Great advice on this RUclips channel.Quail are a lot of fun. Don't let your failures stop you. Learn and move on. We use a temp controller on the brooder to keep the temperature close to 100deg. Like you reduce the temperature as the weeks go along. 👍
I like this idea but We do something different. I let them get about about 6 weeks old then we go to the adult cage and we remove all the males to a smaller cage, actually a egg cage. We then introduce the new hatch to an all female older flock. We then process the males. That has worked well but next hatch, we’ll try your suggestion.
When I had C-19 I just felt exhausted for 4 or 5 days I was tested on the 3rd day and they sent me a notice in e-mail that I was positive and congratulations you are actively producing antibodies so you can go back to work now! I put the female chicks in with the one rooster who only had 1 hen. I think they will be alright since he only went bonkers on one of the older chicks. (3 to 5 weeks old).
My quail are 27 days old are they ok outside in enclosed hutch with hay? Our nighttime lows are 8°C / 46°F They are fully feathered and have not had a heat lamp for over a week I just kept the window open for them
What do they eat when you combine them? My quail chicks are 2 1/2 weeks old but they are on 30% chick starter and my older hens are eating layer feed of a lower protein?
Chris, Didn't realize you had started mixing the young birds. I've got room now with attrition of older birds dying, This would definitely simplify things, when possible. I"ll be do this. ALSO; WHO is a HATCHERY to recommend; Mc.MURRUY hatchery DOESNT have any eggs available. Havent't looked lately for other Hatcherys
Do you keep multiple males in the hutch together? I know there should be a ratio but if you have enough females to a male can the males be kept around eachother without any issues?

I noticed on most of his video’s he doesn’t reply to comments. There is only 30 comments here, it’s a shame.
Get well soon. Stinks to be sick.

We are in North Idaho. Nights in the winter are single digits. Do we need heat lamps?

Sadly I didn’t get a notification
But thanks for the video
Hope you get better and don’t have the C-19
Do you use 1/4” or 1/2” wire to prevent feet from falling through?
I just had some older roos kill a 3 week old bird I added in. Poor thing.
Are bob white more aggresive?
