Final Fantasy has featured some pretty legendary Dragoons (Dragon Knights) over the years, with some notable figures being Estinien Wyrmblood and Kain Highwind.
Throughout this video, we wanted to shine a spotlight on some of the most badass, delving into the likes of Freya Crescent and Ricard Highwind, the Dragoon who started it all way back in Final Fantasy II.

Kain Highwind is genuinely a character who was ahead of his time, I can only imagine how badass he would be in a mainline title now

I feel like estenien was a Kain clone in ff 14 to a certain degree
@@73delgado isn't that the joke about him I mean RABtoons literally made that the joke about him during their Heavensward in a nutshell short anytime someone talks to Estenien they literally called him Kain pissing him off the entire time
@@origialtych lol i forgot about that. I mean i think it was intentional though. Estenien even turns on the warrior of light at one point because he becomes Corrupted by Nidhogg and suprise he becomes an ally again after Nidhoggs eye gets destroyed or something like that.
Kain is a true badass
Estinien making this list gives me so much joy.
Not only that, he was he first one, which is the second most memorable spot on any list. When people think about this video, Kain and Estinien are the most likely ones to come to mind. :)

Dragoon/Dragon Knight is my favorite job class in the Final Fantasy franchise. >_< And Freya Crescent is my favorite Dragoon/Dragon Knight.

He has been QUITE the fascinating character and even though I have not yet completed the Dragoon storyline in FF14, I'm pretty darn invested in the guy due to fan fic and the actual MSQ story surrounding him. Love to make fun of him and love to have him at my back in a fight!
Not only is Kain my favorite Dragoon, he's ny favorite character in the FF series. He seemed so real and I really felt with him with is internal struggles.

I would add that Cid also has to deal with a personal struggle when he must decide between going to space (his personal dream) and Shera's life (his future wife). And he's my favorite dragoon btw.

Sadly i never used cid as a character during my runs. His weapons were my least favorite too.
Freya from FF9 will always remain my favorite, with Kain being a second favorite of mine. I remember keeping Freya on my party at all times when I wasn't forced to use certain characters.
My favorite would have to be FF IX Freya. My only issue with she didn't get enough attention in the second half.
The one thing I'll like to point out about Kain is, he has in my opinion the single most badass line in all FF games.

Kain’s character arc that ends with him as a Holy Dragoon in FF4: The After Years, is one of the greatest in the franchise!

@@nikoladedic6623 I personally think that game is a fantastic game. It’s underrated and I don’t see why so many people don’t like it. I almost feel like it’s another 13 situation, where people hate it and haven’t even PLAYED it because someone on the Internet said it was bad.
No mention of Kain ultimately conquering his own Darkness at Baron Castle after initially losing the fight with his reflection at Mt. Ordeals in Final Fantasy IV: The After Years?!
I agree with you, even though it was just the same route that Cecil did just longer.
And Kain let his reflection escape from the mountain, collect three of the world's crystals on behalf of the Maenad, and almost kill Cecil in the process!

Dragoon is by far one of my favorite jobs in the series. I’ve recently been leveling it in FFXIV and it’s so much fun. As for favorite, it’s hard to pick. Kain has always been my number one but Estienien is quickly rising up the ranks to take the top spot for me.
FFIV was my first final fantasy. Kain instantly became my favorite with the jump and as I grew older I loved him even more as a character. His iteration in dissidia duodecim was so perfectly on point.

Considering the title does not specify Final Fantasy, the list should be: Dart, Lavitz, Rose, Haschel, Meru, Shana, and Kongol.
I'd say Freya was the most impressionable to me growing up.

I love Freya!! Also would have been dope to see what they did with Aranea's DLC.
I feel like saying Freya has torn allegiances is a bit of a stretch, especially when the example used is that she fought alongside Beatrix later. That's not an example of Freya's allegiance shifting, but _Beatrix's_ allegiance shifting.
Kain, Cid, Freya, and Estinien are my fave Dragoons!
Favorite Dragoon (and dragoon is my favorite class hands down) is Fang, but im not surprised and fully agree with your order choice more specifically for Kain.
FF9 was my first FF game and Freya was one of my favorite characters to have on my team. She also had a great role in the story too.
Usually my favourite type of characters are the sword wielding badasses, but right after them it's the Dragoons, they're armour and fighting style look so badass.
Thank you for this video. I played every FF from 0 to 15 (except 11), and dragoon is my favourite class (even in FF14 my main job is dragoon). And Kain is my favorite character, but I love them all, they are all amazing.

Most of them also have either darkish Blue or Purple in their clothes colors.
This might only be in game skins/sprites, but is noticable. Only Freya does not show this color pattern that I know of, even though she does have blue in the bib (???).

I loved Kain and Cecils relationship I always put myself ad Cecil and my best friend as Kain and when we started playing ff 14 I became a dark knight and my friend became a dragoon I miss that game
With out dowt, Estinien is my fav. He has such a great development and evolution through the expansions to Endwalker

ever since i became a dragoon in FF14 it's my favorite class in the whole franchise, Dragoons are iconic, epic & absoultely badass

Cid from Machinabridged is my all time favorite. Angry spiteful old man smoking cigarettes in the back yard not throwing out the butts. Man that's who I want to grow up to be. 1000%
I did not realize Fang was considered the "Dragoon" wow it never crossed my mind. Nonetheless her design and character were good. I am bias to lance users in any game though and bows so 🤷♀️ my picks would probably be based on the games I played. MHW introduced me to the FFXIV Dragoon Armor and my goodness it looked so amazing badass with the MH hunters amazonian bodies.
Freya really got a raw deal in FF9. She's such a cool character and undergoes severe tragedy throughout the early game, but then her entire storyline and relevance just gets dropped for no reason :(
Richard ftw. Rides a wyvern into a tornado, sacrifices himself to rescue the heroes, he's highly underrated.

I'm torn between Kain and Estinien being my favorite Dragoon. Both have awesome character arcs, and Estinien's character arc is tempting me to start playing FFXIV, even though I'm not much of a MMORPG person.
You are in luck! Estinien major character arc is in Heavensward which is included in the free trial! FFXIV can be played mostly solo with the introduction of the trust system which allows you to bring NPCs as part of your party in to dungeons.
not only is his development great in the free trial, the way he acts after that moment of the story is such a delight to see. Also if you ever gives ffxiv a try, I suggest you do the dragoon side quest for some extra dialogue in heavesward, nothing big just a nice detail
Kain is my favorite because it was my first experience with a dragoon. It is where i fell in love with them.
Estinien is amazing too, I love his story arc.
Aranea is definitely a sexy badass those are probably my top 3

Cid has been a mainstay in my party starting from my first ever playthrough back in the late 90s, so he's my fav ofc! Fang coming in at a strong second place, and Aranea with the bronze. Great list!
Dragoon is my absolute favorite job in the franchise, and given that FFIV was my gateway into FF (courtesy of my dad), Kain has always had a special place in my heart. That being said though, I’ve gotten into FFXIV as of late, and I have to say that Estinien is my absolute favorite Scion alongside Y’shtola. And of course, with FFVII being my favorite game in the franchise, of course I absolutely adore Cid.

Let's not forget about Kain's redemption in The After Years
Personally, my favourite is Aranea. Beyond Promoto's DLC and the main game, I like how in Comrades, she is considered one of the main forces, protecting the remaining survivors and cooking for you (which is most important), and her story from the cancelled DLC shows how even though she worked for the enemy nation, she was willing to quit when they went too far, and do whatever it took to stop the super killer death robot (not its actual name) that was going on a rampage and heading to the same place as the refugees were headed.
i played lacrosse from childhood all the way through college and i was a defender so i used a longstick...and from the first game as a child to the very last game as a 22 year old i would imagine myself as a dragoon knight (i would also hum/sing the victory fanfare after wins...was i made fun of? yes, but did i have a lot of fun? you bet your ass i did)
For all the iconic representations that the Dragoon get from the FF franchise, I've just realized that there never was a mainline FF title with a Dragoon as the main protagonist. They're always side characters or party members of the main protagonist but never THE character given to the player as their avatar and center story piece for a game.
I feel though if there was to be an spectacle fighter-style Final Fantasy title (like a FF Devil May Cry), a Dragoon protagonist would definitively fit the bill, what with their usual abilities and powers.
for me it’s down to Cid seeing as how 7 was my first Final Fantasy but also Kain because I loved his story

Ooh, favorite dragoon that’s hard to pick. I’d probably have to go with Kain Highwind although Kimhari Ronso is a close 2nd with FFX being my favorite FF for a while until FF4:TAY came around where now it’s contested which game I like more.
So I went for a drive with my mom the other day and we passed a military base with a big sign that said something like "First Canadian Platoon of Dragoons" or something.
First time I've ever been tempted to join the military! Just so I could say I'm a Dragoon, lmao.
Freya is one of my favorite characters in the series. She in my opinion is top 3 on this list. Fang above Freya on this list is wild to me.
It’s a bit inconsistent due to different art sketches and character models, but some of the dragoons here are left handed. Kain, Freya and Estinien are left handed in game and Cid is depicted left handed in his art. I’d chalk it up to being ambidextrous but that’s a good detail to keep with dragoons.
I'd say the one in the ff16 trailer looks really kool
I think it's criminal that we don't have the nidhogg transform spear that estinien uses at the end of heavensward forward

I’ve been a dragoon since FF4 and never looked back. Favorite job class hands down.
I love Dragoons I've mained Drg in FFXIV since RR just something about the job in not only ffxiv but all FF games that's fun to play. Very much looking forward to seeing what FFXVI brings to the table

I would've said Kain in IV and after years in the past, that is, until I played XVI. The top spot now belongs to Dion MF Lesage. I like to think he survived, as we all know Dragoons don't suffer fall damage. Alas, I fear he is with Great Gregor along with Clive and Joshua...😔...(Salute).
Favourite class in FF for sure. I'll always use spear users in other games too, there are some awesome characters... let's list some.

I love how FFXIV made the spikes on a Dragoon canonically functional. Essentially, the spikes are there to injure the Dragon if the Dragoon was eaten.
Estinien is definitely my favorite. Wearing red armor because it's stained by the blood of a dragon you killed? Easily one of the most metal things in FFXIV.

Cid Because of his old fashioned Pilot outfit and his smokes, he's like Clint Eastwood of Final Fantasy
