Such a simple yet endlessly creative approach!! Great content Fabian!!
Hi, thanks for the nice comment. So glad you enjoyed the video! 😊
Great lesson! I will say that it never hurts to learn covers too, especially crowd pleasers that draw people in if you are playing live. If they don’t know your own voice you really must engage them another way, or maybe make those covers your own if you have them good enough.
For writing though, this is a great lesson indeed. Dynamics are so important, and you did a great job of demonstrating both in concept and example. I’m adding to my own practice regimen to be much more mindful of it.
Hi, thanks for the comment! Glad you liked the video! Oh yeah absolutely, covers are always good and definitely putting your own spin on them is a good way to go. Glad you enjoyed the video! 😊👍
Dadgad, the best tuning to ever exist. I absolutely love it. Hearing someone like Mike Dawes or Bensusan play in it is just magical
Oh yeah absolutely!! I saw Mike Dawes play at Guitar Summit last weekend, amazing!!
Very insightful
Thank you Fabien , really great lesson and I am off to try and put it into practice.
Hi, thanks so much, I appreciate that! I hope you enjoy experimenting, let me know how it goes 😊👍
I can relate to what you're saying. Good advice, as it is cool to experiment to broaden what we know, and can learn from others. Thanks for sharing
Hi, thanks for the comment. Yeah absolutely! Glad you enjoyed the video 😊👍
Great video, and it's one of the reasons your playing always sounds so fresh- without standard patterns and with wonderful dynamics. You transmit emotion so well...
Hey Geej, thanks so much!! Glad you liked the video. Yeah absolutely, it can be hard to get your fingers playing something other than what they’re always used to, and fingers can be very stubborn!! This is also a little bit of what the next live stream is going to be about 😊👍
@@FabianHollandGuitar Yes, I thought this might be a bit of a teaser for the live stream. You make it look so easy, but I know a lot of work must have gone in to make it seem so effortless. 😀
Awesome and yes for sure will definitely try and get this technique going👍👍 Great video and thanks!!!
Wow, you sound incredible. I wish I could play like that.
Hi, thanks so much!! Glad you enjoyed the video. 😊
Awesome video and thanks!!! Let’s see if I can do something with this😁😁👍👍👍
Hi, thanks! Glad you like the video! Hope it helps 😊
Outstanding lesson. I am going to work this. It is something that's been in my head. Questioning my sounds. A little thing of each pattern would of made it awesome
Hi, thanks! Glad you liked the video. Try it out, it may take some practice getting your fingers to play something different but it’s definitely worth it.
Underrrrrrrrrated
I should try dadgad sometime....
I would say my strongest suite is finger style, so I did t think I would get much from this lesson, but your fingers are more focused and directed than mine, I love the way you let the g string ring out , I’m going to work on it , and it occurs to me that , the thumb and finger method would be good to work on keeping time in finger style, which I’ve been meaning to ask you about on the live feed… I find it a lot of fun to use the thumb and finger method to cover songs, but I don’t feel like I’m directing my fingers, like on auto pilot, but the problem is I hit a bump every once in a while , I can less it off, because it just falls in to the mud and still sounds ok , but I know it’s a bad note. Being more directed and intentional, that’s what I need to work on.
Hey Roy, yeah trying being more intentional really helps, sometimes the right hand just does its own thing which is fine if you want it to do that but having more control and being more intentional is definitely a good thing 😊👍
Among other things!
Loved the video, what kind of guitar are you playing? Such a lovely warm, woody sound.
Thanks! It’s a Lowden O10 from 1994 with Mahogany back and sides and Cedar top.
"Another Monday" has such unique finger picking, and (it seems) unique notes.. was that using an alternate tuning?
Hi, thanks for the question! Yeah that is in DADGAD 😊👍
@@FabianHollandGuitar Thanks! That is an epic song my friend. 9although technically speaking ur not my freinds cuz I've never met U) but I'm glad you are doing what you do because U have real songwriting (+song performing) talent.
Make your videos in standard tuning, or people will click away
Hi, thanks for the tip! Yeah you’re right, I should do more standard tuning stuff! Or at least a few examples in standard. Especially for videos that don’t need to be in an alternate tuning 👍
I kind of enjoyed the DADGAD. I knew it wasn't in standard tuning and certainly didn't want to leave!
