I love rv and camping cooking. The videos are my favorite. I only did one rv cooking video but after watching this I have to do more. Keep them cooking videos coming the chili looks great! Happy travels, Lou.
We always do meal planning and prepping before camping. Your chili looks great, and its a great way to stretch meals out over a week in the woods. And food is always better when you are in nature! Thanks for the video. I subscribed!
Haven't finished watching yet (I will though)... I just couldn't wait any longer to say that I'm SOOOoo happy to see somebody on the road cooking in cast iron. I love my cast iron; use it all the time. Was happy to hear you say what you did about tomatoes (acidic ingredients) in cast iron. I've never wavered from cooking chili (which of course includes tomatoes) in my iron; am just mindful to do a little extra re-seasoning after. I've had some people balk at the "cleanup process" for cast iron; it's HILARIOUS to watch their reactions when you say "NO soap! Ever." (Which isn't entirely true; I've used it on occasion but again, just like acidic ingredients, only when I know I'm going to be doing some serious re-seasoning after. I rarely use soap. Very, very rarely. Just hot hot water and the fire, then some oil to reseason.) Friends have been impressed when I made pineapple upside down cake in the iron - but honestly, it's so easy. Many people just don't realize how versatile cast iron is and how well it cooks when it's cared for properly (which is the key). I use my iron skillets for eggs ALL of the time. Great video you two... I know I'm doing a rewind in that this vid is from a couple of years ago but still, LOVE your channel. Safe travels, y'all!
In the voice of Forest Gump " chili, chili dogs, chili mac, chili taters... Ect." Lol had too. My dad was a big chili guy. He used to make with is chili burritos (chili, rice and cheese), and we even used to do chili spaghetti. Those are both great. Should try them. Ive been looking for a decent chili recipe. Your's seems very similar to my dad's (RIP dad) chili. I may have to give it a go. Im just getting into cast iron cooking too.
Excellent! Love to smoke brisket on my Weber when at the house. I been wanting to get something for on the road, Davey Crockett looks like something I need to check out. Nice job. Now to dig my grill out of the snow bank :)😃
Thanks Micheal! The Davy Crockett does a great job on everything we've thrown it's way and has lasted well. You can find them on Amazon if you'd like more info: amzn.to/3wOpuWi .
Looks Great and will sure warm you up on these cold Texas nights we have been having this year. I love the cooking videos added in . That is some good lookin chili mac at the end !
Thanks! And thank you for letting us know you like the cooking videos. We’ll work on some more in the future. (And yes, that chili mac was pretty darn tasty.) :)
Thanks for the suggestion, Randy. That is still a work in progress for us since we have so much of it. We will definitely talk about it in a future video.
More cooking videos would be great. Thanks for the Texas Chili recipe. All the different Chili meals looked really good too. Watched this video before eating lunch so got to go.
You all are enjoying life and retirement and that is a nice RV you all have too. The chili is looking great and must have lasted you both several days after being cooked.
Hi Nicholas! Sometimes we go simple and just use Velveeta, milk & butter. It’s not the healthiest route, but it tastes good and it’s easy. We’ve also experimented with using milk, butter, cream cheese or a Mexican melting cheese & a variety of shredded cheeses. Our mac & cheese is different every time we make it because we’re always experimenting to try to make it a little healthier.
Thanks Susan! If you are using can beans, we would add them in about the last 10 minutes so they warm up and have a little time to work in to the flavor a bit, but don't turn mushy.
LOL! Love the apron. We're vegetarian but still love a good chili recipe minus the meat. Really cook to see how you cook the chili over the fire. Just learned something new. Thanks for sharing! Peace & Happy Holidays! 🎄🌈🎅🏻🌈🎄🌈🎅🏻
+The Glamping Guys Glad you found it helpful! The good thing about chili is you can make it with anything you like! We love cooking over the fire. It’s so easy! Peace & Happy Holidays to y’all!
Hey what’s going on y’all... That Chilly looks so good omg and the Mac and cheese mixed in with the chilly ya I wanna see more cast iron cooking please...Thank you guys for sharing...☮️
Thanks Skippy! We will definitely do more cast iron cooking videos. Glad you enjoyed it! Have you seen our dutch oven beef stew video? ruclips.net/video/veRqY3Xlphg/видео.html
Great video and the chilli looks incredible! One wee question, my D.O hangs off level like yours. But mine has a side lip and I thought this was the reason it's hangs like that. I guess cause of stove based cooking, I try and get it to sit level, but it's an impossible task. Is it just something you have to accept when it's hanging?
Glad you enjoyed the video! Thanks for the comment. We try to get ours as level as possible by adjusting the tripod legs and sliding the hook along the dutch oven handle. Depending on the cooking area, sometimes this is more challenging than other times. As long as it’s level enough to safely cook and not have the oven fall over or spill, we don’t worry about it being perfectly level.
RV Texas Y'all Thanks so much for getting back to me. That’s really what I wanted to hear. It’s only a tiny bit off level. Maybe an inch max, I have a little autism and like things to be even, I’m over thinking it. But no harm in asking. Got a subscription out of me!
We list one like ours in our Amazon storefront in the RV Safety section if you'd like more information about them... www.amazon.com/shop/rvtexasyall?listId=7ZC8POW5RVL8&ref=idea_share_inf. It gives us outdoor and indoor temps, wind speeds, humidity, forecast info...
That campground I am finding hard to understand why anyone would have stayed there. You have an apartment on wheels and looks like you have the means to get to something that is prime. I don't know if that is florida or texas but if you see me walking around that place shoot me dead. I am in the mood to cook chili in my dutch oven so I clicked on this. The national forest campgrounds up north spoiled me.
First time viewer. I really enjoyed your chili video!
Please do more cooking videos ❤
We’re so glad you enjoyed it, thanks for watching! Welcome to our channel!

+RV Habit Hi Lou! Thanks so much. We love camp cooking videos too. In fact, we’re watching yours now!

Thanks for the video. I subscribed!
I prefer corn meal instead of flower to thicken it up. Gonna be doing some of this chili this weekend
Great point, we will use that next time!
I like that you made meal after meal with a big batch of chilly and showed it, Good stuff
Thanks! That’s one of the great things about chili.

That is my kind of a meal - looks great. Anything cooked in cast iron over the fire tastes better IMO.
+Tennessee Traveller Thanks! We totally agree. Everything tastes better when it’s cooked outside. (Especially over a campfire!)
You guys are great.
Thanks so much James!

Hi Victor. Glad you enjoyed it. We should look into getting a hanging grill.

Thanks for the suggestion, Randy. That is still a work in progress for us since we have so much of it. We will definitely talk about it in a future video.

About 1.5 hours
Sure making me hungry. Looks great.
+Jean Decker Thanks Jean!

I've never tried cilantro before but we always put sour cream in our chili. Looks great!
Thanks David! We love sour cream.
Looks nice and strong enough to keep the heat in the Norwegian woods...love from Norway :-)
Hi Peter! These cast iron dutch ovens hold their heat very well. Tom’s family is from Norway! We would love to visit there one of these days.
RV Texas Y'all you really should visit Norway. Its a beautifull country
Wow, you guys have a lot of cookware fo living in a small space. I LOVE cooking over a campfire. Jayman...
Hey Jayman! Lol I guess we do. We love to cook! Campfire cooking is the best.
You all are enjoying life and retirement and that is a nice RV you all have too. The chili is looking great and must have lasted you both several days after being cooked.

Thank you Renee! 😋 Everything tastes better when it’s cooked outside.
Whoa, you need to tell me more about that mac & cheese at the end. How did you go about preparing that?
Hi Nicholas! Sometimes we go simple and just use Velveeta, milk & butter. It’s not the healthiest route, but it tastes good and it’s easy. We’ve also experimented with using milk, butter, cream cheese or a Mexican melting cheese & a variety of shredded cheeses. Sure looks good. I wish we had smellivision too!
+Linda Gross Thanks Linda!
I really enjoyed your video. If you were using beans, when would you add them?
Thanks Susan! If you are using can beans, we would add them in about the last 10 minutes so they warm up and have a little time to work in to the flavor a bit, but don't turn mushy.
More cooking please
Thanks Horacio!

Another easy chili spin off meal is Chili Cheese Fries, Chili (on top of) Hamburgers, and the simple Sloppy Joe!
I have to ask, what is the white thing standing beside your table that has the spinners on top?
That is our weather monitor.
Oh ok. Thanks!
