Walrus is on the $99 pedals train with their 'Fundamentals" lineup. I requested the 4 pedals I was most interested so that's what they sent! Fuzz, Reverb, Delay & and of course Tremolo. I think its a pretty strong lineup, BUT WHAT DO YOU THINK?

  • @-processdrone-

    They had me at "sliders",
the design style - graphic line into the LED - only adds desire to that. THAT is presentation.
Every time you let a chord ring on that fuzz (in "classic" mode) it showed no signs that it would ever decay out. Us Doomers need a sustain test on that (play one chord & start the clock) to see if it really does have the epic sustain it appears to have.
The reverb ( weak point in any budget line) delivers really well on audio quality when it probably shouldn't, sorry it didn't drip for you.
If i were in the market for a delay I'd be sold on those spaceship capabilities.
This line has a lot of promise, I'm off to hear what the distortion sounds like as a minimum.

Is it typical for tremolo effect that when the distortion/gain level is higher, the tremolo sweep effect is drowned out so much that it can only be heard after the distorted chord/sound has faded? I have this fundamental tremolo and it works more clearly only on the clean channel or with a small level of overdrive (tremolo connected in a chain - I tried before and after overdrive)

The fuzz was alright, kind of a Muff-face? The gate is cool. I'd be sold on that verb if it were stereo (I'm trapped in headphone land, so I hafta have a stereo verb, but man it was delicious.) That delay does it's own kind of freakout, and the delay is very hi fi, which is a nice alternative. Then you get all that sweet analog and reverse stuff. Probably not a better $130 mono delay out there. Middle click is trash. Trem is right at home, and with a volume slider? Yup, this is a good quartet. I feel like everybody that's done one of these budget lines has tried to be a little "fancier" than The 3 Series in aesthetic, but there's just something sweet about those little do-it-yourself milk cartons. But these are pretty cool. Goo-goo-ga-good job!

I like the look. The price point is a value proposition for a quality Made in the US pedal from a reputable builder. As much as I live Brian Wampler he missed the boat with his "value line" being made OCONUS at the same price point as the JHS line and these. They sound good and seem fun, which is important. The sliders.... even Zach from Mythos ditched them on the RJ pedal because of issues sourcing quality parts, resulting in reliability concerns. For the living room player, probably fine, but i'd prefer knobs if the sliders are the physical impediment to putting the power port on top.

I agree a little bit. I have adjusted more highs, which can bring a drip that's already there(it has to be present to begin with) and turn it up more to give it the higher clickyness. That said, yea I love drip but I'm not sure I'd only look for that, and if not present, kinda dismiss it.its like having an overdrive and being like "...meh.." that it doesn't sound like a tube screamer. I get both sides, cuz I love drip.but do think it's not,not unfair, but more so kinda closed off, to only want surf reverb and write everything off that doesn't do that specific thing as not all pedals are Gunna do it and not all pedals need to be designed to drip, as I'm sure many hear that only think surf, and write it off since it's not something they're into
