    Just googled Thika road before it's construction and this video popped out. It's funny how 11 years later traffic is still a major issue. Anyways, the upgrading of the road has been a major project in shaping the country's infrastructural development.

    If this it will work then i bet Kenya should campaign for the next African cup of Nation host. Good luck to all those involved we hope it will not be grounded like the many we have seen before.

    I really DO understand the difference. I also understand why people in Kenya have to drive slowly- poor roads. IN USA someone will people drive even upto 100 mph (about 150km/hr)!! Why, coz the roads are good. Im not encouraging speeding, but getting to where you need to go does reduce time waste. Remember: Time=Money. How much time do you waste in Kenya sitting in traffic?

    this is good for kenya,good highways means lots of transport of goods which helps economy and they have modern roads with fly-overs about time!!!

    if this works, road accidents on that stretch of road should decline dramatically. Anywhere people drive at over 50kph should be a dual carriage at minimum because some of those little roads are a danger to drive on when you are sober.

    A good project is 30% planning and the rest is execution. It looks like the govenment and contractors building Thika road did not plan on how to keep the traffic moving and the business going. access roads are the first one to be constructed with asphalt and if they are murram roads, then then need to be watered periodically. They also need a good drainage for when it rains. That way they control the dust and and these adjacent road may later be used as access roads.
    Good job though.

    @midiafreemega Well, where i live thats how it is and accidents with the exception of your minor bumper to bumper kiss, almost never happen. And yes they are 30mph roads.

  • @midiafreemega
    @midiafreemega 14 лет назад

    @daniells71 . 50kph? are you kidding me!? That is "school zone" speed in USA. (yaani in areas with schools you slow down to avoid hitting stupid kids). You have the right idea though, but i suggest EVERY road should be dual carriage with a concrete median or a 10meter median to separate the lanes.

    I disagree with demolition of beautiful buildings to make way for "future" roads. Make the owners pay a fine then use the money to improve the road, instead of SPENDING money to make way. You can simply wind the road to avoid the expensive but pretty buildings. KENYANS: LEARN HOW TO MAKE MONEY!!
