Those of you who are planning to rent a home in Sweden, you can talk to the Renters Association or the Housing Board, to see if the rent but request is reasonable and not usurious rent, tip to try to get in touch with neighbors and hear what they pay in rent and to no misunderstanding should occur when asking about their rent. So start by saying that you have been offered to rent an apartment and they say that the rent is that amount for that size and you want to be sure that you are not paying too much in rent. NOTE important to also find out if electricity is included or added. Be careful with renting housing second hand where they require advance payment but you have not been able to see the housing, then it is often a fraud. It is best to rent through housing companies.
I live in a small town of Värmland, Sweden. I pay 3470kr/month for 48kvm. I have everything I need within walking distance. I can get to Stockholm, Göteborg and Malmö within 3-5 hours. Its insanely more expensive the closer you get to Stockholm (or Göteborg).

In Gothenburg you might want to live and work on the same side of the river. Generally the city center is on the south side of the river, but the northern part is growing like crazy now. Unfortunately Gothenburg is like a large construction site due to all the changes and expansion.
Those are pretty insane prices. But it's because they probably aren't actual rental properties. They are homes people own and then rent out second hand. And charge a princely sum to make money. For actual first hand rental properties you have to register and "stand in line" for literally years. Especially i large cities like Stockholm. I don't live in Stockholm but I am still in such a line for a first hand rental property there since 2008. So I now have 15 years in the queue. Which means I can now get something closer to center of town for a decent rent. Which is still maybe half of what these apartments rent for. If you want something cheap in a very cental location you will have to be in that "queue" for 35-40 years currently. It sounds completely insane but is true.

Yep, this is true! From Sthlm and agree on all of the above. 10+ years and you can get an apartment like 20-30 minutes from the city centre for like 6000-10.000 sek (600-1000 USD), add 15-30 years in the queue and you can get very central and the prices might (then again might not be exactly) be sort of the same, this is for like 2-4 rooms and a kitchen. If the buildings are newer the standard and prices goes up usually. You have to think ahead if you rent for real, with your own contract, but it cost way less - actually affordable (still). And you have more security than 2hand.

Your video made me curious about what the rental market looks like in my hometown Norrköping.
Not so many objects and not as expensive compare to Stockholm, Gothenburg etc etc
But still expensive in my eyes. Realize that we live very cheaply in our house.

Would this type of service guarantee against illegal second-hand contracts? Or, is that not as much of an issue as it seems from reading on the internet?
I also read most of it. I only have an experience with an agency and it definitely protects you but it's also more expensive. Many people rent without agencies though and not all experience fraud. You just have to be very careful and not transfer money without info. I would always ask for personnummer and check it online etc.

Living in Scandinavia is like wasting your life, you just work and work and nothing more. Society built here that way! If you don't work, you are not a person and everyone just turns away from you and no one tries to ask you if you need help! If ... Honestly, very selfish people in Scandinavia, it's the same as being a slave under your own life 😞
