Ditto here. Just stumbled onto them some months back, and find all their work to be absolutely top shelf. Met Caleb at GMBR, to tell him how much I liked his work on the Dolly Parton tribute. He turned it around, thanking me. If you get the chance, go check them out. The real deal.
Norman Blake wrote this wonderful song. Caleb and Reeb have taken Norman's song to a whole new level. Just a fantastic talent these two musicians have together.

I really like this cover of Billy Gray a lot. Reeb's voice puts me in mind of Iris Dement - there is a certain purity and rawness to her voice that I really enjoy. BTW, if you dig around RUclips there is also a cover by Korby Lenker that you'll surely like.
I listen to everyone else sing this song and Caleb and Reeb are the best by far!!! HANDS DOWN!!!!!!

These two are really enjoyable. Reeb's rhythm guitar playing is so basic, but so good. If I could pick someone I could emulate in guitar, it would be Reeb. She plays rhythm exactly as I wished I could.

You have become some of my favourite musicians to keep me company, along with the late Kate Wolf, Luke Kelly and the delightful Kate Rusby. Thank you so much for sharing your amazing talent. Joe Dunne , thank you for your kind words . Still here listening to the music in the middle of the night and it helps enormously. Today my young grandson asked who that band was I liked to listen to. Well he went off and found the Foghorn String Band on RUclips and I got text " great , love it Grandma!". Looks like the band now has a 7 year old fan.

@Matt Hurley. You might also enjoy a band called Planxty who were around at the same time as the Dubliners. Their vocalists, Christy Moore and Andy Irvine went on to successful solo careers. Andy just gets better with age ,but sadly their pipe player Liam o'Flynn died not so long ago. I'm listening to all the music that meant so much to me throughout my life and it's a huge comfort and brings back so many memories as I feel my strength ebbing and my own ability to sing in tune taken away by this damned disease. The "little tune you wrote" is lovely and moving.
So very good. The harmony is beautiful. I like how I could hear both guitars and voices equally. I liked the tune there at the end, as well. Would love to sit down and play music and sing with these two but would settle for hearing them live in concert again. :)

Norman Blake is a genius, but this pair are pretty good too. One of my favourite songs from him. Would love to hear Caleb and Reeb sing Darcy Farrow, Ian and Sylvia made a good harmony version.

March 2024, I was introduced to this song at the annual Celtic music festival in Evanston Wyoming, which my wife used to run, by a man who stood up and introduced it what is known in Celtic music as a session , with him singing it acapella, explaining that, unlike many songs sung by Irish musical groups, songs that originated in the East and moved to the west, that one originated in the West and moved to east as it was written by a westerner, and sang by Planxty under the name of " true love knows no season." I love this version and I love their version too!

I agree with the comment that you can’t help repeatedly playing this version of the song. I prefer Caleb on guitar with Reeb to his mandolin despite how good he is on that. The guitar and vocal harmony on this is wonderful.

wow that old martin sure does sound good. is it a 0018, does anyone know what the top wood is, i think the sides are mahogany, i keep looking for a pickup but dont see one, what a great song and yes the whole band is great together.
the top wood is mahogany. There a lot of artists that use those old all mahogany guitars. I have a Triple O 15 SM recently built. Has similar sound. Try one if you can it'll surprise you.
I think it is a pre war 018 by the size of it! Those small guitars will fool you by the sound that comes out of them. I have an old 1943 0017 that literally plays itself!😋
Caleb plays a 1939 Martin 00-17 and Reeb plays a 1944 Martin 000-18. Yes, both are Mahogany back and sides. the 00-17 is a mahogany top and the 000-18 is a red spruce top.
I just love caleb and reeb playing, and I love the foghorn string band, although unfortunately I am not as thrilled with celebs band with the steel guitar, it has lost the magic.
