Page sold more Marshalls and Les Paul’s from LZ 1 with a tele and Supro than any advertising Jim Marshall or Gibson could dream up 😂😂😂
Right?
I have this amp with the matching extension cab and it sounds out of this world with everything I plug into it, and it absolutely LOVES P90’s!
I've never had a chance to play through a Black Magick but from what I've heard of them (both in real life and in demos) they're my favorite amp and I've been planning on making one my next musical gear purchase for a long time. I noticed you playing one in videos so I've been waiting for this video for a while and of course you did not disappoint.
This thing is my primary amp, I have one of the early ones with the Supro custom speaker; I have no real opinion about that vs. the Jensen, because this is such a rich and expressive darling that I have no cause to care. I just finished tracking an album with a fair range of material, and my producer and I were both astonished at the tones we were getting. It can get downright nasty under the right stimulation - it loves fuzz with its Channel 2 volume at about 11 o'clock - but she cleans up nicely, and the tremolo is sweet and chewy and just sings and sings. I'm glad you show it off so well! Ain't it something?
That speaker in your amp is the best speaker ever ! It actually sounds like vintage speakers and has the ability to handle more power than vintage speakers ! No wonder you don't want to change it out !😅
I found the BD12 speaker to be more “woofy” when driven, so I changed it to the Jensen, and never looked back.
I have both the Keeley 1968 and the Black Magic 1696RTH and love them both. Between Supros and Victorys, you can’t go wrong.
That's definitely got Jimmy's vibe in it , great playing sir 👍
I love this amp! One of my favorite ever! I agree though it just a great amp tone with a nice midrange more than anything. I use to hit this thing with a Belle Epoch, a Tree of Life and a Hoof Reaper and that’s all I used; plus the onboard tremolo. Does some amazing Zepplin and ZZ Top type stuff for sure. Only gripes with the amp is it’ll run out of headroom, to be expected, and I wish it was just a hair brighter.
I really like the look of these Supro amps, especially the Keeley Custom
That blue denim look I love too - they did that more on their earlier lineup. I have three like it, the Royal Reverb, the Tremo-Verb and the 64 Reverb.
Now I know how you stumbled upon my video about the early sounds of Led Zeppelin and Jimmy Page 😜 Cool video! As a Page fan I've been interested in this Black Magick, but I'm afraid it will be too dark/dense for my taste.
Market research! 😃
That is a awesome amp!
What a great video have a great day Jack ❤😊
Thank you! You too!
I like Supro amps, they have a thing of their own.
brilliant
Nice work, Jack. The Keeley 1x12 is an amp I’ve wanted to try for some time. But this looks interesting to me as well. I can’t put my finger on what the Supro “sound” is. Feel like they tend to be closest to classic Fenders but with more midrange than your typical black panel amp, and darker?
Thats a pretty accurate assessment I'd say. I generally describe them as the "American" sound but warmer and with more midrange.
Best amp I have owned.
I use a Supro 5 watt Bantam 8”. I also have 2, 1 watt blues kings and a Supro super. So I have 4 Supro amps and I have a stereo rig. I have stereo hiwatts. But mainly a super reverb and a tweed bassman Ltd.
And yet I think their other combo with the 15 sounds waaay better! Like by a long shot. Never understood the craze over that sound but different strokes I reckon
I absolutely love this amp! I use it a bunch. Enjoy Jack...
Old valco amps are pretty great if you can find one. Valco made all the surprise and gretsch harmony amps
Do you have the Supro BK12 to compare 🤔? I thought you may have both but I think that would be a great comparison for a video even !
I have - the BK12 is a fine speaker. Probably a wider frequency range? So particularly the bass may be a bit beefier with it. I actually prefer this particular amp with the Jensen though. The tamer bass would actually be closer to the original tone.
Maybe a dumb question, but I’m assuming this has to be really loud to get these overdriven tones?
Yes - fairly loud I’d say. Not impossibly loud, but louder than the norm. Takes pedals like a champ though.
Too much distortion can make the low strings sound terrible.
God please stop talking
This seems rude
Well, that opening sounds NOTHING like the early God, forget it

@@JackFossett On your left Jack
@@JackFossettYep, there is only one God, his name is Jimmy, and i can prove it. But that doesn't deter from my opening statement!
