The host is so nice. Informative without being extremely chatty or overbearing.
He's arrogant
Steven seems very proud of all the delicious foods his town has to offer. Thank you Steven for being a great host!
As a Malay, I'm glad I got to know about these Chinese food through Mikey's videos. I've always been curious but I can't eat some of them, so this at least lets me know the cooking process, how Mikey likes their tastes, etc.
You can eat the "tau fu fah" (beancurd jelly). It's just dessert. =D
Clytia I've had them :D they're great
Yeah, I love that too. So silky smooth~~~~~
You actually can experiment w the cooking technique. Use your own halal meats and ingredients
I hv found 1 good Muslim Chinese restaurant in Padang Jawa Shah Alam. Near mee tarik
It’s so uplifting to see the pride the hosts have to share their food with someone who enjoys the food so much and enthusiastic about the experience.
Please, when Mike came to India, he missed most of the other cuisines too but we're not complaining on every video. Let's just be happy with the videos because they are entertaining and great to watch. ❤️
Your food guide is such a nice person. Btw, great video 👍
Rene Rosche agreed
Malaysians are very welcoming.. proud Malaysian 🇲🇾
Backstaber malaysian
So happy to see Mikey with friends who enjoy food as much as he does. God Bless you Mikey :)
I'm from Ipoh and I approve all of these. It's great to have you here!
really enjoy your cohost in these series!! he seems like a very pleasant person who knows all the right places!!! thanks Mike!
Aun kheng Lim is my dad’s cousins shop!🤗 everyone that goes to Ipoh always gets a chicken from his shop hehe so glad you ate there!! ^_^
really don't understand why some are complaining its only malaysian chinese food he's trying.
if you want him to try the other types of food, offer your service as a food guide so he can try the other types of food in malaysia.
we are in 2018 and still having mentality that malaysian chinese food isn't malaysian food, no wonder our beloved country is in such state.
can't we live as one race as in human race cause in the end no matter where we came from or where we go, we are still in the same place called Earth.
I'll be honest, I enjoy the video. Always been intrigued with Malaysian Chinese cuisine. But you know, this and that. Haha. Still, very proud with the vid content. Prosperity to all
Chinese cuisines only taste the oyster sauce, sesame oil,n salty..nothing else...
@@creepycreature6500 i will not surprise to your statement if you dont understand at all... especially from malaysia.
creepy creature bodoh
@@creepycreature6500 agree
Thanks Steven and Rick because you brought Mikey to real gem spots! Thank you!
These guys are great additions to your show. Do more content with them.
The Ipoh guys showing you around are so nice and friendly.
I miss Malaysia, such a wonderful country
Steven and Rick are awesome!!! Very friendly and positive attitude.
Mikey’s videos just make me so happy after a long shift at work, kick back and see him learn and enjoy what he likes to do. Thanks for the vids Mikey keep them coming!
Hi, I feel Mike your cinematography skills have improved. I could see the people waiting, the shops, the cook, the food; it makes me feel I really travelled to Malaysia. When I see what's going on behind you, it makes the video more interesting. Thanks for following my advice. Keep up the good work !
Awesome!! Kg Simee roast pork is hidden gem where not much people know.. Everytime i back Ipoh i won’t miss it..
The salted chicken looks delish. I need that in my life.
Very impressed with the people of Malaysia! Awesomely friendly and a lot of the people spoke English VERY well! Great series Mike! Duh! Yes the food had me drooling 🤤!
Stephen is quite knowlegeable and Rick is so sweet..another great one Mikey.👍👍
Karmini Parsan I cannot stand Rick
I think rick is a cutie
xxxFF7xxxGIRLxxx -_-
Hi Mikey
Thank you for featuring my home town and sharing it with the world! I haven't been home in 10 years and it is good to see the food hasn't change. It certainly made my day!
Keep up the good work 😁
These are great. Thank you for showing the Chinese community in Malaysia.
Mikey, I've been in hospital for the last few months and watched ALL your videos! You've inspired me to take a trip to Osaka when I recover. Keep the content coming!👍🏼
I like Steven very much, he was really enjoying everything, not only the food but the company, nice video.
I wish and pray everyday that the Travel Channel or any network gives you your own show. You are so entertaining and so descriptive about the food. Keep doing what you're doing!
This time, I'm armed with pasta as I settle in to watch another amazing Mikey video.
Robin Holly I forgot my food, I'm a couple minutes in and drooling. I should have at least made some spicy ramen 😂 I should know better.
I'm having lunch at ihop while I'm watching this
we had the exact same idea my friend.
Oh yeah, don't even think about watching Mikey's videos, without having a plate of food in front of you, to eat while you watch him eat!
Diva AH made the mistake of watching while on a liquid diet. Nearly died about 3 videos ago. Talk about misery. 😂
OMG,I am an Ipoh gal, left for Oz a long time ago,the food cravings are real!! Eat up you lucky people, yum ,yum....
*Fantastic food tour guys, thanks!*
Only person I watch ads for tbh
(Also I like Steven, that man knows his food well)
damn those Malaysian have awsome food.... super impressed
Then come to Malaysia. Eat all you want man. Haha. We always welcome food lover around the globe. Live a good life man! Haha
Damn right we do
You can never go on a diet in Malaysia, the food is too tempting haha.
Should invite him to NY and show him around. He did a great job bringing you places and his commentary was perfect. He wasn't overbearing or too quiet....just perfect. He reminds me of one of my uncles.
Mike Chen is the best. My kids tend to click before I do! Love all the way from Sunny St. Maarten, DWI!
I wish and pray everyday that the Travel Channel or any network gives you your own show. You are so entertaining and so descriptive about the food.
Wow!!! That roast pig looked absolutely delectable!!! Loving this series of Malaysian videos Mike. Really great! 😀 👍
Fantastic another great vlog in the series
Whenever Mikey shakes his head as a reaction to good food, I always worry that somebody is going to think that he doesn't like the food.
6:50.. your guide is pointing to the lady with leopard print for cutting queue. Lol!
That's what I thought seeing Rick mouthing 'cut queue ' lol
Folks this chap delivers the best presentation of street food he is refreshing and an absolute delight, others should watch and learn as to how it should be done, Mikey thank you for a wonderful show.
Cheers Marius (Australia)
The guy in orange shirt is a really nice tour guy.
Oh my, im Malaysian and this video made my mouth water so so much!! I hope you cover Malay and Indian food too while you're in Malaysia! Very very good video !
Thank for visut my hometown mikey, hope our local food can let u hav a good memories. Peace
Absolutely love your channel Mikey, everything looks so delicious it would be an experience to travel with you and try awesome food like that.
FitAngie you are every where 😅😅 even on sonny's channel
I love storms too! I also love how you can eat your way through a country and still be hungry for more! Great job describing the food for us. And your willingness to try the “exotic” foods. ; )
Its amazing to see you coming to my home town all the way from the US. Hope you enjoyed your stay.
That salt cooked chicken looked really juicy though! I thought it was different with them wrapping it in paper and then putting the salt on top of it, maybe the wrap helps the chicken stay juicy. The noodles looked on point to. The roast pork looks like the roast pork we have in the states, with the darker part on the bottom of the pig. Like, the darker layer, it's like a rib eye steak, the rib eye cap. Anyways, pretty cool video. You better be sharing the food with Jasmina!!! 😆🤣😊
My goal in life is to be living the life like Mikey.
live like larry
Live like dan bilzerian
It can appear that all he does is eat food however that is a small part in terms of hours spent on each video. He has to plan where to go, film making sure he gets every shot needed and and then editing the video. There is a lot of work that goes into making each video. I think that for most people the consuming of food is the best part.
RSK KingMaanJi yes I've seen his video explaining how it all works. You are right he does have a team that help him at times however a lot of the time he is on his own especially on big trips where he can't afford to bring the team. Either way he puts in long hours.
If we all could have the compassion again for our souls and heal.
That guy in the background looked pissed like you spoiled his dinner lol
From the sprouts chicken part of the video? Yea. We Malaysians have terrible tolerance for loud, enthusiastic people in dinner tables. We're not very welcoming to tourists, apparently.
Like, the guy's filming a video, stop hating and just eat your food. They look livid, but what'd you expect when there's a CAMERA and an internet personality?
@@aejylhis4s So surprised about this. I thought you guys would be like Chinese where the louder the better!
@@theuglykwan lmao too true. With the chinese if you're too quiet they think you're upset or something haha.
He's just jealous Mikey's English is ace lmao
That's not a pissed face, he was curious to see who this person is who needs explaining, has camera and everything. He wants to be famous. Haha.
Part of the deliciousness of the chicken is probably because their breeds of bird aren't as overbred and engineered for "meat yield" as American birds are. The birds in the US are bred for HUGE breast meat production, and to mature really fast compared to other birds. That's so they can raise a crop of meat birds 2x faster than a less overbred breed. But the less overbred breeds, heirloom breeds, etc., may not have the immense amounts of white meat, but what meat there IS is about 5X more flavorful and satisfying.
Like American vegetables, American food animals have been so overbred that they have no flavor anymore. The US animals need massive help from seasonings and spices and sauces to be palatable, but meat elsewhere, from more heirloom breeds, are flavorful in themselves, and don't need the complex seasonings and spices that American food does.
Heck, we won't even eat a corn chip that isn't drenched in complex, salty spice mixes anymore.
Gwen Patton Facts, I live in the US and if the food doesn’t have insane amounts of seasoning it is so bland and flavorless.
Western is exactly as you described IMO
So true american cuisine are so full of preservatives n seasoning..
Pretty sure the places featured here used corn-fed chicken or free-range chicken because they look smaller and the flesh is yellowish in colour.
Gwen Patton 😮wow 👏🏻👏🏻
Food looks amazing, and those desserts! Wow!
You know it's good when Mikey closes his eyes, another great video cheers
another great vid man cheers dumpling boy
i really liked this. i can tell you guys gelled over food... it was cool.
Awesome! Try other Malaysian delicacies from other ethnicity on your next visit! Malaysia indeed is a food haven.
IPOH is a food paradise with its own unique taste and flavour.

I just love to see you Mike. You do make me hungry and I love your videos. 💞💞💞
Whenever I travel with my parents to an exotic country and we go out to eat they just get stuff that they are familiar with so we don’t get to eat all this amazing stuff and we don’t get to explore the city because by the second day they would’ve remembered the McDonald’s and kfc place
I loved your guide in this episode, he was great!
I love how that guy says yes , yeah yes yeah 30 times in 1 minute :D
We need more airline reviews, Mike, especially business class!
Your friends there were so nice.
I adore Chinese Malaysians, they are all so cool!
Ohmy that roast pork is huge! Yums
My fast version of salted chicken prepare at home. Just soak whole chicken in salted water about 30 to 45 minutes. Slice few area of chicken body. Put few slices quality dong kwai in. Wrap whole chicken in aluminium foil. Put in whole chicken already hot oven for 45 mins or more needed for small chicken. Open foil & test by poking chicken inside whether fully cooked. Cut, serve & eat immediately by its own or with rice & stir fried mix vegetables..
Love love these videos!!
the way u change the straw ............just loved it..........xoxo from Bangladesh
Was egarly waiting for your video
..😋😋😋😋
I LOVE all the food you eat. Maybe someday you can start video on getting recipes on all the food you try.
Great vlog Mikey. Keepem coming, all the best.
Makes me miss my grandma’s salt baked chicken. Malaysia and Singapore has a lot of common recipes and food.
Arrived in Ipoh last night and heading to Penang today, but had to try at least one place, so I went for the salted chicken and darn, it was good and salty. Didn’t think I could eat a whole chicken by myself, but mission accomplished!
OMG that roast pork with that cracklin skin I just want to jump through my screen.
Rain Juice just lick it, we won’t tell lol
Lol your profile picture makes your comment perfect for what you are feeling
ikr :(

Love watching Mikey eating and talking and then in the background the people watching him and realizing they are in the filming also. Some of the looks on their faces, are to funny.
Wow!!

Awesome Video as always..
Thanks for the great video! Glad you can take a break from eating by having noodles as a palate cleanser.
