Thank you so much for going over this. I used to digitize many years ago and I'm a little rusty and I'm getting back into it. I have old designs that I have to re digitize because they are all on old floppy disc. See I did say it was a long time ago. :)
Amazing tutorial! I was dreading learning a new software, but now I'm excited about the possibilities of this program. I can do this! Thank you so much!
I actually was wondering what that weird line thingy was when I was trying to buy an embroidery design today. I wasn't sure if they had digitized it like that and my embroidery would have one too if i purchased their design. In the end I didn't buy it because of that. Your video was helpful because now I know why it was there. I could not figure out how to look it up online, because I didn't know what to call it. I love your designated term!! I will probably buy embroidery software on the near future and it wss nice to see how Hatch works. Thanks for all the great videos!!
Thanks! Yes, the Summer months are chaotic for me. Couple that with work travel at the tail end of the Summer then catching Covid... uuuuugh :( NOW I'm moving cross country! Once I'm settled, it'll be a ton of content.
It takes a while to really get the hang of it, but once you do, you can start ignoring all of those unwelcomed Instagram and Facebook messages from digitizers LOL
I appreciate that you are doing these tutorials I have same program but I have only played with it making some patches. However I still need to comprehend the pull compensation 🤦🏻♀️ 😅 I subscribe
Thanks so much for this video. You have cleared up my confusion and answered all of my questions except for "Why does the white winged bird sing the sad song".
No, I don't sadly. It's just a quick file that I made to give a basic introduction to Hatch. If I put it up for download, it wouldn't help a lot opening it and trying to follow along as I create it throughout the video. Already having a finished copy of it wouldn't teach you much.
The user interface looks really clunky scary. Reminds me of software written in the late 80's although the stitching/hatching algorithms are producing a much more impressive fast results. Can it leverage vector graphics to introduce all the boundaries and shapes? Most drafting programs can produce open and closed polylines that contain multiple definition points and mathematically defined curves (real time editing by dragging nodes). Assign widths to lines. Clip objects with other objects. And in the end export to a variety of formats like dwg/dxf/vwx/etc.
Yes it does take vector graphics! I'm a software engineer by day (YT isn't my job), so I guess the interface seems quite tame in comparison to what I typically use to program. I have used Hatch, Viking's software, Brother's software, and Embird. Hatch has been the one that seemed the most intuitive to me. Viking's software required spiritual intervention, and old priest and a young priest, and some holy water for me to understand.
@@fiercekittenz LOL I totally agree about the Viking software! Before Hatch, I used Punto for 20 years, which had bezier vector tools like Adobe Illustrator. When they quit updating that a few years ago, I tried Hatch. Previously I had tried Embrilliance but I found the tools too weird. I didn't expect to like Hatch because I had to install Windows on my Mac for that, but I found it much easier to learn than Embrilliance. Other than the bezier tool, Hatch does way more than Punto at a fraction of $$$.
hello im very new to embroidery and also hatch 3 i have a question that might be a common sense question lol if im using a 5x7 hoop how do i know if my artwork will be that size? i tried to but it in the hoop template but it shows a completely different size
I'm a touch biased here, because I've used Hatch for YEARS even before it was called "Hatch." I have access to Chroma, because I also have a Ricoma system (MT1501), but I haven't used it. I'm not sure how they would compare :(
@fiercekittenz thinking about trying the 30 day trial . I watch some videos on chroma on you tube . just need to understand when to use a run stitch or satin stitch Just some type of good examples to understand
Yeah totally! I just go into digitize hole and draw out the area by plotting points just as I would for making an area. Once I’m done plotting the shape I hit enter and it makes the hole.
OMG. I wish I would have discovered you before I almost threw a 2 year old temper tantrum trying to figure out how to use this software. I’m very tempted to get a refund and just pay someone to digitize my stuff for me. I’m so lost!
I've been using Hatch for about a year, and just learned so much from watching this video! Thank you so much.

Thank you so much for taking the mystery out of using Hatch.

Wow, nice to have you back! Your tutorials have been missed.

Was ready to give up and pay someone to do designs. Thank you so much

I feel like there's a whooooole video to do just on pull compensation and fabric type considerations when making designs.
Great video! 🤩
Thank you for making such awesome software!!!
@@fiercekittenz It's our absolute pleasure. 😍So glad you enjoy using it!
Do you have a video expanding images? I was told not to so I am quite interested in that. Thank you ☺️
I'm not sure what you mean by "expanding images" ... can you elaborate?
you are my favorite now fr
Thanks so much for this video. You have cleared up my confusion and answered all of my questions except for "Why does the white winged bird sing the sad song".
Oh that one’s easy! The bird is upset about the patriarchy and horses.
keep the video's coming great job
I appreciate it :)
Great video, thanks for sharing your knowledge!
Awesome! Thanks so much.
Do you by chance sell the download to this image file on Etsy so we can follow along with your tutorial? Or have a link to where you found it?

This was great!
Can you explain what Trueview is 😫is that how my final embroidery design will look like ?
TrueView is a digital estimate of what the stitching might look like. It’s not 100% accurate, but it’s pretty close!
hello im very new to embroidery and also hatch 3 i have a question that might be a common sense question lol if im using a 5x7 hoop how do i know if my artwork will be that size? i tried to but it in the hoop template but it shows a completely different size
Select all (CTRL+A) then hold your mouse over one corner to see the dimensions. It needs to be just within 5x7!
Hey, do you take custom requests? I cannot find a file and I don’t have that software.
No, I do not.
New to digitizing got an ricoma embroidery machine with the chroma software fron ricoma and wondering if hatch is more easier to understand

BTW I do enjoy your tutorials
Please increase the sound volume. Even at max volume both on the video and on my computer, it was still barely audible. But great teaching!
Ah thanks! This is one of the older videos I did before I moved to NC. If you look at a more recent video, is it still too low?
Nice tutto
any lettering basic stitching videos?
I don't have any YET! That's a good topic to add to my growing list of Hatch videos though!
How do you make a hole that is irregularly shaped? Can I send you a Hatch file to see what I mean?
Yeah totally! I just go into digitize hole and draw out the area by plotting points just as I would for making an area. Once I’m done plotting the shape I hit enter and it makes the hole.

OH NOOO!!! I need to do more of these videos. I'm just trying to find the time with everything ELSE I have piled up, plus work, plus family :(
Mac or PC?
GREAT question! It's only available for Windows, but you can run it under Mac if you use a program called Parallels to emulate Windows.
OMG I need help with a logo
Do you want to learn how to make it, or find a digitizer? I don't normally offer digitizing as a service, personally.
