The rear one condensates because it runs all the time the front one is running. Ie any time compressor runs the evaporator is working. The blower may not be used but evaporator and rear heater coolant are independent of the blower. Temperature is controlled by a blend door. Dirty air brings contamination from the air plug in the quarter panel.
Thank you for posting. Great job with this video and explanation. A few questions… 1) do we know the cause of the leak? Poor quality of evaporator? Other? I saw where there was a recall on 2015 and prior vehicles where an open design blower motor was allowing tiny copper particles from the motor wiring to be blown onto the evap and ate away at it causing the leak. Chevy came out with a closed design blower motor that would stop this from happening. My concern here is that we replace the evap and then it leaks again. Was the cause fixed? 2)can they possibly design a more difficult to access evap, good lord.
I feel chevy should recall the traverse!! I am not rich i am disabled but my hubby works. We had a car my mom gave us but the front end was bad and it was falling apart. I am a grandmother and I am the 1 person who was available to take all 8 of my grandbabies to and from school. Well my hubby and i were afraid the car would break down. So we went to find a car it had to have 3rd row seats. Cause i have bunch of kids to transport. So we decided the best option would be new. I am 54&he is 60. This was our very first new car. And i am so upset with this car. Its only 7 yrs old there should be nothing wrong with it. But the air stopped oh and that was another thing the new one had to have working heat and air. I have had nothing but troubles with this car. I feel ripped off. I feel like chevy used cheap parts. And the only one who is benefitting is the parts people. Cause I keep having to replace them. Its a money sucker and it is NOT right. The interior is even cheap. I pay 520. A month i only have a few payments left. But im right back where i started. With a car that has so many problems and im scared everytime I drive it. If chevy wont make this right. I will NOT ever buy another chevy. Infact i will tell everyone i know and meet NOT to buy one either. Fix this
Vehicles in general are just garbage nowadays. My 98 durango has never had any issues with the A/C. Every vehicle I've owned since selling it has had issues with the A/C. It's so frustrating
Nice find. Is there a solenoid/valve that isolates the rear portion of the system? Does it need to be opened via a jumper or scan tool for evacuation and refilling of refrigerant? Thx & Cheers 👍
What happens in case of an installed at midway of inside the dash. The UV dye wouldn’t be helpful. Any ideas to how to search for a leak in evaporator installed right inside the dashboard
This is never easy to find. On front evaporator you will always have condensation taking place and water should flush some of UV dye out. Sorry I don’t have better answer for you my friend
Thanks, I'm going to look there now.
Nice find my friend. I will be in your great Commonwealth next weekend. It's Kentucky Derby Time!
Have fun my friend. Looks like weather will be nice.😊👍

I honestly don’t know my friend. I recharged AC system with correct amount of freon and worked great.😊👍

That’s bs , chevy should be ashamed , it’s an entire task just to rectify the AC ? 🤦🤦🤦🤦🤦
