I had my 8.8 redone by a cat in Clearwater about 10 years ago. Still chirps the tire when I turn. 😂 3.73's and a 5 speed sure are fun! Should be a tough rear when you're done!
Was suppose to be Largo, not Lego. I’m have to give it some thought. I grew up at Idle Wild Racing, FordSpeed and Mitchell Motorsports (Not Bill Mitchell products), then a little bit around Race Related. This was all 20-25 years ago or so as I’ve been gone about that much time now.
Does the other axle have a limited sliip? You used to be able to buy 1 or 2 clutch kits and stack new clutches friction steel friction steel etc... and have a decent unit. GM square wells over round tires 🤦
Always think it's pretty cool when someone can cut the diff and weld it back on, I know my limitations. awesome job on it and it will give you what you want.
Off topic, because this is about gray ghost, but please build an 87/88 gt ttop and sell it to me. Did i say please? Always enjoy your videos bro, keep it up
Im getting more than my fill of sometimes you build an engine and you have a problem … i built a 030 87 5.0 y to go in my ranger … about 2 tanks of gas in i hear a rod knock .. i tear it down only to find i have major piston slap on a freshly bored motor with new pistons from engine tech .. so i measure bore n measure pistons .. i find out the piston is indeed marked with a 030 on the top but it measures a std bore piston … you just cant trust anybody no more !!!!

😢🔔😎 Most people don't know that an 8.8 Ford has interchangable parts with a Chevy 12 bolt. So yes it's even stronger. "The Fabrication Series YT March 2018 TFS, How to narrow a Ford 8.8 rearend" has a great very detailed step by step narrowing.👍😎
So out of curiosity not to criticize but why would you cut the axle there instead of pulling it from the bell and cutting it wouldn't it be easier and less likely to be worped or out of line tring to learn here ive never narrow an 8.8
Phew, thank God! I feel like you guys just got back from the machine shop with that one, to have it be making noise, scary...but can't wait for the new video to get filled in! Edit: also finally got some sve heads and a cobra intake going on my t-bird, been rewatching your old videos when you bolted a set to the calypso clone. Can't wait to see what they do to the ol' bird!
I’m gonna type this and I know you’ll address it in the video in 5 mins like you have every single video for the last 8yrs. lol. But for street cars, the new edge 8.8 is 3/4 inch wider Than the sn95, and sn95 is a hair wider than fox body axles.
Tin soldier racecars builds one of the baddest 8.8 rears you are going to find. My mountaineer 8.8 has been holding up well behind my 351 and I dont make enough power to get the tin soldier one but when this breaks I am
Now I wonder what is in my fox. It was a 4 cylinder original car and has been swapped to 5.0 and has rear disc and five lug. I wonder if it has 28 or 31 spline. It seems to have a bent axle. The driver wheel wobbles a little and I switched the wheels and it still wobbled.
You can buy "Torino style" 9" tube ends, and cut- to - length axle in any pattern, for about $300-500, and have a captured axle bearing / semi floating axle , and skip the c clips, for just a few more $$.
You should go ahead and weld the axle tubes to the housing.
I am 👌
Andrews truck sounds great
Pretty truck Andrew!! Sounds good too!! Them wheels is perfect for LA! 🤣
Awesome job on the rear end💯 Andrew’s GMC is sic Bro!👊🏾
Good job! Yes, I have been plotting a 8.8 in a Mopar project 😀

Clearwater FL?
Yes sir@MikeFL2TX. I lived up the road in Palm Harbor.
@@k5wxp22 oh cool. I grew up in Lego before moving to TX. I had a neighbor who had an 8.8 built by NBS back in the day.
@@MikeFL2TX I don't remember the name of the shop. He was right off of hwy 19 in Clearwater. Did a lot of work on race cars.

Thanks for the information my man!
The tag on the difs will say if its limited or non limited
Example 3L55 means 355 gears with limited slip
And if there isnt an L than its no gooder.

I knew it as Garage Man's Companion

This rear end only cost me $100 plus the calipers should hold the axle in
