Hiking and hunting the hills and volcanoes of Central America in the 80’s and 90’s gave Amós Rodriguez a foundation for his ancestral skills life’s practice. Growing up in the context of the U.S. financed civil war in El Salvador increased his urban and wilderness survival and awareness skills; both of which are essential for striving in our modern society.
During the post-war period, Amós assisted rural communities devastated by the violence. These experiences increased his humanism and highlighted the need to be an advocate for secured and regenerative communities.
Amós has been perfecting his craft as a hunter and primitive skills practitioner over the years. He is a humanist, an artist, and a guide. His life intention is to build a better future for the next seven generations.
Some people here in Finland uses those as a drug for tripping (we have psilocybin semilanceata-shrooms growing wild too)🍄🇫🇮
I heard those simmies are amoungest the worlds most powerful...😮😮😮😮😮😮
Amos thank you for being you. I wish everyone I spoke with was as honest as you and I bet you have a good handshake.
Awesome video Amos. I've been following since the 30 days with Greg and love the content. Support from the UK
Appreciate it! big thanks to the UK.
Hey Mark....I totally agree with you ....Ed from Maryland 😁👍🏻
Me, too.
They were sick in the beginning, red tide...they had a rough start. In spite of it all, it was a good trip with just enough fish, fire challenge, bonding, and Amós making his bow and tagging that bird. I became an instant fan.
Also been watching since the 30 day challenge.good luck from the UK
Love your videos ❤ came from Fowlers channel I’ll be around watching all the awesome content you put out 🤟🏻
i had no idea this could be done! thank you for teaching me something new!
I’ve been watching Amos since his Alone episodes and lived the Skills Challenges on History channel. Your skills were very comparable and top quality. I like your video quality. You get great views and you also show unique things you are making from nature. I will continue to watch!
thank you
Hello from Ohio. I really like your videos thanks for the content!!! 👍✌️
How cool man! Really amazing to hear they are delicious too!!! 🍄
Vamos Amós! 😄 Thanks for the video!
Those mushrooms looked really good to eat.
Comanche Nation✌🏾
they were tasty
It is awesome to be able to understand the knowledge that you have of different foods from the forest. Especially to making it more acceptable for human consumption. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. ❤❤
you are welcome. thanks for stopping by
The Vikings used to eat this mushroom to go "bärsärk" ("bear shirt" if translated) in battles. A wine brewed from this mushroom was also consumed before sleep to have "true dreams". I've been told the psychedelic properties of this mushroom strongly affects your dreams when sleeping, but when awake only makes you feel sick. Looks like Amos found a better way to prepare it.. :)
Depends on dose. I have never felt sick from eating them for fun ;) Definitely vivid dreams. Increased endurance as well.
They are not shure could be "bare shirt" also. Also "Oben Nackt".
@@Winnie_Grett Interesting. "Bare shirt" seems more logical some how... Easier to take your shirt of than to get a bear pelt shirt I guess... :) What does "Oben Nackt" mean...? Open neck...?
@@sbondesson "oben nackt" means Naked on top, so the theory is they run without any protection in heavy fights. Sometimes completely naked. Like a bear.
@@sbondesson but its just one theory. The actual word Berserker is Ber (Bär / Bear) and serker (Waffenrock / something like heavy uniform)
Welcome to hitting it on RUclips. This will blow up. Well done sir.
Amos love your channel mate plz keep them coming, I’ve got all my friends and family to get subscribed, your no1 fan in 🏴
thank you much, awesome videos in the pipeline
I make a water extract from Amanita Muscaria and I have been able to replace my antidepressants by taking one teaspoon daily. 30grams in 250ml low pH water slow simmered in pH under 3 water, 50 doses of 5ml each. 100% Muscimol sedative. My life is greatly improved.
so awesome that you are using the medicine that way. lots of extracts being offered these days but there is nothing like making your own and figuring out how the land want to help us along. hopefully more and more people start using plant (and fungi) medicine to heal as an alternative to the harsh lab made chemicals that sometime don't work for everyone.
I watched the Vice series and every mushroom has a different potency. How do you measure that?
Low pH means acid. How do you get the water to a low pH?
@@lettheriver why not just cook it in apple cider
@lettheriver
Use lemon juice or apple juice to lower pH of the water or anything acidic but edible
Thanks Amos, great video...i pray i see you soon in another vid...Be Well🕊🕊💛💛
✨🍄I think this is now one of my new fav vids you've put out 🍄✨
It's been super wet this winter too, perfect for mushrooms this spring 👍
Great job! Really enjoy your videos and look forward to watching more in the future.
Awesome, thank you!
Amos! I had no idea! Cool video. Thanks. 😃😁🍄🍄🍄
Great video Amós. Just decided to check out your channel after seeing you on Greg's. Glad you started making videos, you bring a new personality and a lovely respect for nature to the bush.
thank you, respecting Nature so we can leave a better future to the next seven generations is my big goal. glad you enjoyed the videos
@@amosrodriguezsurvival That’s such a good goal! I hope to help on that mission myself by treating the wilderness well.
The precious ft. Stevens, one of my homes on earth. It is very generous in many types of fungi and one of my favorite places to find Muscaria. Don't fear the Muscaria but pick it with love and appreciation. It's very sensitive but when picked properly it will prevent it from turning itself more poisonous (it's self defense when feeling threatened). I have eaten large quantities of fresh over many years. Sometimes it's too much and that's the end of the day, other times when picked right with some vitamin c, magnesium and mik thistle to go along with it has been some of the most magical energizing and uplifting days of my life. It took me out of Lyme disease coma/fatigue nightmare and gave me some what of a normal life back. Great as an addition(cooked etc) to food as well. Just make sure if eating it like a chanterelle you'd cook it heavy just like you would a chanterelle or lobster if you don't want any of the inebriation effects this gift to humanity might spring on you.
the fungi kingdom is so amazing. its truly incredible how many benefits for people and for the whole ecosystem. you are a living example of its amazing qualities. thank you for sharing your story and for the tips.
keep on doing what u doing there Amos!! big support to you!
Thank you, I will
Hey Amos, always learning new things! See ya soon. GBU.,SM.,NZ., ✌❤😁🤗
So glad I found your channel! I liked you on the survival show. I love the Amanita mushroom. It can help you heal your soul. It can help you with addictions and all kinds of emotional problems. It also helps with pain.
I love this side of your foraging
Super Awesomenessssss....Thanks for the Awesomenesss Video and Subject
I dig it, keep the videos flowing Amos🤘🏼
Thanks! Will do!
beautiful video! I even have the same pot, and a couple of days ago did the same thing as you've done here. Absolutely double boil them. I could see in your face how surprisingly delicious they are fried with just a little salt. They are also excent at retaining , or regaining , their structure and end up very much like chicken-nuggets.
Hallo Rodiquaes,
I have watch you for some time , Man I like you attitude for surviving, catching fish and what really blow´s my mind was when you were on the 30 day survival with your buddy and you made your own bow from nothing that just say you are one of the best.
I live know in Germany but came from South Africa , I was there in the SP forces long time ago and we learned to harvest from the earth .
any way excuse my bad English I wish the best for you and your Y-Tube serious and your family. Please
thanks so much for the compliments and good wishes
Love the videos, love the editing! Yummy! Many thanks.

thank you for watching
Well done Amos my Grandmother taught me this over 50yrs ago and we would make them into a mushroom sauce and have it on toast for breakfast . There are many tricks of the trade when it comes to food that will poison you and the secret is always in the process and preparing .
🤣
@@guesswhosbackg6616 The beauty of Fugu is you first eat it to impress your lady and you eat it again to get out of a terrible marriage . 🤣
Awesome show thank you for sharing it. Have a great day
Thank you! You too!
AWESOME!
THANKS FOR THE VIDEO
Doing great with your videos looking forward to more adventures and good content🦅
Thanks 👍
Love the taste of this mushroom, you can do a full conversion (adjusting for the moles) of the ibotenic acid present into muscamol, heating it for over 140 mins at 100 degrees C and in a solution of water at the pH of 7.4 then you end up with a full conversion instead of partial.
You can just boil the mushroom though and throw the water away if you wanna eat it, so delicious, I also love the effects personally but most people seem too hate the mushroom.
really delicious
Why they add limon usually ?
some studies say if you reduce the ph with limon or citric acid to 2.5-3 it can decarboxylate the ibotenic acid@@mkx9095
100 degrees c is pretty damn hot , beyond boiling, id be surprised if there would be any liquid left after 140mins of fast boiling
Great job putting this video together!! Subbed
I've had the experience that if you can find fly argaric mushrooms ,then bolettes or other mycorrhizal are pretty close by as well. Fly argaric arent necessarily indicators, but they like the same growing conditions as the bolettes for example
Had that experience this morning, I’ve never paid attention to mushrooms but after seeing one this morning, right next to it was a bolette that must have been a foot wide
First time watching you bud! Im here for the long run now nice work! #higreg ✌🏼
Awesome! Thank you!
Over here from Greg's channel. New subscriber here my dude! Great stuff!
Awesome! Thank you!
Way to go Amos great channel love to see more

Great video Amos!
Appreciate it! lost a bunch of footage from the days I went foraging so Im glad I was able to at least have those clips. the sorrows of a new youtuber 🤣
Thank you. I've just recently found your channel. Through Greg @ Oven's Rocky Mountain Bushcraft.
Great video!
Another awesome video
Well thanks mate you just gave me the cheery on my cake cause I bin throwing the mushroom away and drinking the juice lol I'm telling you now I love it lol
These mushrooms just make you feel relaxed at least the variety we have in North America. It's the equivalent to the body high of pot or alcohol without the mental intoxication of those substances.
Hello from Utah 👍 love your vids. 👍
thanks JoDee
Really good video. Thanks! I subbed.
Big shout out from southwales uk!!!Just picked a load thismorning walking the pooch up the mountain
ha ha ha, its pretty delicious.
I love the accent! You are a wonderful teacher. Bendiga!
gracias
They look delicious! 😊
We have those mushrooms up here in Ontario, never thought one could eat those . very interesting Amos , now i shall know what do do if i get stranded somewhere and have no food. thank you
Heck yeah thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching!
Hey Amós, I’m glad you made it eatin your mushroom lol. I’m enjoying all your videos was hoping for something outside of your videos with Zach. That series is great glad you got your fishy smelling hands lol. Lookin for more you rock.❤
thank you
nice content, amos!
This guy reminds me of Napoleon Dynamite's friend Pedro in the best way.
build her a cake or sone thing...
An adult version.
The sleeps on this 🍄 are dreamily wonderful,
This is a beautiful kind 🍄 but very powerful ,lol you got this
This mushrooming is not only edible it is has a whole bunch of other uses alot of people say they boil and dry them and take them for pain, anxiety, depression, addiction, sleeping issues, etc bunch of other uses most people who take them take them in micro doses and some people even make them into a tincture for pain it's super interesting and something i am considering trying myself
It has relieved my depression and replaced ssris, and completely relieved the pain from my sprained ankle. A topical oil formulation relieves sciatica.
I've just recently discovered the amazing world of mushrooms and one day as I was walking behind my house I found a mushroom and I didn't know what it was so I used Google Lens and it was a Fly Agaric or one of the other amanitas. I was fascinated by what I found online and depending on who you ask the fly agaric is possibly the greatest thing in the world.
Nice video I like them raw or dried it helps you sleep and when you wake up you feel powerful but be careful don't eat too much !!!
Hey almost you should come to Santa Cruz mountains we have hundreds of different varieties edible including one you showing right here great video
hopefully Ill make my way there
Good job Amos. A nice looking mushroom but poisonous.
Everything is toxic in the wrong doseage.
eres la onda hermano!!
tratando, gracias.
Awesome video!
Thanks!
Awesome video--a part of the country I'd love to visit!
My only encounter with muscaria, I just dried and ate them. Worked out fine but...weird.
Man I used to live in Astoria. I used to pick the funny mushrooms out there at that park lol
I had no idea you could eat those. Great content as always!
Love your channel boss.
thanks, Im trying
rock on brother shaking off the stigmas
I hope to go out tomorrow looking. I ferment mine in brine or make vinegar.. 🙂
I’ve eaten four caps dried at once before going to bed. I woke up the room was spinning like when being extremely drunk but without the hangover. I can’t remember ever feeling that happy
Yes, this.
The toxins are so strong flies land on they die, very toxic... I had one in I almost died
Actually if you boil the water for long enough 2-3 hours you can have a safe form of the "trippy" substance as it all gets converted to a safely digestable compound. They look really tasty too actually!
Cool!
Back :) TY
Nice video and it's great to see the process too make this mushroom edible and ready to consume in a camping trip or a survival situation, I'm curious will consuming the shroom this way still result in feeling it's psychedelic effects or has that effectively been neutralized during the boiling? Anyway great video Amós hope to see a lot more great foraging knowledge. Thank you and zacks team for such wonderful content.
double boil gets rid of the psychoactive compounds
Ibotenic acid/muscimol is water soluble so get rid of the cooking water. U probably be fine even without dumping out most of the water if not have a nice flight.
Cool video
looks dank brother
it was...
love it! hopefully you do more edible plant videos
God bless you!
Thank you for the video Amós,all the best for you. btw when you cooked it has any after effect for you ?
not when you double boil and replace the water. the Ibotenic Acid and muscimol are leached out of them so not psycoactive effects. Now if you do drink the water....
I put them directly in a hot pan ,Blackpepper,Salt, Butter and a lot of unions.
After you carried Greg through that survival challenge I had to subscribe to you. Greetings from Wisconsin. We love drinking beer. I'd love to have a beer with you some day.
if the stars align one day we may enjoy a spotted cow or any other Wisconsin ale. cheers!
now im deff getting some from serenity herbal
Hey Amos, I haven't seen anything since this from you.? Up with that? Are you waiting to maybe wait till you finish some other video, or videos? I believe I put the notifications on. See ya soon! As always, GBU.,SM.,NZ.,✌❤😁🤗🤟
Contrary to what we are taught to believe, Amanita Muscaria are not deadly at all. In fact, they have saved many people's lives in helping cure addictions and mental illnesses. Look it up.
it is true, if anything "deaths" are probably caused by misidentification. I believe in the edible and medicinal qualities of this mushroom.
I was rooting for you on the show Alone
Good video with an interesting idea. I think you need more close ups, with explanations.
You wild Amos 🤣🤣🤣🤣
most times😆
Just a note, since you mention using this for a survival situation: That water you dumped out of the pot contained enough muscaline in it to give you crackhead energy for 6 hours.
Well, most likely, it loses potency if it gets TOO hot.
Having that tea in a survival situation could be a very useful tool.
They sell amanita mascara gummies and chocolates now in head shops
Amos did this not make you feel sleepy and buzzed by eating this Aliec in Wonderland mushroom?
I dont think it did but I cant recall what happened after I chased that rabbit down that hole...
Did you sleep pretty well that night? I see them all the time, I’ll have to try it.
Nice
Catch and cook. Did those shrooms run very fast or did you just imagine they ran fast after consuming one or two. 😅
Come to me..i have all those. In mendocino county.
Ps. Always remember to carry garic when your foraging😅
🍄
Does double boiling work also for other things?
My time to shine 🍄
The topical tincture has changed the lives of people i know with various pains, of all ages. Back ache, arthritis, lady pains, (put it on your tummy). 😅
