GITAFTERIT!
You can't deny one thing about almost all Kayos (and a couple other Chinese makes)...the darn factory exhaust systems do sound fantastic.
True story!
So I’m new to the game and after hours of research and not wanting to buy a 01-08 used bike for 5k. Decide to go with the K2 230 for starters…. I’ve owned it for 3 months and the bike just goes…. It’s real fun for the price …. Perfect for learning.
Carful tho she’s got some torque, she took off from under me.. lol
Bike took a punch n still goin.. 👍 good video
I’ve had one for 9 months and have only had 1 issue that wasn’t caused by me an it was after 8 months of no problems an only needing to replace spark plug time to time and it’s the stock carb. Take that off things brand new great bike
Great video man. People need to start to look at these bikes as more than garbage. But you mentioned the kick starter doesn't have great reach. I noticed the same issue with mine. Well, the reason that the footpeg on that side of the bike the spring doesn't work is so you can fold it up and get the full reach of the kick start. Hope this helps.
Yea I actually found this out when I requested a new spring from kayo themselves
1:56 Shift lever; I treat mine as if were a
precious diamond, I will do any mod necessary
on a bike to get my shifter out of harms way, yours
looks to be hanging out there a bit. I'm told that
to replace the splined main shift shaft means taking
the motor apart.
I used an aftermarket
lever that suited my requirements in length and ability to
be bent to be in the prefect position and spot. If looking
straight down from the seat, you can only barely see the
peg and when shifting up it almost hits the clutch cover
with about 2mm space is all. I got used to pointing my
tow inward, when finding the shifter and changing gears,
having toe or toes pointing inward does not put the foot
in harms way, in fact many experienced instructors
tell us to keep toes pointed in, in general, for a couple
of very good safety and skill-set reasons. Nice bike!
I'm pretty sure you don't have to split the case but I haven't dealt with that yet
Hey, I had a question if these take gearbox oil. I do see there are two unscrewable tabs about the shifter. I got this used on a killer deal and the other guy didn’t know what he was doing with this. I looked through the the owners manual on Kayos website but it didn’t mention anything?
As far as I know, they use wet clutch safe motor oil. Just make sure it’s wet clutch safe, regular car motor oil is not good for these!
Is it counter balanced? I know hawks are now.
getting one this week.
I just smashed my ignition barrel and need to replace. My question does it need a 4 or 5 wire ignition I can't remember and not with bike atm.
Thanks for the great review and let me know how the phone charger is wired to the bike or could a solar powered charger work on the bike. Thanks and be safe of your riding adventures.-
I just wired it straight to the battery, it has a little on and off switch
Still holding up strong? How many miles or hours does it have on it? Cheers!!
56.8 hrs and only thing I've done is brakes and oil changes, well and a tire upgrade
Lasts pretty long if u take care of it properly, only problems that should be looked out for when u get it is the stock chain and the carb. The carb works great for about 5-6 months then starting gets harder bc the fuel level is in even an it’s clogged but once u put a bigger aftermarket carb it’s brand new again
2:22 What is your ball park elevation to have gone
up 4 and 3 jet sizes? Did you move from the factory
notch setting too, or leave it 'pat' ?
RIght after this you wrapped your pipe, lol, I thought
I was the only one on dirt bikes that constantly fights
getting boots scrapping and getting a bit caught up
on the heat plate ... lol good solution, I'd like to find
a heat shield/plate that wraps around more than
the typical to hopefully eliminate the 'catching boots'
issue.

Any idea what the wattage is of your stator?
Did you get a decent owners manual, parts list.
Do you have a link to the parts source for your bike?
My elevation I around 1000ft and I have since been running a different size carb Than thet one so my specs won't be exactly the same
@@parrottmatt23 Cool, thanks..
Where do you find parts for these things? I Know in the first video you mentioned you’d have to buy parts from a dealership? I live up in Washington and pretty sure the closest dealer is like maybe 6 hrs away.. can I call the dealers and will they ship?
Try kayousa.com, pretty sure theres a parts section on there. At the very least you can hit the "contact us" section and go from there
I mean they should he able to ship, what parts are you looking for?
@@parrottmatt23 im looking for a kickstand for the kayo k6-r
New rider here. Got a 2021 k2 230 and just finished breaking it in when I dropped it and it hit a rock. Put a hole right through the left stator cover enough to leak oil everywhere. Finding a replacement part is impossible. Dealership said they don’t have a breakdown for the motor and I might need to get the entire thing replaced lol. If anyone finds some secret parts catalog please share.
Looking online....Nash in Auburn, Wa appears to sell them and i think also in Bremerton, Wa.
What skid plate did you use?
Haven't put one on yet, but going to start doing some research on that actually
What barkbusters are those, because I am getting that bike and I want it to have barkbusters, so I need to know what ones to get
I'm a French this is good bike? Price quality?...
Novice
Its is a great bike, especially for its price point!
Before you changed the jets, did yours bog down badly when twisting the throttle open? Sometimes its worse than other times, once its warmed up itll bog and recover and continue on through the rpm range.
Yea they are jetted horribly from the factory, I've since installed a 28mm nibbi flatslide with 138 main jet and 38 pilot jet and it opened it up dramatically
Also for the stock nibbi I used 145 main and 45 pilot but it honestly depends on elevation and I'm at 900ft
Does anyone know if the KO 250 EFI has a charging port
Where can I get the choke I need to replace mines same bike
I’m looking into a used 2021 kayo k2 230 from a 61 year old man who bought it new back in may . He decided he didn’t like riding dirtbikes and got hurt. It’s got 5 hours on it I’m 6’2” 250 lbs he paid 3k offered me it for 2k is this a bike I should consider to trail ride for someone who’s looking to just cruise around or should I avoid it
We know personally that its a great all around bike! Well worth the money for both beginners and advanced riders!
I'm 200lbs and it's perfect for trail/woods. I climb hills, jump it and use it for water crossing with no problem. Mines also modified so keep that in mind
Is that the 172 fmm engine? What carb is it on and jets that you have changed? Nice ride, I use it for lite medium enduro
Its Matt's bike. But I know that its got a nibbi carb, not sure on jet sizes. I'll find out though!!
It's a nibbi 28mm, I put 145 main and 45 pilot jets in. I've switched to a 28mm flatslide nibbi race carb running 138 main and 38 pilot as of now
What's your height and weight if you don't mind? I'm a hefty guy at 6ft so curious if it would work for me
I asked because I was looking at the ssr 250s but I like the look and the sound of the bike not to mention the price
6ft, 200lbs
The seat breaks in!? Thank God my tailbone is on fire.
Where did you buy the new jets? Gotta get some for mine
Amazon just standard mikuni/pk jets
@@parrottmatt23 thanks bro!
your shifter is adjusted way too low. it should almost be parallel with the bottom of the engine case. you're gonna catch it on something again
Thats how I've always rode, if I ride with it parallel it adds alot of strain on my ankle
Is it fun?
Sure is! Durable too! This bike has taken a beating from everyone here at RCC and just WILL NOT QUIT
kayo t2 230 or orion rxb 250?
We haven't had the chance to check out the Orion but we've heard good things! Can't go wrong with the Kayo though!
In the end, though, its about personal preference and budget!
hi do you recommend any good importer from china to new zealand for these bikes cheers
Our bikes were purchased from local dealers, or were previously owned. So we didn't need importers.
However, I would look into who you are ordering from and who they use, and research the companies themselves. Not sure if they allow an option to choose importers or not.
Hope this helps!
Hey I just got mine 2021 230 and Idk why buy after I get it fired up it will idol but as soon as I let off the chock it dies :/ any ideas what I should do?
Mine does the same here in Australia, I’ve been riding it on the second choke setting but would love to fix this issue !! Maybe it’s the carby jetting that needs doing ??
You gotta let it warm up. Use the chock just to start it up, after it’s on put the chock back down and let it b for a while~10 mins n u should b good.
what led light bulb did you use ?
We tend to use Sealight LEDs in all of our projects
The peg aint broke it goes up so u can kick start it and it wont hit the peg
It took us a minute, but we figured that out lol
Can you put a link for the jets you got
I think the “PWK” style jets work in those carbs. You’ll have to fine tune for your elevation/mods/etc.
Hope that helps!
@@RattleCanCustoms thank you man keep up the great videos
@@jimmydavison7708 thanks for watching!
What are key differences between this
and the K2?
From what I’ve seen, the K2 is more of the next phase of the T2. Updated frame for ground clearance, giving it a more motocross look versus the dual sport style of the T2. But I’ve also seen that they’ve removed the link from the rear suspension?
Other than those, the bikes have the same engine and whatnot.
@@RattleCanCustoms
What would that result in, I take it
you're saying they removed the link
of the K2? I think the K2 is 223cc,
maybe the same block as the T2
just not bored to 250cc or 249cc
whatever the figure is, I think they
say the T2 is the 250 engine, not
positive though. shrugs..
@@bikersoncall from what’s online they both use the same engine, both 230cc.
They removed the rear suspension link for the K2, where the T2 has it.
@@RattleCanCustoms I didn't realize
or forgot they
had a KT230 out, I thought it was just
the KT250CC vs K2 230. What do you
think the results are of removing
the link in the K2 230?
Can you change plastics on it ?
Some company based out of Germany makes injection molded pre colored replacement panels. I just can't remember the company's name
Thought they were 223cc?
248ccm stamped to the jug
Where can you find an oil filter for one of these?
Try to call a kayo Dealership or kayo online
How tf u do the oil change or where’s the oil filter can’t find that shit. Don’t wanna take it to the dealership
@@imnotsure5267 nevermind, there isn’t an oil filter, just a small screen where you drain the oil.
@@BrettSchram where lol
@@imnotsure5267 I have a k2 and I think it’s like a 17mm socket right near the shift lever. Take it off to drain the oil and it has a spring holding a little cup filter. As far as I know that’s all there is.
No wheelies?
Nah, I can wheelie the hell out of a 4wheeler but not so much a dirtbike. But I am practicing every time
@@parrottmatt23 4 wheelers are easy. Learn on dirt bikes then street bikes.
Hafadai from Mariana Islands~~~
To me me it doesn't have the power I'm looking for it looks gutless rather spend a little more for a bike that's got some balls
Yea I get that, it's honestly not terrible. I mean its no 450 but for a woods/trails bike it holds its own all day and doesn't over heat
What size jets did you use ?
145 main 45 pilot. I have now put a nibbi 32mm flatslide race carb. Still have some fine tuning to do but a 32mm carb really opens up the motor
Any plans on showing what you did to the air box ?
@@larryanderson8643 there's a small, and I mean small scoop on the top of the box to let air in. I just cut the scoop off and made a bigger square
