I do the same, just way more careful, using less tape and focusing on positioning the toes CORRECTLY... They need less than 24 hours to recover but it's good to keep it for full 24... Removing can damage the whole leg, so using some warm water is helpful. If you have Both, splay legs and curved fingers, stick the fingers with the tape and put the chick in a tight (tequila) glass after sticking them.
It is normally best to try to fix the issue within a day or two. You could try this method, but you would need to leave it on for longer. If you try it, please let me know here if it works for an older chick!
It could be that your chick is too old to correct it. However, if it is a new hatchling, then it is possible that it's a neurological issue. If that is the case, you wouldn't want to let it reproduce. I've learned that masking tape is so much better than scotch tape in fixing this issue! If you're unable to correct it, you could just leave it and let it grow up. I had one that I didn't see the club foot until he was 5 weeks old. He went on to be one of my best breeders despite his clubbed foot and he was able to keep up with the best of them. Good luck!
@@fromsuburbiatoappalachia thank you for the help it was just hatched the other day iv tryed to use tape but it keeps getting pull the leg away cant keep it still 😆 its drinking for me so il try again when gets built up strong enough

When is it too late to fix this issue? I got some 3 week old quail and several have curled toe.
