    Looks like more boutique pedal companies are going for more affordable pedals to expand their customer base. Honestly a win-win since it helps sustain the companies and offer more options for consumers.

    These all sound quite good! 2:00 Josh said in the semi-recent Sweetwater best selling pedals video that one of the main things that inspired him to do the 3 series line was EQD putting out pedals like their fairly priced Plumes OD. To see the effect that kinda thing continues to have on the industry is really cool!

    I wouldn’t consider Walrus “boutique” at this point. They sell a ton of pedals, have worldwide distribution and mass produce these. Boutique is becoming a bit of a marketing term these days.

    The test of a good classic fuzz is if the volume control can clean it up, and it didn't get tested, but it did on the mid+ setting and it didn't cleanup, so it only leaves me wondering why.

    • @stoneysdead689
      @stoneysdead689 Год назад

      Because only two transistor, fuzz face style fuzz pedals do that- other fuzz pedals may or may not, depends on the pedal. Means nothing when it comes to judging quality though- some of the best, most loved fuzz pedals in history don't clean up with your volume control. The Big Muff is a great example- none of the many versions offered will clean up with your vol. control.

    The sliders don't work for me. I agree they are easier to manipulate and set, however they always move during transport from one gig to the other. Sliders are better suited for something that is static and needs visual cohesiveness, like an equalizer for instance.

    • @stoneysdead689
      @stoneysdead689 Год назад +3

      Don't your knobs get moved as well? Mine always do. That's why I have written down all the settings for each pedal and what sound it corresponds with- so I can quickly dial them in.

    • @p6x2
      @p6x2 Год назад

      @@stoneysdead689 Actually, the knobs on my pedals are not that sensitive to movements. I know that because I use "white out" to make small dots to mark typical settings. Surprisingly, I don't have much of a change between sets. But I try to be careful during rig downs. Same for my amp.; knobs remain largely undisturbed. I use the clean side of a Fender "The Twin", and the only important pot. is the Volume.

    Respectfully disagree about the side mounted power inputs. It's bad when both jack sockets and power are on the side (and right next to each other), like on MXR pedals, Catalinbread, and Fulltone OCD because one always gets in the way of the other. Side mounted jacks tend to take up more space than the one (angled) power cable, and you generally don't want your pedals flush against each other anyway because you might step on 2 switches at once. I'd say top jacks and side power is the best compromise.

    • @stoneysdead689
      @stoneysdead689 Год назад

      I hate side mounted power or input/output jacks- top mount is so much easier and neater. Everyone says this about the power and input/output being too close together- but I've yet to buy a pedal where they won't fit, and I have a lot of pedals and use 3 different kind sof patch cbales. It's tight, but they fit so- why does that matter? I'd rather have them all as close to one another as they can be- it keeps the cabling on my board nice and neat and makes it easier to use a zip tie to bundle them so they're not flopping around loose.

These are digital too, you can get analog clones for less than £50 and perfectly usable pedals for £30. He’ll DOD and Digitech coming back, so these pedals need to be £60 max.
