We need more stories like this to be told. Sometimes I get the feeling that we live in a heartless society and I love to be proven wrong by hearing/reading about good and dedicated people like that.
Because we're only told bad news by the mainstream media and not all the good that goes on in the world. it's social programming and quite deliberate. They want us to be anxious and fearful, as it makes us easier to manipulate.
That makes me wanna thank my old teacher, Mr. Bopp. I had abusive parents, who both drank alcohol and punished me for being part of their life's. I often couldn't make it to school because the police often took my parents with them after they screamed and hit me. Mr. Bopp always took his time for me, asked me after every class , if everything was fine. It was never fine, I was too scared to tell him what was going on at home. But he had that feeling. Man, I need to thank my old teacher..
It’s really special to find someone outside of family to give one purpose to make them feel appreciated, loved , needed and special with few words all by action

This is what the impact of changing one life will have, Ian will go on to be the same role model for so many more people and it all started with a teach giving a young boy some self worth. Beautiful
I had a teacher like this in primary, her name was Gerda. She was the only one that treated me as a normal kid, i was troubled, got abused and neglected at home and didn't know how to socialize with other kids when all i wanted was to just fit in and be liked, i just didnt understand how. She always encouraged me, never made me feel like a lesser. When i went to High School, i kept visiting her until she retired. I don't know where she is now but i want to get back in contact with her, she has no idea how much it meant to me.
I'm so sorry you had to go through that. Its so nice to actually have a teacher who supports you like this. I have a teacher who also means the world to me and made the teachers from my primary who laughed at me and called me weird and just ignored the things that I truly loved and wanted to make my career be truly long gone as now I have someone who truly supports me. I want to try and do everything in my power to make sure that I stay in touch with him after I leave secondary school (I'm in year 8 atm) as I can't bare the thought of having no contact with him especially if my writing career turns out as he's the one who truly supported me through this.

I’m 47 now, and I still pass her when she is out for a walk or out and about and I’m always civil to her as she is old now, but I always wonder what I could have done if i hadn’t had her as a teacher. I left school at 15, with no education but I did get a trade and I have worked all my life, but I never got to fulfill my true potential. A good teacher is so important, especially to someone like me who was nervous and quiet. One of my ex classmates who is now a teacher, told me at our 40th class reunion that she uses that teacher as an example of how not to teach and she acknowledged infront of everyone how badly I was picked on by that teacher, which, after all that time, gave me almost a sense of relief, as I’d never actually heard anyone say it to me. I had so many great teachers who I remained friends with over the years, but this particular teachers sticks out. I’m so happy to see your comment, because you do a great and under appreciated job.
@@KyloNight thank you for sharing your story. You are absolutely right in that it only takes one to make you feel like you can’t fulfill the dreams and goals you have. I’m so sorry to hear that. There are people who chose to be the best they can be in a profession and others who choose the other path. I’m trying my best to be the former. Sometimes we are all many children have because once they go home there is no love. I will continue to try being the best I can for as long as I am in this profession, which as you mention, is so underpaid, under appreciated, and disrespected. But it keeps me going knowing that I can make a difference in my students’ lives. Cheers and I hope you have found closure after all this time.
You can see from this that mr pigden was truly a great man who really cared about people an children and all he wanted was to pass on love an knowledge…an at the end when I saw he was also a ww2 spitfire pilot it made me think what a hero this man actually was!! Anybody who had the privilege to meet him was truly blessed….rest in peace mr pigden godbless sir
0:32 man that teachers voice is amazing and peaceful
We need more stories like this to be told. Sometimes I get the feeling that we live in a heartless society and I love to be proven wrong by hearing/reading about good and dedicated people like that.
So agree
Okay I have one!!
(I know it's really long....)
Because we're only told bad news by the mainstream media and not all the good that goes on in the world. it's social programming and quite deliberate. They want us to be anxious and fearful, as it makes us easier to manipulate.
The way he took off his hat when they first met, shows just how much respect he had for him!
Thanks for sharing Mr Bopp’s care for you. And good on you to recognize that. Most of us just need little encouragement.
Well? Did you go track down Mr. Bopp or what? Don't leave us hanging here!
@@a.d.3606 I searched for him on Facebook, I found a account with his pictures, wrote him. But he never responded. maybe its an old account?
That moment when his smile turns to a face of complete shock is what gets me
Ian wright first man i seen cry on tv, that was life changing to me
It’s really special to find someone outside of family to give one purpose to make them feel appreciated, loved , needed and special with few words all by action
That moment in 2005 is one of the most touching things I've ever seen.
Ian had grieved for that man so to hear his voice again must have been the most surreal but wonderful moment of his adult life. We all wish we could spend just one more day with someone we miss and love and he got to live that dream. Such a heartwarming story. RIP Mr Pigden.
I grew up when Ian Wright was playing and was in his prime. Liked him then. But now I see him as a person. With a big and beautiful heart. Respect.
The look of disbelief and and show of respect by taking off his hat is on another level
The way he removes his hat the moment he sees him is an amazing show of respect he has for him
I don't know if my tears are those of happiness that such a great man existed or sadness that he's gone
Cried my eyes out when he met Mr Pigden; cried my eyes out again when I saw the plaque they’ve put up for him.
Everybody should have a teacher like that. Mine was Mrs Benson.
love the way he took off his cap in respect very heartwarming
The way he says "He is a great man" 🙏
that is why we want our children to go to school everyday, to see and feel the goods in their life
This is why everyone loves Wrighty, no matter who you support. He's so down to earth and one of us. He even took his hat off to show respect to his teacher. Legend.
Total respect Ian showed .
Love x
I love how Mr. Pigden also also cry’s out of happiness at 1:13 truly amazing moment
Still brings a lump to my throat. Lovely that Ian found his way and realised his ambitions despite all that he went through, he is one of the nicest blokes in football as a result with his teachers guidance. RIP Mr Pigden what a wonderful man.
This video really make me so emotional.....
This is what the impact of changing one life will have, Ian will go on to be the same role model for so many more people and it all started with a teach giving a young boy some self worth. Beautiful
I've personally met Ian around 2002 time and he was the most nicest humble man going. Nothing but respect for him.
If that’s not the purest love for a single person anyone has ever seen, then no one deserves that kind of love
I never get tired of seeing this. Absolute gold.
I often find myself returning to watch This video …. The compassion and humble reactions from both men restores my faith in humanity …two wonderful gentleman…
Ian meeting Mr. Pigden is one of the most beautiful scenes I’ve ever seen. Watched it a hundred times and there’s always a tear in my eye. ❤️❤️❤️
God I’ve watched them meeting again a million times, it doesn’t get old. Just amazing
The speed in which he takes his hat off upon seeing Mr. Pigden despite the look of shock on his face, is enough to bring you to tears. This is clearly someone he held in dear regard. Beyond touching.
As a Liverpol fan I should really dis like you but I can't you are a legend. I love your punditry and after the massive win for the women's team today there is no one who's championed it more than you. In awe mate!!
Each time watching the reunion brings tears in my eyes..so heartwarming..we need more teachers like him..RIP Mr Pigden..a very well deserved recognition at the end too
Seeing that footage of Ian's connection with Mr Pigden makes me teary every time, in a good way. It's nice to see the impact that you can have in someone's life and it shows a lot how much it means to Ian all these years later.
“I’m so glad to see you’ve done so well for yourself.” So simple and from a place of genuine love.
This perfectly illustrates how impactful, powerful, inspirational, encouraging, and important teachers - and men - can be on the emotional/mental development, self-esteem, growth, drive, self-confidence, happiness, & success of an individual!!
Hearing that familiar "Hello Ian" must've melted his heart 🥺.
A bad teacher can do as much damage as a good one can do good.
Mr P and Ian were destined to meet and look at the good that came out ...
Both top guys ....colour is like love ...knows no boundaries .
You can tell how proud Mr. Pigden was of Ian. I wish every young boy had a father or a mentor like Mr. Pigden
Mr Pigden was an absolute legend to be able to leave a long lasting impression on Ian's life...we need more Mr Pigdens in the world today....
Love this story. Don't get tired of watching. When two men cry, it is a lot more emotional.
Such a heart warming moment, pure respect ❤️
This makes you cry he as so much respect for this man❤
That face of happy disbelief. All of us experience death and wish we could see our dead parents, siblings, children, teachers, friends or pets again. Ian looked like he saw a loved one come back to life. What a blessing ❤
This is so touching gets me every time. Very clear what this teacher meant to Ian and how he changed his life. ❤
You may not be able to change the home life but giving a child support at school will help them to be stronger within their own self. And maybe the parent will see the strength and wonder if maybe they need to do better. Blessings to all fine educators and to men like Ian Wright.
The hat off means everything. As the son of a gentleman, I know this. My son will understand this too. Wonderful story. RIP Mr Pigden and respect to Ian Wright.
Watched this so many times. Just brings a smile and tear always. The world needs more Mr Ps and Wrighty.
0:09 The way he emphasized "Me" in his wording really shows how much he meant to him. He knew he was the one.
This is one of the most beatifull moments in tb history, and it made a diffrence in both of theyere lifes, the reverance Ian has for this man
Ian Wright’s tough childhood having a great inspectional Teacher like Mr Pigden was a blessing and when Ian Wright took off his hat showed what a decent and respectful man he is. Ian Wright has proper ethics and is old school family man. A lot of respect for individuals like Mr Pigden and Ian
You can tell since he thought he was dead, i bet all he thought he had left where memories, probably went through some form of grief when he was informed hes teacher and inspiration died.
Hes look says it all.
He transforms into a little boy in that moment. This never doesn't make me cry.
That moment where his voice cracks saying his teachers name, and the surprise and emotion it brings to him- god that made me cry !
Way he got surprised and take his hat off & cried made me cry here ! 😭
Teaching is the best job on the planet. I taught troubled lads in inner city Liverpool. I had the privilege to be one lad’s best man at his wedding as he made a success of his life. Unfortunately I stood at the graveside of one lad who was out of reach and took 8 bullets to the chest.
I am now retired and recovering from surgery for cancer but I look back and feel proud to have been a member of the teaching profession.
