I never imaged I'd see Mr. Bungle live. They were powerful and tight.

I thought I could climb the downpipe and shuffle along a first/second story ledge. It was only when I was hanging from the external windowsill by my fingers and his hench security came up to the window and starting pounding my fingers with his fists I realised I had to climb back down or potentially fall and break myself lol. Once down he came to the window and through a banana at me and laughed.

Way more brutal than I had expected. The technical weirdness of Voivod, the extreme edge of Possessed, the free structure of the Melvins, with plenty of Bungle's own unique touch which can't be compared.
Wow I never heard this early of Mr. Bungle and I didn't realize how heavily they were influenced by extreme metal. It's interesting how much they lost the metal sound in their later music. Their trajectory as a band is extremely curious. I love Mr. Bungle, one of my favorite bands for sure. I just read that they reunited and I live in the middle of nowhere so I won't be able to see them live, but I hope so much that they end up releasing more studio music. California was my first album, I bought it randomly on CD in 1999, (I was about 15 years old), and it's still magical. the first time I heard it I was just very confused but it kept growing on me and I listened to the rest of their music and it didn't stop growing on me.
I wonder why Trey, Mike, and Trevor decided that performing this demo tape in its entirety is what would bring them out of their nearly 20-year breakup.
They said they wanted to go back to there roots after playing completely different styles of music when they got older. And Trey said when lombardo and Ian joined the band it would of been crazy not to make a remake of there true thrash era being joined by there heroes. He also said the music still resonates with them all these years later

I was lucky enough to see them play in (Winooski?) Vermont after the California album came out. It was just as unreal and wonderful as you would think. Within 6 months of going to the show, I got stabbed, and my California hoodie was confiscated as evidence. I better get a good replacement if I'm able to make it to one of the shows in February! I'm soooo psyched!
Nice to hear some old demo material. Sometimes marginal we can hear to where the way leads. The virtuosity of the guys shines trough. The virtousity and geniusity that we are chosen to listen on the mr. Bungle album, the disco volante album and the california album. This old demo tape is the missing link. And the later albums are the albums i prefer. This albums are milestones for this band.

I have a copy of the Scourge demo tape from 1990, that Jed gave me. I uploaded 3 of the four song demo in 2014, since a fourth song was already uploaded by someone else. That was the last collaboration original Bungle drummer Jed Watts did with Trey and Trevor. Shame Jed isn't doing the reunion. Of course, I haven't spoken with him in 23 years, so I don't know what his current status is.
So I’m getting tickets for this tomorrow (hopefully), but I’m really hoping they cover more of Bungle’s material. I mean, this is good... but their repertoire is so extensive and diverse, it would be a shame not to explore it for the reunion.

Faith No More, Mr. Bungle, Mike Patton in general...been in my top three artist of all-time for a long time. When I was a kid it was 'The Real Thing'. I dusted off that album years later to find out there was sooooo much more. Got Angel Dust, King for a Day, Album of the Year...and at the same time found Mr.Bungle. Self-titled, Disco Volante, California....fun, wild albums I kept on repeat. From there I had to hear more and got into Tomahawk, Fantomas, Peeping Tom, and pretty much anything he touched. Listened to all this stuff over and over and over. Flipped the fuck OUT when Sol Invictus came out. Faith No More had a new album!? Get out. Dream come true. I probably kept that thing in my car's cd players for a good year or more. So awesome. ....so fast forward to earlier this week when I heard Mr.Bungle was gonna be in three cities, limited time only, select shows....WHAT?! I jumped out of my chair, literally. I see they will be playing only 3 shows, and performing the album "The Raging Wrath of the Easter Bunny." The first part of me is instantly figuring out how to make plans and get off work to head up to NYC, but the second part of me is saying..."I've never actually listened to Raging Wrath...wtf man. You call yourself a fan!?" So I did, just now....it's awful. It's terrible. I understand it was 1986, this obviously experimental band just starting out and attempting to find a sound which eventually was out of this world, genre-defying, and all over the place never staying in one spot...but Raging Wrath is just not easy to listen to. This is coming from a guy that would probably defend Mike Patton farting into a kazoo for an entire track. Though seeing him live is on my bucket list, I am not as quick to buy tickets, book a flight, take off work to hear what is easily the worst collection of songs I've heard the guy put out in an over 30 year career.
I'm recording a demo for a band that this drummer is currently in, in Eureka CA :) Jed is a super cool dude and has a lot of cool stories to tell. His jam room is awesome and he is a phenomenal drummer.

Faith No More, Mr. Bungle, Mike Patton in general...been in my top three artist of all-time for a long time. When I was a kid it was 'The Real Thing'. I dusted off that album years later to find out there was sooooo much more. Got Angel Dust, King for a Day, Album of the Year...and at the same time found Mr.Bungle. Self-titled, Disco Volante, California....fun, wild albums I kept on repeat. From there I had to hear more and got into Tomahawk, Fantomas, Peeping Tom, and pretty much anything he touched. Listened to all this stuff over and over and over. Flipped the fuck OUT when Sol Invictus came out. Faith No More had a new album!? Get out. Dream come true. I probably kept that thing in my car's cd players for a good year or more. So awesome.
....so fast forward to earlier this week when I heard Mr.Bungle was gonna be in three cities, limited time only, select shows....WHAT?! I jumped out of my chair, literally. I see they will be playing only 3 shows, and performing the album "The Raging Wrath of the Easter Bunny." The first part of me is instantly figuring out how to make plans and get off work to head up to NYC, but the second part of me is saying..."I've never actually listened to Raging Wrath...wtf man. You call yourself a fan!?" So I did, just now....it's awful. It's terrible. I understand it was 1986, this obviously experimental band just starting out and attempting to find a sound which eventually was out of this world, genre-defying, and all over the place never staying in one spot...but Raging Wrath is just not easy to listen to. This is coming from a guy that would probably defend Mike Patton farting into a kazoo for an entire track. Though seeing him live is on my bucket list, I am not as quick to buy tickets, book a flight, take off work to hear what is easily the worst collection of songs I've heard the guy put out in an over 30 year career.

I'm recording a demo for a band that this drummer is currently in, in Eureka CA :) Jed is a super cool dude and has a lot of cool stories to tell. His jam room is awesome and he is a phenomenal drummer.
