As a Malay, I'm glad I got to know about these Chinese food through Mikey's videos. I've always been curious but I can't eat some of them, so this at least lets me know the cooking process, how Mikey likes their tastes, etc.
really don't understand why some are complaining its only malaysian chinese food he's trying. if you want him to try the other types of food, offer your service as a food guide so he can try the other types of food in malaysia. we are in 2018 and still having mentality that malaysian chinese food isn't malaysian food, no wonder our beloved country is in such state. can't we live as one race as in human race cause in the end no matter where we came from or where we go, we are still in the same place called Earth.
I'll be honest, I enjoy the video. Always been intrigued with Malaysian Chinese cuisine. But you know, this and that. Haha. Still, very proud with the vid content. Prosperity to all
Please, when Mike came to India, he missed most of the other cuisines too but we're not complaining on every video. Let's just be happy with the videos because they are entertaining and great to watch. ❤️
Mikey’s videos just make me so happy after a long shift at work, kick back and see him learn and enjoy what he likes to do. Thanks for the vids Mikey keep them coming!
Hi, I feel Mike your cinematography skills have improved. I could see the people waiting, the shops, the cook, the food; it makes me feel I really travelled to Malaysia. When I see what's going on behind you, it makes the video more interesting. Thanks for following my advice. Keep up the good work !
Hi Mikey Thank you for featuring my home town and sharing it with the world! I haven't been home in 10 years and it is good to see the food hasn't change. It certainly made my day! Keep up the good work 😁
Very impressed with the people of Malaysia! Awesomely friendly and a lot of the people spoke English VERY well! Great series Mike! Duh! Yes the food had me drooling 🤤!
Part of the deliciousness of the chicken is probably because their breeds of bird aren't as overbred and engineered for "meat yield" as American birds are. The birds in the US are bred for HUGE breast meat production, and to mature really fast compared to other birds. That's so they can raise a crop of meat birds 2x faster than a less overbred breed. But the less overbred breeds, heirloom breeds, etc., may not have the immense amounts of white meat, but what meat there IS is about 5X more flavorful and satisfying. Like American vegetables, American food animals have been so overbred that they have no flavor anymore. The US animals need massive help from seasonings and spices and sauces to be palatable, but meat elsewhere, from more heirloom breeds, are flavorful in themselves, and don't need the complex seasonings and spices that American food does. Heck, we won't even eat a corn chip that isn't drenched in complex, salty spice mixes anymore.
Mikey, I've been in hospital for the last few months and watched ALL your videos! You've inspired me to take a trip to Osaka when I recover. Keep the content coming!👍🏼
Should invite him to NY and show him around. He did a great job bringing you places and his commentary was perfect. He wasn't overbearing or too quiet....just perfect. He reminds me of one of my uncles.
I wish and pray everyday that the Travel Channel or any network gives you your own show. You are so entertaining and so descriptive about the food. Keep doing what you're doing!
That salt cooked chicken looked really juicy though! I thought it was different with them wrapping it in paper and then putting the salt on top of it, maybe the wrap helps the chicken stay juicy. The noodles looked on point to. The roast pork looks like the roast pork we have in the states, with the darker part on the bottom of the pig. Like, the darker layer, it's like a rib eye steak, the rib eye cap. Anyways, pretty cool video. You better be sharing the food with Jasmina!!! 😆🤣😊
It can appear that all he does is eat food however that is a small part in terms of hours spent on each video. He has to plan where to go, film making sure he gets every shot needed and and then editing the video. There is a lot of work that goes into making each video. I think that for most people the consuming of food is the best part.
RSK KingMaanJi yes I've seen his video explaining how it all works. You are right he does have a team that help him at times however a lot of the time he is on his own especially on big trips where he can't afford to bring the team. Either way he puts in long hours.
Oh my, im Malaysian and this video made my mouth water so so much!! I hope you cover Malay and Indian food too while you're in Malaysia! Very very good video !
Folks this chap delivers the best presentation of street food he is refreshing and an absolute delight, others should watch and learn as to how it should be done, Mikey thank you for a wonderful show. Cheers Marius (Australia)
I love storms too! I also love how you can eat your way through a country and still be hungry for more! Great job describing the food for us. And your willingness to try the “exotic” foods. ; )
From the sprouts chicken part of the video? Yea. We Malaysians have terrible tolerance for loud, enthusiastic people in dinner tables. We're not very welcoming to tourists, apparently. Like, the guy's filming a video, stop hating and just eat your food. They look livid, but what'd you expect when there's a CAMERA and an internet personality?
My fast version of salted chicken prepare at home. Just soak whole chicken in salted water about 30 to 45 minutes. Slice few area of chicken body. Put few slices quality dong kwai in. Wrap whole chicken in aluminium foil. Put in whole chicken already hot oven for 45 mins or more needed for small chicken. Open foil & test by poking chicken inside whether fully cooked. Cut, serve & eat immediately by its own or with rice & stir fried mix vegetables..
4minutes just posted and already 100likes. Powerful foodie darling. Thank you to your guides for taking care of our lad. Especially Steven. Lovely man! ❤❤❤
Whenever I travel with my parents to an exotic country and we go out to eat they just get stuff that they are familiar with so we don’t get to eat all this amazing stuff and we don’t get to explore the city because by the second day they would’ve remembered the McDonald’s and kfc place
My family is Chinese and what they do is that they also wrap the chicken with salt. But we put salt first than cover it up and like it stay like that in a kinda boiling way you can say. But we don't add anything else beside that.
Love watching Mikey eating and talking and then in the background the people watching him and realizing they are in the filming also. Some of the looks on their faces, are to funny.
In Pakistan, there are small wooden carts on wheels that one man can mush, and they roast chickpeas, corn shelled or cob and peanuts in coarse salt, it is very cheap, very common and really tasty just like chicken is covered in paper and roasted in salt in Ipoh.
I look forward to whenever my family buys the entire pig. It's such a damn treat and the crispy skin is to die for! ps. soy milk as a refresher? delish
Arrived in Ipoh last night and heading to Penang today, but had to try at least one place, so I went for the salted chicken and darn, it was good and salty. Didn’t think I could eat a whole chicken by myself, but mission accomplished!
The host is so nice. Informative without being extremely chatty or overbearing.
He's arrogant
Steven seems very proud of all the delicious foods his town has to offer. Thank you Steven for being a great host!

You can eat the "tau fu fah" (beancurd jelly). It's just dessert. =D
Clytia I've had them :D they're great
Yeah, I love that too. So silky smooth~~~~~
You actually can experiment w the cooking technique. Use your own halal meats and ingredients
I hv found 1 good Muslim Chinese restaurant in Padang Jawa Shah Alam. Near mee tarik

Gwen Patton Facts, I live in the US and if the food doesn’t have insane amounts of seasoning it is so bland and flavorless.
Western is exactly as you described IMO
So true american cuisine are so full of preservatives n seasoning..
Pretty sure the places featured here used corn-fed chicken or free-range chicken because they look smaller and the flesh is yellowish in colour.
Gwen Patton 😮wow 👏🏻👏🏻

Wow!!! That roast pig looked absolutely delectable!!! Loving this series of Malaysian videos Mike. Really great! 😀 👍
Whenever Mikey shakes his head as a reaction to good food, I always worry that somebody is going to think that he doesn't like the food.
*Fantastic food tour guys, thanks!*
The guy in orange shirt is a really nice tour guy.
