mix If they intermarriage with other race! We Filipinos are also mix with east asia and south asia because of the maritime trade in pre-colonial.
There are three types of beauty among Filipinos: Mestiza, Morena, and Chinita. You can actually hear them discussing it in the video. *Mestiza:* Fair-skinned Spanish (or half-White) looks *Morena:* Dark-skinned native islander (or South Asian/half-Black) looks *Chinita:* (previously also called "Mestiza de Sangley"): Fair-skinned East Asian (Chinese, Japanese, Korean) looks Admittedly, they're not equally preferred. Mestiza is still by and large, the preferred look, due to the influence of Hollywood media. While Morena and Chinita are about even, but aren't that far down either. There are also stereotypes about them. Chinitas are seen as more submissive and delicate, Morenas are seen as more passionate and cheerful, while Mestizas are seen as more confident and sophisticated. Also, the same standards are applied to men: Mestizo, Moreno, and Chinito, except there are slight differences in preferences. For example, Chinitos are seen as more intellectual or richer, while Morenos are seen as more masculine and stronger. Mestizos are more or less in between those stereotypes.

A lot of Brazilians become celebrities in the Philippines. Search Daiana Menezes. She has lived in the Philippines for like 20 years and speaks fluent Tagalog. Also Daniel Matsunaga. He's really popular. Filipinos like the Japanese-Brazilian look because it reminds us of ourselves
I am a Filipina.Still a lot of us prefer to stay natural without any surgery to alter our faces and body, although conventional beauty is what meets the eye we still value more on ourselves as a person and prefer to work on our careers and dreams than be problematic about our physical appearance.
Riana Krista Mandia , it's like we have this Ideal standard of beauty but we don't want to resort to plastic surgery to achieve it. Plastic surgery for beauty purpose is a big issue here, diba? I notice people will appreciate a beautiful person but when they'll learn s/he has undergone some 'retoke' / surgery, the people will make it a headline as if it's the end of the world lels. "Oh she's pretty BUT it's thank you doctor. I wonder what her kids look like...blah blah". But I think, if a face reconstruction is really needed due to health problems or accident then people might understand / sympathize.
Yawina Rada True. Tama yung sinabi mu na minsan necessity ang plastic surgery (e.g. Celebrities, Models, and those who suffered accident that needed reconstructive surgery) Their body is their responsibility, and its a choice. Nevermind all the negativity those judgmental bird brains would say. It always depends on the individual whether they want to do it or not.
as a filipino in canada, i would say filipinos are friendly but if you play online games you’ll see a whole different world... and i think the whole thing about canadians being nice is an overstatement. we’re pretty much just like americans
Filipinos still have basic beauty standards like most Asians but they're not obsessed by those as they were thought to loved themselves and appreciate their natural beauty. Philippines do have diversity, it's just need more confidence to spread it to others.
We are proud of our own color, but this interview found some Filipinos that they really don't know the big proportion of proud of tan color I'm sad that they just talk without thinking that many Asian will watch this and Asian judge because of some interview !!!

That's why you'll push yourself to get fairer skin, but I got lazy trying to be fair haha and realized 'who cares' I'll just embrace myself. Us, Filipinos should learn how to lift each other and appreciate. PS I really find Ylona Garcia beautiful.
Why would we bash you for being morena? I think both fair and morena skin is pretty. Minsan nga gusto ko mag pa tan Kahit konti even though sa tingin ng family ko i look better pale. As of now, many Filipinos are embracing and loving their natural qualities more. Thanks to some celebrities who promotes natural Filipino looks on their social media. Accepting what you have and being satisfied with it you won't feel ugly anymore. As long as you know who you are and what you have. MABUHAY ANG MGA FILIPINA!!!!
Wrong. I don't see that at all in the Philippines. Filipinos have embraced western and east asian countries' culture so much that our beauty standards don't stray far away from what the people living in these countries look like - same for the men. Ironically enough, people here in tge comments talking about appreciating our own 'Filipino' look have K-pop celebs as their avatars. Speaks much of your stand on this whole "beauty standard" thing.
Dark skinned Filipinos are under represented in the Philippine media. Darker skinned Filipinos especially girls (children) needs someone to look up to, someone to relate to, that they are beautiful and appreciated no matter what their skin color is. Representation matters.
Filipino here, come to think of it, you're right lol (I never pay attention to most Philippine media lol, not my tastes XD) I notice how they are always "Get this product and your skin will become more beautiful blablabla" and the celebrity acting for the commercial is always fair skinned. Come to think of it, isn't Duterte a bit dark skinned?
When I was younger, the reigning beauties on TV were the caucasian mix. Then the east Asian mix were in vogue. These mixed beauties were fair. It wouldn't be incorrect to say that in those days, to be a celebrity you had to tick off the "fair" checkbox. But the younger celebrities these days are now a mix bag of fair and dark. It's even ok to have an accent now. So I have hope that our standard of beauty is evolving to include all types of colours and ethnicities in the country.
One could argue that the media is representing what Filipinos think is attractive. That's a free market for you. What I like about the evolution of American television is how very popular tv shows aren't necessarily about people who are born wealthy. I don't watch Filipino tv. Could that be part of the problem. The storylines?
@@mariaellaprezzadegorio6996 dont be offended. I just think there is no such thing as the most beautitul in the world. Every country has its own beauty
The Filipinos perspective of beauty is more positive than that compared to South Korean who only wanted to opt for fair skinned people... I like their (Filipinos) positive vibes...
Koreans are extremly superficial, especially about the face. Just have slightly bigger face (not a small slim face) ur already seen as ugly, which is why koreans who had naturally bigger faces very often get surgerys done to make theyre face shape slimmer.
Generally Korean features are not ideal in beauty so they resort to enhance them by artificial means through cosmetic surgery. They are fair and white and fairly tall but the factual feature ms are “Champuy” in looks. Many Filipino likes Korean beauty because they are mainly very white, porcelain complexion, tall and lithe but facial wise they suck.
Some schools in the Philippines specially elementary and high school implements an "English Only Policy" where we're only allowed to speak Filipino of course during Filipino subject. If we use pure Filipino/Tagalog during Math and Science class, our nose would probably bleed.

BTS ON BILLBOARD I can relate so much! I’m Filipino and I was born there but I’m not the typical morena. I’m pale, a bit on the pinkish skin tone and my eyes are lighter than the typical Filipino eye color. Idk if you know about the show Wowowee but when they came to NYC, I auditioned to be a dancer in the show and everyone asked me how I found out about the audition. Filipinas are absolutely beautiful! I don't know why many of them wish to be mixed, they should be proud of their ethnicity and unique beauty. Fair skin doesn't mean 'being automatically beautiful', they need to know that having darker skin can be beautiful as well.
Filipinas want to be mixed so that they have a lighter skin and have more Western features due to colonization. Also, mixed-race Filipinos are shown in media so that's what Filipinos consider to be trendy.
Hana Gabrielle Bidon you're simplifying it too much. Filipinos like a mixture of European and East Asian features. For example in the video, most of the girls said they like slanted eyes. Those are East Asian eyes, not European. Filipinos these days really admire the Korean look. So it's not all about Europeans anymore

This actually made me cry because as a Filipino I'm the darkest member of my family and I'm very self conscious of my skin and envious of my mom's white skin. So seeing this and being told that Morena is the new beautiful it makes me feel more happy and content with my skin color.
Most of the developed world has left this stupid preference behind. There are new standards for fitness, skin care, etc... but not for race. This will catch on to the Phillipines. I'm very white but I'm more attracted to dark skinned women.

The Philippines is one of the only few countries that can appreciate all kinds of beauties. However due to being a "developing nation" it has a tendency to follow the hype, whatever is "IN" or whatever is the dominating culture that is taking over the world. Before the rise of KPOP or any Asian dramas, whoever looks American or WEstern or Spaniard was already considered pretty. And now that Korea along with it's neighboring Asian countries are slowly taking over the world through its popculture, the media has also been trying to follow the trend and whoever looks East Asian is now considered pretty.. Take that girl's opinion as an example 0:38. She and the rest of those who were interviewed are very white-washed. As opposed to the comment of that cute girl at 0:53. Her face fits today's mainstream standards young people are crazy about. But it is so humble of her that she seemed to appreciate more of the real beauty of our locals. How ironic.
Umm the Philippines is not considered as third world country - it doesn’t suffer the problems that most third world countries have like worldwide famine, rise of diseases, and over 100% inflation rate.
What i like the most about my country Philippines is our openness when it comes to different types of beauty. We dont just focus on asian looking, tanned looking, latino looking, spanish looking. We appreciate every beauty. I guess, we are the only asian country no?
By saying that we are the only Asian country, you probably mean that we are the only Asian country who are open to any beauty. Who doesn't focus on a specific beauty and appreciate all kinds of enchantress. My opinion is, yes, definitely is! But mind that all people have different kinds of perception. So it's just really up to you to think if you're beautiful or not.

You can definitely see the different types of Filipinas here. Some look Chinese, one looks Indian, another looks Spanish. Such a melting pot of different features.
Definitely
There are three types of beauty among Filipinos: Mestiza, Morena, and Chinita. You can actually hear them discussing it in the video.
*Mestiza:* Fair-skinned Spanish (or half-White) looks
*Morena:* Dark-skinned native islander (or South Asian/half-Black) looks
*Chinita:* (previously also called "Mestiza de Sangley"): Fair-skinned East Asian (Chinese, Japanese, Korean) looks
Admittedly, they're not equally preferred.

I notice how they are always "Get this product and your skin will become more beautiful blablabla" and the celebrity acting for the commercial is always fair skinned.
So I have hope that our standard of beauty is evolving to include all types of colours and ethnicities in the country.
exactly
One could argue that the media is representing what Filipinos think is attractive. That's a free market for you. What I like about the evolution of American television is how very popular tv shows aren't necessarily about people who are born wealthy. I don't watch Filipino tv. Could that be part of the problem. The storylines?
Hope they give my dark skinned childhood justice some day 😭

The Filipinos perspective of beauty is more positive than that compared to South Korean who only wanted to opt for fair skinned people... I like their (Filipinos) positive vibes...
Koreans are extremly superficial, especially about the face. Just have slightly bigger face (not a small slim face) ur already seen as ugly, which is why koreans who had naturally bigger faces very often get surgerys done to make theyre face shape slimmer.
Generally Korean features are not ideal in beauty so they resort to enhance them by artificial means through cosmetic surgery.
How ironic.

Who doesn't focus on a specific beauty and appreciate all kinds of enchantress. My opinion is, yes, definitely is! But mind that all people have different kinds of perception. So it's just really up to you to think if you're beautiful or not.
