They’re actually in moly the whole time until they feather out right before winter. When you see them throw them last feathers right before winter is when those big pin feathers push the others out. All my chickens, I raise gamefowl, have thrown a lot of feathers the last two weeks

I want to know how you hardly cared a rat snake got in your brooder and ate a few chicks in your video "Gone Fishing". The crazy thing is that the same day in the morning a big rat snake got two of my first ever hatch chicks. Also your video's are very informal because the video that you found out that you hatch had gone wrong cause of the window. I had a horrible hatch rate. We could not find what the problem was. I did everything you said. Then when you introduced that video it made sense because my incubator was right next to our window. Thanks for that. I had six hatch three coturnix and three Texas a&m's. Three died in brooder one Texas and two coturnix. Then a snake got my last coturnix and one of my Texas. I had a cage protected from bigger animals (like raccoons, possums, and coyotes) and then totally forgot about snakes. You guys are good at fishing. I went fishing a couple weeks ago in a lake in Taylorsville Kentucky. I only got one catfish! You guys were just reeling them in like crazy.

I have a question, I have a quail hen and she has not yet laid a single egg. She's quite a few months old from what I know, is that normal? Will she ever lay eggs?

Hi SR! I have quail who are losing just the feathers in the front of their neck, from chest to just below the head. I don’t see signs of mites or lice. No signs of aggression or fighting. It has been 100+ degrees during the day so maybe that is stressing them? They in an open air pen but it’s fully covered so completely shaded. What do you think?

Chris . I have 7 week old quail. First time I have ever seen it but they are losing feathers all over their backs .
I’m confused as typically wouldn’t molt this young . There are feathers all over the sand box area.
    Any idea

It isn't all that unusual for birds to molt as they start to reach maturity. I am not sure what causes it but I am guessing it has to do with weather patterns. No real need for concern.

    Exactly what i searching for.
So, lost of feather are not my problem.
But my quail usualy slowly dying 1 by 1 ☹.
Im not breading, got quail just for the eggs.
    Start whit 15, 2years ago...
Now only 2 of them still alive.
First they loose feather, then loose wheight.
    Then die.
First experience was 4 years ago.
Lost the 15 batch the first years.
    I take a 1 years break.
Then again, same problem but less fast.
Not sure if i will take a other batch... ☹
No sign of parasite... just molting, lost wieght and dying.

Hey, I have 6 quails. We have not sexed them yet, and we are letting them mate. They are around 2 months old. My mom heard them fighting earlier, but then it stopped and she thought it was fine. When I went to refill their water this morning, I saw one of the smaller ones with a GIANT peck on its head! It had been pecked by the others multiple times while mating. The poor guy had a giant gash on his head (or hers, I really don’t know yet) and it was bloody. We knew we had to separate him from the others right away, so we make a make shift solution and put him in a plastic bin with baking grills on top and a brick so it would stay. We put hay on the floor of it and I gave it (I hate calling it an it, but lol) a Tupperware lid filled with water and a pile of medicated chicken starter (what they have always eaten). I need advice, what should it’s more permanent set up be? How should we treat the wound? Thanks for the quality content and information as always! I hope you get back to me!
