Nice natural interview. Great to see Steve Vai's not a snob and will answer questions that might help a less experienced player. We can learn from Steve's humility and attitude as well as his music.
mattchurchill I totally agree with what you are saying. Seeing him live and seeing him in interviews, he is always humble, and grounded. I greatly respect him as a stand-up and respectful kind of guy.
I was fortunate enough to meet him outside backstage at the Canyon club. He was absolutely genuine & very friendly. i was extremely nervous. & wanted to ask him about different topics, he kindly answered all my questions, even though His Sister was in town and waiting for him inside.
I have watched every Vai rig rundown and I still don't know what kind of speakers he uses! He always says they are '30 watt Celestions' but Celestion makes a lot of speakers! The ones in this video look like Vintage 30's - but V30 are not 30 watts. Can someone tell me exactly what model Celestion they are?
'Are those signature cables?' Come on... Like asking him what type of shoes he wears. Like anyone cares. Couldn't he come up with something relevant to ask?
@@pleximanic Maybe that's what they have if you buy them at a shop, but that does not mean he is using them in his own cabs. You can buy a gem, but it's not like his, with the dual trem stoppers, the sustaniac and the dummy single coil in the neck adjacent. The actual gear he uses it not avaiable at any shop. Everything is customized in some way.

Anyone else coming back to this after his collab on Ego Death?
Steve is so humble to do this interview himself
Kudos to Vai for not getting annoyed with the person interviewing. Of all the questions you could ask... Ugg.
You know, I didn't really mind his questions. I probably would have asked about the same things, haha.
Funny how the interviewer has a mic but is not as loud as Steve, who has no mic! :-)
The mic is clipped on to Steves shirt.
goooooorrrrrpsss

I actually don't know either.
Steve Vai
Steve doesn't even know what speakers he uses!
The rig looks like mine !!!!!!!
What's the song in the intro?
Its Velorum from The Story of Light
Alguien me puede traducir algo de lo que dice? Ja
ist das hanno?
where i can find this kind of pedal board ?
My pedalboard is similar. I have a whammy and a wah too, also a delay. Steve has a box for the fractal effects though.
gg for not fixing the phase. :|
what a poor interviewer, took him months to think up his questions! =-=
this guys questions are simply annoying.
He say Jemini, Jemini, but is out of production... WTF
The Jemini was not produced for very long. Seemed to disappear pretty fast. I wonder what happened.

Oh jeeee! Ask something relevant already! Amateur!
I think he made a mistake 'cause the legacy cabs do have v30's in 'em =)
Yeah those are 60 watts not 30 watts!
