Had a few chicks hatch with curled toes. I switched to dry incubating which in florida keeps a relative 29% humidity. I raise humidity to 70% on day 16. Haven't seen the curled toes issue since. Also hatch rate is now 98% as apposed to 89%
I don’t recommend you fix it on the first day as sometime they can recover by themselves on day 2. Suggest you keep monitoring the chicks and only take action on day 2.
Thanks so much we just hatched about 70 quails and on one of them there foot they can barely walk on so they can’t get food or water so we don’t think it can survive and I’m scared so this is so much help and I will definitely be doing this!
RBLX tv thanks for watching my video! I do hope this can help your chick. Just for sharing, If the eggs are from your own layers, chicks curled toes problem sometime happened when the layers are lack of vitamin B2. You may try to add more greens to their diets. I do see improvement to my newly hatched chicks here. Hope this info can help you. I would appreciate if you can also help me to subscribe to my channel :)
Shalom! Thank you so much for this very informative video, I am a grandma and my first time incubating chicks 3 hatched and one was born with the curly toes. Our little chick is four days old, may we still try this great method. Thank you and Blessings to you and yours from Southern California
alex calderon I agree with you when I tried to use tape after this video was filmed. But most importantly is to add more greens to the quails’ diet because curled toes is the sign of deficiency in vitamin b2
@@redyolk6115 yesterday I hatched 5 out of 9 eggs and i got 2 with curled toes and one with wry neck 😥 it's my first time hatching quails too. I fixed them tho fortunately they recovered and look normal
I use nonstick bandaides when I encountered this issue. If you see it becoming more prominent try running humidity in mid to upper 20s the first 15 days. It helped. Assuming it's not a genetic trait from interbreeding
@@alexcalderon5158 don't count the chick with stargazing out. It can be corrected with a little tlc. I cut back on calcium 2 days before collecting eggs with my breeders so the shell isn't as thick. I've not seen the issue since
Thats a different chick in the morning shot Haha. and I'm sure I seen 4 hands at the beginning, let them help you 🤣🤣, I've done this and yes its so tricky to stop them moving about but it does work
Did it happen just recently or since it was born? But anyway I don’t think there is anything you can do at the 5th month. Just let it enjoy the rest of its life! I got one leg’s bone is dislocate and I am unable to help anything too.
I just held its toes in to the correct position every hour or so for 30 or a minute or so. After a few days the foot was fixed but that was for day old quails so it might not work for older ones
I am having a 10 months quail when she was small her legs was normal but from 2 to 3 days her leg is curled I am worried about her please tell us a treatment for her
I normally fix them at the second or third day. I observed that sometime they recovered by themselves at the second days that’s why I don’t recommend to fix at the first day. To prevent this happening again in your future hatching, you should add more green in their diet and prevent inbreeding. Good luck!

Awesome what temp do you incubate at?

I've used Blue Painters Tape. When they look Strong, a drop of vegetable oil on the tape will cause it to fall off in time.
I have one little guy that hatched with both feet like this, and let me tell you this is HARD. I'm going back for attempt 3 in a few minutes.
Absolutely! I totally understand how you feel. Try to get one more person to help you holding him.
SAME it's more difficult than I thought
Button quail are even harder!

Dear madam, I’m sure you still can help the little ones with this method at their 4 days old. God bless you.
Using tape as the base was so much easier on these little babies

Don’t think there is anything you can do for a 10 months old quail now.
I have a a quail chick that hatched yesterday and both of its feet has curled toes and I was wondering when I should use this technique.

🥰😍🥰🥰🥰😍😍😍😍
can i treat at day 12 or its too late now ?
It’s a bit late but suggest you still try
I have a small chick who's 1 finger is crooked
You need an extra set of hands to do this....
MA or you may also use tape for both sides to sandwich her toes, instead of using cardboard as the base
Chicks needs diapers
Thanks to Allah
