It's cool. If you come back to FL, I have some small ponds near Tampa that have trophies. One of them on that little crappie rod would be insane. I personally wouldn't do it lol
Yes! Get a BFS combo and don't look back. I know creek fishing favors spinning gear, but a bfs setup is a blast! I've had several 20+ fish days on little tiny Texas rigs
Great video definitely need more micro fishing content I definitely like micro fishing when bass are being finicky or cold weather panfish seem to bite almost year round here in Texas.
Larry discovering the fun of ultralight fishing is awesome! Its a nice change taking the ultralight out and leaving the bass gear at home. I use a st croix 5' 6" ultralight medium action with a Piscifun Carbon X Spinning 1000 series with 4lb fluoro
Ultralight/micro setups are the move. Every fish feels bigger and stronger. Great for small creeks and ponds. Love using this setup on my kayak! Keep up the awesome content brother 🤟🏼
Great video! If you're wanting to learn a bit more about panfish(ing) I highly recommend KN Fishing Smarts. The guy who runs the channel is a biologist and he has guides on both identification and technique that are both good for someone just coming to fishing and have a lot of depth and info for someone like you who knows fishing, but just maybe hasn't made a point of learning about these specific fish. Most of my fishing is for panfish in creeks in the midwest, but his videos and website taught me a ton! He's got a specific and in depth guide on what size hooks to use for each species and a seperate guide on what lures work best for catching em and they come in both video and text form for whatever you're more comfortable with. So glad I found your channel, been fun to watch your content. Keep up the great work!
I’m hooked on creek fishing now thanks to you and creek fishing adventures. I too live in Alabama and love the tiny creek in front of my house at the walking trail…
The YT channel Fish Anything has a ton of review vids on ultralight rods and reels for all kinds of budgets. I think he has collabed with Creek Fishing Adventures, too.
Yooo love micro fishing. Leland Lures makes a great jig head for getting into small spaces. Combined with the Berkeley Gulp Alive Minnows 1” and Worms it’s almost unfair.
Awesome video, Larry! The creeks are finally filling up around me, and I've been itching to catch up on my ultralight/creek fishing 💪🎣 In the future, you won't find anything longer than 5'6" there but Walmart usually keeps a solid 5'6 Lews UL ($35-37), and there's also a 5' shakespeare UL ($19) that have both been great to me 🤙 The Lews is a one-piece, but it has a bit more backbone than the Shakespeare!
I started micro fishing last year here in PA on the off seasons and the multi species that happens during micro fishing is the most exciting keep it up larry
When using a grub with a wiggly tail like that try to tie your jig using a "Loop Knot" it will swim so much better and more natural. Great video as usual!! Feel very Happy for you!! simply awesome video!!
Loved this! Pretty much how I fish here in the UK. Small lures and weight and fish for bites. Quite often you get a surprise fish that you just wouldn't expect and that's half the fun. Box of chocolates fishing at its best 👌 👍
Try out the zman micro series (shad fry, micro trd helgramite) uses their mushroom jig head. Also been having alot of luck with the googan squad micro clutch
Hey Larry! Also if you want the sunfish species besides bass gill and crappie hit the creeks! so much more fun! skinny shallow waters and hits every cast! loved the vid! i need to micro fish my local ponds lol
I also just started micro/ultralight fishing I’d recommend going braid to leader so your floro or mono won’t give you headaches later with memory problems
I actually bought a Zebco Crappie Fighter spinner combo…about $25. I’ve had it a few years and have actually traded out the reel. But for a 2 piece rod ; it’s amazing. I’ve caught 3+ lb bass out of the creeks here ( S Illinois) and it has held up amazingly. Like that you are doing the ultralight thing 👍🏽. You will genuinely start to like it more than all other forms of fishing 🎣… John is the reason that I got into micro fishing
Mule fishing Co. Makes some of the best baits for panfish. I recommend the Donkey tail jr and 1/64 oz Jughead. Suspended under a bobber or vertical jigging works
Great video man, I am used to using ultralight gear and possibly the best ultralight lure is the Trout Magnet, I have caught everything on them!!! I have also landed trout up to 7 lbs on my ultralight gear!
@@LarryMeltonJr definitely worth a video plus there is a gap in the woods around one of the ponds it takes u straight down to the river so after u get done fishing the two ponds u can put your kayak in.
I'm having a blast micro and creek fishing myself right now. I'm in the midst of filming a series trying to catch each of the red eye bass species here in Alabama, it's become a bit of an obsession 😂
Just started doing this for myself a bit caught a bunch of little panfish and bass around my local pond with a tiny little pre rigged purple worm which actually broke eventually and then I took the rig apart and used one of the hooks on it to make a micro wacky rig and that continued to catch tons of little bass
I use 4lb crappie max high viz green and catch several different species from bluegill, crappie, bass, catfish and walleye. It's crazy strong line! Also when using light baits on 4lb line you'll get further casts.
So after you have bought and collected all your regular bass equipment and baits, you move onto BFS-which is just miniature versions of everything you just bought and collected😂
Shakespeare ultra lite rod from Walmart. Lews lazer spin spinning reel 200 series with 4 or 6lb Pline fluorocarbon leader on 10lb Suffix performance braid. All under $100 for the set up. Jigs 1/64-3/16oz and any baits from 1” to 3”.
What do y’all think about this video? More micro fishing?
Yes fs
It's cool. If you come back to FL, I have some small ponds near Tampa that have trophies. One of them on that little crappie rod would be insane. I personally wouldn't do it lol
Yeah
You need a net Larry for the e-bike so you can just scoop them up 😂🔥🔥💪🏽👍🏽
Yes! Get a BFS combo and don't look back. I know creek fishing favors spinning gear, but a bfs setup is a blast! I've had several 20+ fish days on little tiny Texas rigs
Love me some micro fishing! ❤hell yeah dude!
I love rooster tails I keep one with me every time I got fishing. I have caught every from creek clubs to 5 lb bass.
Man that was great. I couldn’t turn away from all the action
Thanks bro! Same to your post today! It was good to see the bike!
I wish more people did micro fishing videos
Same
Try using a trout magnet. It's a great starter lures for blue gills 👍🏿

What a banger, great videos every week consistently, if your not subscribed to my man Larry your doing something wrong 🔥
I love that usual dinks feel like tanks on ultralight gear! Get some of the tiny chatterbait from Walmart with a 3" curly tail grub...
Ultralight fishing is really fun. I often would rather wade down a creek than get on my boat and go down the river. It brings out the kid in you.
Nice job Larry! Enjoyed the video and appreciate you sharing your journey buddy. #LarryMelton,Jr. rocks!
Great video, fish on!
Let's go. Awesome video bro

I really like your videos😂
I don’t know how you manage to keep uploading absolute 🔥🔥🔥 but you do, keep up the great work man! Always makes my day better!
The biggest fish I have caught have been on light/ ultralight tackle...good video.
My step dad used to say...."It's not the size of the worm that matters, it's the angle of the dangle that makes a difference".
Try using a zman mini flash back it’s Chatterbait made for micro fishing
Yo zuri makes awesome jerkbaits for this type of fishing. Explore the UL fishing world. It's exciting.
When using a grub with a wiggly tail like that try to tie your jig using a "Loop Knot" it will swim so much better and more natural. Great video as usual!! Feel very Happy for you!! simply awesome video!!
Man at walmart here idk if it is where your located they have a lews two peice for like 30 bucks it’s awesome for ultra lighting

Great video! Just remember that you don’t have treble hooks to keep them pegged. I’d love to catch some bass on my ultralight setup 😊
You should try Chace Lake two. Its a old golf course that was flooded and now its two huge ponds
Any Fish in it? Drive by there everyday.
I’ll have to check it out!
Hit it Late Thursday, landed a 1 lB Bass on a rooster tail. Those fish are hungry. Way to many turtles but the Cahaba access has potential.
@@AnAngryAngler They got some bigger than that in there especially in the back pond
@@LarryMeltonJr definitely worth a video plus there is a gap in the woods around one of the ponds it takes u straight down to the river so after u get done fishing the two ponds u can put your kayak in.
I'm not a Sixgill guy but if you want a super dope ultralight check out their Aether. 7 foot one piece sensitive enough to feel a fish fart!
I'm having a blast micro and creek fishing myself right now. I'm in the midst of filming a series trying to catch each of the red eye bass species here in Alabama, it's become a bit of an obsession 😂

So the jigheads are this years choice of bait

Yessir!
I get tired of watching people only catching and releasing Bass. I’m glad your trying to switch it up.
Let's see some tiny creeks
I use 4lb crappie max high viz green and catch several different species from bluegill, crappie, bass, catfish and walleye. It's crazy strong line! Also when using light baits on 4lb line you'll get further casts.
The best weather app is my radar
Use spider wire fishing line way better on ultralight
That bass eyeball 👁️ was infected
I figured something had to be up w/ it!
@@LarryMeltonJr bacteria!!
16:16 there’s a big carp or koi you can see his swimming under his hand
There was a whole bunch of them in the first pond

you can tell its a bluegill because the way it is. jk his top fin is dark meaning he's a bluegill a sunfish wont have a darkspot like that.
