They won the Bundesliga for two consecutive seasons before, in 95 and 96.
I'm really blessed to have witnessed all of Dortmund's great successes, except for the DFB-Pokal in 89, when we started to become a force in German/European football again.
Sadly we lost the UEFA-Cup against Juve in 93. But revenge is sweat! With Andy Möller, Stefan Reuter, Jürgen Kohler and Paulo Sousa we even had FOUR ex-Juve players on the squad. The latter made the perfect transfer. Having won the UCL with Juve the season before!
As many know Juve also played, but lost the next two UCL finals too. Plus losing another three times in 03, 15 and 17.
      I'm drifting off...
But I'm hoping sooo much that we'll reach the final at Wembley and get granted another chance, after 2013!
I really have problems to watch the second leg, because of my weak heart. By now I should be used to lose at the last step. But if you're bleeding for a club, the pain will always be the same.

While Bayern played a EC/UCL final in every decade since the 70's (they've been always "there"), Real didn't win or reached a single final between 1966-98. While dominating before and winning five consecutive titles between 1956-60.
Barca only managed to win their first title in 1992!
Ajax had their heydays in the 70's and 90's.
AC Milan wasn't as consistent as Bayern either. Disappearing from the European top flight in the 70's and 2010's.
Next is Liverpool, which came up as a European top club in the 80's, disappeared in the 90's (after the bann of English clubs in Europe after the Heysel tragedy).
I think those were all club with the Champions League honor badge on their sleeve.
tl:dr: While Real is definitely the most successful European top club, Bayern has been the most consistent over the last five decades.

Bayern only are in this generally bad position because Tuchel trusted the wrong CB duo for like two thirds of the season, both Upa and Kim constantly make costly errors that seem like they god paid by the opposition. If he had trusted de Ligt and had Dier earlier on Tuchel would probably not have to leave after the season. So no, your "science" is wrong, Upa and Kim together do not cancel out each other's mistakes, they just multiply 😂.

Borussia Dortmund won the only Champions League in 1997. Juventus won it the previous year. The ironic thing is that Juventus were the Borussia Dortmund's opponents in 1997, and that both teams had won their Champions League at their home soil (Juventus won it in Rome, while Dortmund won it in Munich), the last two instances that any winning teams of UCL had to do so when the final was played in their own country (excluding the four finals played in the stadium where the finalists had usually played on, like Bayern Munich losing the 2012 Final to Chelsea at the Allianz Arena). Juventus had even beat Borussia Dortmund in the 1993 UEFA Cup Final. Borussia Dortmund's worst season, to date, was in 2014/15, when the club only finished 7th in the Bundesliga, despite making through the Champions League Round of 16 as a group winner (losing to eventual finalist Juventus by 1-5 on aggregate) and DFB Pokal Final (losing to Wolfsburg, still with Kevin De Bruyne, by 1-3). The club had even started poorly, being last place in the table by Christmas, which resulted in Jurgen Klopp leaving the club by the end of the season. Last, but not least, even though Bundesliga will have 5 clubs in the expanded Champions League, they will most likely have 6 if Borussia Dortmund won the Champions League this year, with 6th-placed Eintracht Frankfurt (currently) also qualified. That means, Bundesliga and Serie A will have only 1 team playing in the expanded Europa League instead of 2.

I think Kroos could have won the man of the match award in that game. He was so good and not just in his assist. He seemed to be everywhere on the pitch and was completely controlling madrids possession. When he wasn't involved in buid up, Madrid just gave the ball away. Also his defensive contribution seemed to be better than usual. It looked like playing against bayern was personal to him.
Also, Bayern were pressing so high and so aggressively that I don't blame Kim for being beat in behind. It looked like that aggressive man marking following the striker into the midfield was a tactical instruction. There were several fast breaks that he broke up with a super aggressive intervention but Kroos was too good when unpressed that Kim had no chance.

British guy. Are you American? Look man Vini showed up at the business end of the season which for teams like Madrid is crucial. His first couple of months were rough and yes Jude was carrying the team. Football fans are prone to 1. Stupidity 2. Racism 3. Overreaction. So both these players receive a tonne of unfair criticism. Now Jude is suddenly a bum who is only rated cos he’s English. And Vini Jr is the guy that was “trash “ and then became quality but is a “provocative attention seeking cry baby.” You see what I mean? These fans are stupid as hell.
There are no “ghosts” this team relies on teamwork and hard running. In Vini’s worst performance he’s still getting a couple of assists. In Jude’s worst performance he’s still keeping things ticking over and putting in hard yards. Those fans are not Madridistas, they are just kids with no ball knowledge.
