Couple of things to note. The stock LS1 throttle body is no different than the LS6 throttle body. They are the same part and as far as I know there's nothing to upgrade to without going to a 90mm intake. Something else you many want to consider if you ever take your intake off again is going to the CTS-V valley cover which will almost negate the need for a catch can. It's that good. A lot of people still run both though. One of the first things I took off of mine was the Fuel Rail Covers. Don't know why they're called that but I don't like them. Something you may be interested in, is going to the Holley valve covers and LS3 coils. It's a really clean setup and gets rid of the bulky LS1 coils and brackets. Have fun with it!
@@jcloud96 I believe there are two different versions with both that have the pipe that comes out from under the intake by the TB. This is the one that is recommended by part number.......GM 12577927 ENGINE OIL VALLEY COVER BUILT IN PCV. It is supposed to be the most efficient.
I wish I had one already. Also, an aftermarket cup holder. I had just bought one of those 44oz drinks from 7-11. I went to an exhaust shop to have the mufflers removed. I decided to back into a parking space in their lot. I looked in my driver side mirror to spot the yellow line to line up my car. All of a sudden, I come to a complete stop, along with a loud BANG. I then decided to look in my rear view mirror, and I see this large square pole behind me. The pole belongs to a lift that I hadn't noticed when driving into the lot. After seeing what I had hit in my rear view mirror, I just shook my head, opened my door and just sat for a moment thinking there'd be a large dent. I get out, and walk to the rear of my car to find minimal damage. There was a small line of paint transfer along the top lip of my rear end. I could also see the two vertical green lines on the black piece below the bumper from the lift pole. I just started laughing, and decided to get back into my car. I then find that my 44oz drink had fallen out of that shit of a cup holder, and spilled all over the passenger side carpet. Luckily, it was Pepsi, and the carpet is black. I took my jacket off and soaked it all up. Continued to get my Borla mufflers removed, and noticed that one of the exhaust tips was crooked after the service. I had thought it was because the guy didn't put it back the way it was. As it turns out, that's what took all of the impact from that stupid fucking lift, and my lack of awareness. Paint came off from all points of contact. Just need to straighten the right exhaust tip. It is just slightly crooked. Luckily.
Hey Chris the only thing that you missed is that red rag that’s been laying on the ground under the back the last couple videos. LOL you and your family stay safe and keep pumping out the great content.
I’m a c6 owner but I absolutely love your c5. I’m looking to purchase one to play with in the near future because of your videos.. Keep up the good work.
Well made video. Beautiful car. I think your mods are very tasteful. I’ve got to say though. I’ve never seen a mods list video with piano music playing in the background. I got a kick out of that. 😂.
Hey Chris, another great video. I like everything you have done to your C5. I think the brake upgrade is my favorite mod you have done to date. Thank you for all your how to vids. Hope you and the family are doing well and getting through this stay at home thing. Happy Easter
Thanks Chris! Have you ever thought about removing the body side moldings? Some people like the look with them and some without. I still have mine on and I’m still trying to decide if I should pull them off.
RTM those side moldings are designed for down force. So it depends on how you drive the car. If you take them off put a spoiler on if you drive it hard.
Rtm, mine doesnt have them. I like it better without them. Makes the car look cleaner. Problem is, if yours has them and you try to take them off, it may take the paint with it as they have been on 20 years or so.
smokinC5 I agree, I’ve seen some methods online and I do have a polisher and different pads/compounds and was planning on fully detailing my car this year so I am still seriously considering it. Luckily my car still has lower mileage so I know I won’t run into faded paint or anything like that when I pull them.
The only purpose they serve is protecting the doors. Much cleaner look without them. Personally i think they were designed by the same guy that designed the wagon wheels lol. Hopefully he was fired hahaha
Chris I have been watching your Videos on and off since you picked up your C5 but I haven’t subscribed until today. I have owned my C5 Nine Years now and also own a C2,C3 and C6 all Coupes. This year of 2020 makes 50 years of me owning and driving Corvettes and working on them. I got to say I like seeing a young fellow like yourself really getting into your Corvette. Keep making videos. A little food for thought. I am surprised you haven’t put the Corvette Flag Decal in the Center of your steering wheel. I did with my ‘99 what a different look. It actually looks like it belongs there. My car is basically a bone stock 6 spd Black Coupe with aftermarket Chrome Thin Spoke Wheels and a Black Wing Intake. It only has 37k miles on it. It even has the original stock exhaust but I added custom chrome exhaust tips being the factory tips looked like crap right after I purchased the car. If I want to hear something louder with a roar I can easily take out either my C2 or C3 both equipped with Factory Side exhaust. It might be the age thing with me now also. I like my C5 and C6 at the factory level of Sound. The only other thing I have decided to do with my ‘99 which I haven’t found the time to do as of yet is to install a brand new Kenwood Double Dinn Receiver with CarPlay. I already purchased a new dash to accommodate it and I purchased the receiver and everything else to do the install. Here in the North East I only get about 6 months to play around with all my cars and I have quite a few to maintain so depending on what gets in the way determines what I can do these days. Keep doing your videos. I tell people that I spend more time on You Tube today then I do on TV. Actually most TV these days bore me. On You Tube I always run into things I like to check out.
nice mods and the color contrast is perfect, very classy. the seats and the entire interior is visually stunning. the first vette that i ever saw was a white 65 , the headlights were rotated and it was parked so im not sure what the issue was , nevertheless it was love at first sight and i then began to cut grass as a young boy so i could buy model corvette kits. thanks for this vid, very well done.
Great stuff. One thing in the video and not on the list is the transparent roof removable headliner. Where is it from and how do I get one? The sun gets vicious here in SC too in summer. Thanks!
The corvette market for modifying the car. Absolutley modify the car! Make it your own. The market includes every model corvette. Your doing some great things with yours, nice job!!
Most if not all corvette owners do mods either exterior, interior or performance to make it their own. Personally I like what you have done to your C 5. Thanks for all you do for the C 5 comments 👍
Hi Chris i am curious how you can about your 98. I will look at the older videos. I bought a 98 in 99, it had 4,000 miles on it. Just like yours White with Black interior and M6 stick shift. I loved the car and drove it for it 140,000 miles. I have also made modification. And see some you have done i would have liked to do. The wide fenders for sure. I have always been a car nut. I had the opportunity to buy a used Magnuson Supercharger from a guy that runs Top Speed events. I already had headers so this was a nice addition. But i was greedy and keep increasing boost on the stock motor until i broke it. I had just sold a big system to the FBI so i used that commission to get a new motor build. Iron Block LS motor, my heads, crane cam and rockers, Cam, lifters etc etc, and an intercooler. Multiple clutches, Aluminum Flywheel, McLeod, Short throw shifter with a tall MOMO Carbon Fiber knob. Bump on the hood to clear the blower and 1966 Corvette 427 Hood Vent Grills. Had the wheels painted white. Last dyno run was 525 HP, but then i had an accident, not the car, but me, carbon monoxide poisoning. My wife was out of town in business at the time and i was pretty sick, hyberbolic chamber etc etc , afterward she blamed the car and i had to sell it. It now lives in Kentucky and the new owner renamed the car. I named it White Fang. After he took his brother for a ride they decided to name Frankenstein. It is so mild mannered, until you nail the gas then it rips your head off. I truly miss my old Car, so when i saw yours and heard you talking it was like revisiting my old beast. I took to car shows in Effingham, Illinois, Bloomington, Carlyle and the Factory in Bowling Green, from Florida, to New York etc. The next car was a 2007 Ron Fellows, then just last year a 2014 Z51. All were white as was my first Corvette a 1964 and a 79 L82. You Take Care, enjoy and keep posting. Great trip. D
Chris: I'm curious, on the back of your car, is that Corvette logo a stick on or is that a embossed logo into the back end? I've seen two different versions on the C5, can you explain the difference in years?
Hello Chris, a hot day here in Phoenix, AZ. That said, my condolences to you and your family for your grandmothers loss! I would like to reach out to you with regard getting together with our Vettes. I have been down the Corvette clubs here in the Phoenix area and I must say am not impressed. Look forward to you reaching out to me. Blue skies, Jg
Excellent video Chris! You’re getting kind of gray there dude! I can’t talk, I’m gray and bald. Of course I’m 75! I am still enjoying my 2001 Torch Red C5 Convertible. Mostly stock but. I installed a Borla Stinger exhaust and Diablo Sport Intune 91 Octane tune. It really woke up my old LS1. I look forward to seeing more of your great videos! Keep up the good work!
Nice car Chris! I'm getting my C5 soon. It will be stock, electron blue metallic with black/gray interior. The first thing to go will be the terrible exterior and interior lights. They will all be LEDs except the HID headlights.
C5 owner. Fun car for the money. Aftermarket is big. New c8 is nice but Euro. Up to the c6 is a must own but a used c8 next to it. Gonna enjoy the c5 for now. 😎
@@vthong50 Hey Vance, ya I'm going to wait for the price to come down on the C8. I'm limited because of my size I only fit in a C5 or C8. I'm not interested in a C1,2 or 3, C4, C6, C7 are too small, plus the older ones have too many reliability issues!
@@anthonymitchell2354 Sounds like you know what you should get. C5 bridges the gap between too much tech and just enough in my opinion. None of the new cars they make interest me for the money. Good luck with the C5.
Hey chris did you notice much of a difference when u swapped out the top end of the engine ? Thanks for the content i added the c7 carbon kit based on your video and love them
Great stuff!!! I love everything you've done. Screw the "purists" and haters. Their the same ones that belittle, bitch, moan, and complain all the time on Corvette Forum and hate the C8. Life's too short to worry about things so ridiculous.
For a very long time any mods to an iconic car (no matter the car) was considered a cardinal sin. I recent years though it’s become far more acceptable. Every car can be an individual just like it’s owner. Your C5 is SICK! So let the haters hate knowing that they’re only jealous!
I love your videos, i enjoy watching your car grow its nice when i got down time to watch. Gotta ask though are you a fellow stoner? Lol i ask cause you seem so laid back and go with the flow
What a lot of people do not know is that no matter what C5 you have Chevrolet only made 3000 of the exact package you are sitting in. If you did not make Modesto your Vette and post them your channel would be awfully boring. No? Keep making the mods, keep posting. Haters are gonna hate.
Is there a LS FORUM to go to, so I can get some more information what to do with my motor? I'm running a supercharged n meth injected 661 RWHP I'm looking for well over 1000 . This is where I need help what to do to achieve this. 10.01-140mph is her best time . BEEN LIKE THIS FOR 10 YRS NOW IM BORED!..🥱✌
Why drive a car that looks like every other one on the road. When I pull up to a parking lot with 100 red vettes in it I want mine to stand out from EVERYTHING! If you can’t pick your car out from a simple glance from all the rest your into cars for the wrong reason in my opinion. Keep it up Chris 👍🏼
I have a 2001 C5 automatic. Only has 48k miles. I was wondering if you know the hp specs. I have heard 350hp and 350ft p . Then I heard 360ft p. Then I hear 375ft p. I also heard a guy say in 2001 the LS1 had a different intake LS6. Is any of this true?
There are a lot of very minor changes that occurred to the LS1 between 97-04. As a rule of thumb though, the factory rated the 1997-00 345hp/350ft-lbs, 2001-04 350hp/375ft-lbs. All 2001+ cars used the LS6 intake manifold.
I wish someone would come up with better back up light lenses. They seem so dull and faded looking. One of the few things I hate on the back of my c5. Even new they looked faded.
I used to be the writer for Badboyvettes.com. I’ve been a big Corvette Racing fan for 20 years. The Michelin tire engineer for Corvette gave that to me as a gift. It also hides my water heater.
Wow,, for as much as you have done to this regular Corvette,, you might as well have just got a C5 Z06, and then you would have about what you have got now,,, but I guess that you are having a good time with it,,,, miles of smiles...
Not even close. I’ve gone over this before. My car makes 422whp. That’s about 490 at the crank. I’m way faster than a stock Z06 and faster than some modified ones.
I like the Luk clutches. I went with the c5z06 replacement. Good to about 500 hp. Make sure to rebuild the torque tube and ALL associated parts down there, this job sucks and you dont want to do it but once. Also a good time to replace all bushings as the whole rear of the car will be apart. Good luck!
@@mycorvettelife thanks for responding it took me 5 hours to remove the clutch, it looks like a tick monster stage 3 kit and it's trash.
@@anthonymitchell2354
Sounds like you know what you should get. C5 bridges the gap between too much tech and just enough in my opinion. None of the new cars they make interest me for the money. Good luck with the C5.
Chris, what lights are you using for your license plate? I enjoy all of your videos and have learned a lot. Thanks.
VetteLEDs.com
Hey chris did you notice much of a difference when u swapped out the top end of the engine ?
Thanks for the content i added the c7 carbon kit based on your video and love them
Yes 30hp gain.
Lol, no.
Hi!! How or what did you do for the rubber trim insulationaround the door. Is that upgraded? In pretty neat shape.
Stock
Hot when hammering on them?I took mine on the dragon and never went past 220.
You must not have been hammering it hard enough. 🤣. Every car is different. You must be lucky.
Hey, nice channel! What bulbs are you using for your license plate? That blue looks cool.
Vetteleds.com. Use code “MCL5” at checkout for a discount.
Chris do you know anything about leaking convertibles on c5’s
No. Check Corvette Forum.
I like your channel good channel.
love your mods, will the front calipers on C5 fit on the rear
T B yes they fit check the forums !
@@jcloud96 thanks, I will check it out
look great 👍. ... about the spoiler they make C6 design for C5 .. C6 ZR1 Style Spoiler - No Drill Design! For C5 .. look very very. good. . .
Yea they make many different ones for C5. Personally the only ones I like are SLP and C7Carbon.
You right 👌
Have you had to replace your harmonic balancer . If so which one did you use
No, but if I did I would use ATI.
@@mycorvettelife That would've been my next question. Thanks for taking the time to reply
Hi Chris
What size are your tires on your vette?
275 front, 325 rear
What a lot of people do not know is that no matter what C5 you have Chevrolet only made 3000 of the exact package you are sitting in.
If you did not make Modesto your Vette and post them your channel would be awfully boring. No? Keep making the mods, keep posting. Haters are gonna hate.
What rear diffuser is that/ Couldn't find it in the description and think you missed it in the video
Stock. It’s just painted black.
Question
Do all c5 need spring job??
Or just certain yrs?
Yes
Are the Halo lights a pain to install?
No.
Do all c5 z06 need spring job?
Yes
👍...love ur mods....ur life ur money...🤣.....✌
What money? I have a C5.
ProCharger?
Is there a LS FORUM to go to, so I can get some more information what to do with my motor? I'm running a supercharged n meth injected 661 RWHP I'm looking for well over 1000 . This is where I need help what to do to achieve this. 10.01-140mph is her best time . BEEN LIKE THIS FOR 10 YRS NOW IM BORED!..🥱✌
There are many forums. LS has to be the most documented and modified engine in history.
What do you do for a living? Just out of curiosity...
Project manager for an electrical contractor.
like the elevator music in the background!
@@mycorvettelife Thanks. That clears up a lot.
Do you have that ecbm problem?
No
I love you Chris 😘
Are the lights legal?
Yes
I wish someone would come up with better back up light lenses. They seem so dull and faded looking. One of the few things I hate on the back of my c5. Even new they looked faded.
They do. Google C5 diamond cut reverse lights. Also, I highly suggest using the bright LEDs that VetteLEDs.com has to offer.
Inquisitive minds need to know...What's behind the Michelin Man curtain?
I used to be the writer for Badboyvettes.com. I’ve been a big Corvette Racing fan for 20 years. The Michelin tire engineer for Corvette gave that to me as a gift. It also hides my water heater.
@@mycorvettelife Thank you Chris. Happy Easter to you and your family and please stay well!
I think my c5 is the only 1 left with 2 tips and not 4 tips
Wow,, for as much as you have done to this regular Corvette,, you might as well have just got a C5 Z06, and then you would have about what you have got now,,, but I guess that you are having a good time with it,,,, miles of smiles...
Not even close. I’ve gone over this before. My car makes 422whp. That’s about 490 at the crank. I’m way faster than a stock Z06 and faster than some modified ones.
🇺🇸
I'm changing out my clutch on my 03 Z06 do have any tips
I like the Luk clutches. I went with the c5z06 replacement. Good to about 500 hp. Make sure to rebuild the torque tube and ALL associated parts down there, this job sucks and you dont want to do it but once. Also a good time to replace all bushings as the whole rear of the car will be apart. Good luck!
@@smokinC5 did you have to Ballance the clutch flywheel pressure plate or were they already ballanced
I didnt do it my self. I am pretty sure the guy that did it.
I just had a LS7 clutch and flywheel installed. Seems to be working very well, and feels stock.
@@mycorvettelife thanks for responding it took me 5 hours to remove the clutch, it looks like a tick monster stage 3 kit and it's trash. Your videos is the reason I bought a vett and the confidence to tackle this progect. If this car destroyed a stage 3 what would you suggest. Keep up the videos I watch all of them thanks Blue Collar Vett
Still to this day I will never understand the keep it stock and engine mod only mentality.
Looks at camera looks away looks at camera looks away still great car and vid
Haters probably dont have a corvette haha
Great video Chris next time leave the music out.
Love your video you do a great job brother... BUT THAT MUSIC MAKES ME WANNA CUT MY EARS OFF
Some love it, some hate it. It’s iconic to the channel.
What you think looks good or not is your opinion. If you're gonna make vedios about vettes please keep your opinion to yourself. I have my own opinion about what's best or looks good or not .
Why do I need to keep my opinion to myself about what I install on my car?
You're right Chris , but when you say something looks bad that's on my car I don't want to hear it . For one thing you were critiquing halogen headlights, I happen to like mine. Brag on yours all you want .
black your tailights
No
paint dont match
