Today's reading and recap threw it right in my lap, this is how I feel when my children disappoint me and don't acknowledge what I've sacrificed for them. It's hard as a parent nit to lash out at them in their all about me nature! Then I realized we all do this to our heavenly father everytime we sin! Wow....that's some tough food to swallow! Oprah said that she first rejected the God of the Bible when she heard in church that “God is a jealous God.” But in King James English (the Elizabethan English of Shakespeare’s time), the meaning of “jealousy” was closer to its Old French (and therefore Middle English) roots of being “filled with longing, love, carefulness, and zeal.” In fact, “zealous” is related to being “jealous,” in its origin, too. This means that God’s jealousy for me means that He loves me, and loves His people with the passion and protectiveness that a husband lavished on his wife. No one will ever, ever come between me and my California Girl, and God feels that way infinitely more when He sees my heart stray. And guess what: He corrects me with a passion that brings me back to Him.
I remember when she said that! I also remember close in time to that when there was an audience discussion about Jesus or maybe just faith in general, and Oprah very rudely cut off a woman who was kindly trying to present the outlines of the gospel. After those 2 things I stopped watching anything Oprah was involved in. To me, she revealed her true colors. We need to pray for her.
What Oprah said was basically, "When I read that God was a jealous God, I realized that's not for me. I don't want a God that is jealous of me." How completely misguided is that interpretation?

Our sin breaks His heart. He has shown mercy and compassion throughout generations yet His people still rebel and have hard hearts and worship idols. We still do, even today. Even with all this knowledge... I still fall short and am in need of His daily compassion and mercy. Thank you, Father, for not giving up on my wayward heart. Search me. Know me. Test my anxious thoughts. Lead me in Your way. Keep me. Guard my heart and control my tongue. I give it ALL to you. Now, later, and forever. In Jesus' mighty and perfect name I pray, Amen!
God loves His people, and He has desperately tried to warn them as they wanderered further from Him. He told them what they were doing was wrong. God asked them to come back to Him. But they didn't listen. They worshiped the things they constructed with their hands. The people worshiped the sun and forgot God, their Father. God even told them what He would do to them, He warned them over and over. Finally, God punished them. Their hearts were hard against God, and consumed with idols of the world. Ezekiel 7:3 NIV "The end is now upon you, and I will unleash my anger against you. I will judge you according to your conduct and repay you for all your detestable practices." God, I know I have elevated earthly idols of my own. Guide me, move my heart, change my sinful heart, and guide me back to You. Lord, we all fall short, but You are there waiting for us every time we fall away and come back desperate and alone. In You, Lord, may we find complete fulfillment. In Jesus' HOLY name, Amen.
“He reached out what seemed to be a hand and took me by the hair. Then the Spirit lifted me up into the sky and transported me to Jerusalem in a vision from God. I was taken to the north gate of the inner courtyard of the Temple, where there is a large idol that has made the Lord very jealous.” Ezekiel 8:3 NLT The idea of God, being jealous, is just exemplary to me how much love he truly has in his heart. Despite being specks of dirt in God‘s ultimate, great plan, which none of us can interrupt, he still continues to pursue us. God is so good.

One of my favorite verses is Roman 6:23, For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. He is where the JOY is!!!

Ezekiel had a very difficult and dark job- Gods wrath was devastating. Israel crimes were dark, perverted 😢and idolatry was the norm. As well as God loves is as strong as His anger. His plans of destruction makes me tremble. I want to experience God's 💕
God speaks through Ezekiel the judgment He will bring on His people because of their idolatry so they will know that He is the Lord. The phrase you or they "will know that I am the Lord" is repeated multiple times.

God says the remnant is not innocent. He saves them anyway but we don’t know why. IMO this is an example of unconditional election.
He might have been saving a remnant from the line of David because he knows that's where Jesus will come from.
