If any pilot ejects = both pilots eject... So Mav should've ejected both.

Only one problem: why did the Gen 5 jet not see Hangman coming?
So this is actually pretty funny and interesting sometimes pilots can lose their situational awareness this actually happened in desert storm an EF-111 Raven was being chased by an Iraqi Mirage F1 and when an F15C found out and locked up the Mirage the Iraqi pilot lost his situational awareness and crashed into a mountain so the point of that was the pilot in the movie was so focused on shooting down Maverick he must have not heard the warning also Hangman was pretty close because the only missiles they had on them were AIM-9s it looked like
He would have got him if he used his gun in the beginning of the dog fight.
Common sense doesn’t make for good movies.
Just enjoy the damm movie..
