- Nairobi Expressway to be commissioned in six months, says CS
The Nairobi Expressway Project is a 27.1km road project beginning from Mlolongo through the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) and Nairobi’s CBD to Westland’s area along Waiyaki Way. The over US $560m road project is the first major project in the Kenya to be carried out
through a PPP model.
The Nairobi Expressway will have a four-lane and six-lane dual carriageway within the existing median of Mombasa Road, Uhuru Highway, and Waiyaki Way as well as 10 interchanges. The section between the Eastern and Southern bypasses will be a six-lane dual carriageway while the section from to the Eastern Bypass and that from the Southern Bypass to James Gichuru will be a four-lane dual carriageway.

Thanks Man.
Wow...thanks for the update! Kenya is beautiful
The smooth flow of the drone shots is awesome. It brings out the ecstatic feeling, we can't wait to use this great expressway.
Kenya is making major moves. Other African nations can learn one or two things from Kenya. The road is the longest of its kind in Africa.once complete, it's going to change the face of Nairobi completely. Nice video.
Which African countries are you talking about? Cut that buishit majority of African countries are building infrastructure.....south Africa, has lots of roads than this
@@rossbank7248 Its the longest express way in Africa..check your inferiority complex
@@truepatriot5425 but he's speaking the truth no need to be emotional, Nigeria and South Africa have these things even the North Africans. Kenyans just love feeling important than others 😂😂. And if you know first world countries are trying to move out of such projects because of their many negative effects.
@@jaro5603 maybe South Africa may have one close to this....but Nigeria doesn't have any, the bridge in Lagos is the best road there
@@stephenkuria2823 doesn't matter that's beside my point. My point is that Kenyans should stop thinking they are the benchmark in everything in Africa, many countries out here doing good. And before you assume, I'm from here too.
There is the Dogo Kundu project in Mombasa ,LAPSSET project in Lamu. We'd love to see progress of those ones as well.Thank you in advance

I can't wait till the project is completed and the necessary landscaping done. The city views will be epic.

Watching this through your lenses slaps differently. Man, I love your artwork 🙌!
Asante sana.
I think the road could be totally complete by October 2022 thus including even servicing lanes to be put so as to have the true look of the artist impression of Nairobi jkia expressway.

Wow the Roadway looks amazing! Well done to kenya! Other African countries should take note.
Great content 👌👏thanks for the information ...
I think the kenyan budget has to increase in order to see more projects like these ..bigger budget leds to more bigger projects .
Yes but this project is under PPP so it's outside the government's budget or loan book. Hence the reason why toll stations will be in place.
Such great Views from the sky. Slight correction The Cost is 62B Kenya Shillings not USD
Vamos Nairobi, BRAVO to AT for putting in a lot of work🤞🏿🥂
Thank you.
Kazi safi as always. Thanks for sharing.
The drone shots are superb. Thank you Afrikan Traveller
Good job as always. You got it wrong on the cost. I thought its 620 million dollars and not 62 billion dollars. That would be the whole Tanzania GDP.
Exactly what run through my mind...it cannot be the size of TZ economy
Sorry missed that.
It's 62 billion Kenya shillings not dollars
I’m so excited to watch.
Afrikan Traveler , I know it’s another amazing video.

This is interesting trust me the view from up there is dope
IMAGINE KAMA MOI HANGEKUWA MWIZI,KENYA WOULD HAVE BEEN NUMBER 1 IN AFRICA.
Thanks Afrikan Traveller the Nairobi Express is a good example of how infracstrure project should be done in timely manner without cost over exceeding and delays.Compare this Project with Nairobi western bypass that being going on for over 4 yrs and still going on.
Western bypass is on schedule and it's being done by the same contractor doing the expressway. Waiyaki way expansion, to Rironi, is the mother of all road delays. Albeit it being delayed due to legal cases arising from the compulsory land acquisition process.
This is soo inspiring......Drone footage soo dope i should come for tips.
I just started a channel . You are my Inspiration. Good Job.

Great content African Traveller. Your videographer is absolutely amazing. Great drone shots and pictures. A small correction though. The cost is $62 MILLION, not Billion.
Greetings Afrikan Traveller, the Chinese are doing excellent job in building Kenya's express project for a heavy price on Kenya's part. I do hope that the Kenyan government is able to pay back the loans or get ready for Chinese rulership and governance in Kenya as the writing is on wall, however the blind can't see. Thanks for sharing.
Even those who insulted Uhuru when he decided to build the road are now happy. Kenyans are hypocrites. Including Ruto who is the DP but criticized Uhuru and said the project is a waste of money
Boss you are just happy coz of beauty but don't question the cost, repayment structure, viability as opposed to a light rail
@@TateKibe It's a ppp..give us a break
@@carefree4271 lol endelea kusema give me a break. If u with all your knowledge can believe that someone will invest 60 billion shillings so that they can recover the 60 billion in 30 years I have a few plots to sell to you. But let me let experience do the teaching. The project is great but will Kenyans afford it? Most no . So let's enjoy it we will be revisiting the ppp part soon
Project is good but over priced. Even with the cost that was initially suggested it could have constructed the road.

Great presentation, great music 💪💪
My only concern is the aesthetics. Especially the greenery. The should have trees planted below the under pass on the sides and under the under pass short trees, grass and flowers
That can only be done at the tail end of the project. Already the express way has a ready tree/flower nursery ready for transplant. It is part of the project.
Amazing update
Nice video and loving your channel ...but you mentioned the project is 62 billion dollars... just to correct you there,it is estimated to cost around 599 million usd (ksh 65.2 billion)

Hey Afrikan traveller, this is great. I really need your help about travelling with a drone to Kenya. I know you have experience- do we need a special permit if it's an organization coming to do some filming work? I will appreciate your help on this
Just check the govt website and get the necessary permits.
Check out the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority online, they're the ones giving out drone licenses.
Hey Edinah, yes you should have a permit before landing. More details as they say you will find it on the Kenya Civil Aviation Site.
What's the weight of the drone?
Kama sijaingia hapa silalangi. Big up from Thailand.
Not US$62B sir, it's Ksh 62B
Next time explain the area, eg from James Gichuru to Westlands and show the section
Awesome Drone Footage.
Very nice work only mistake I see is going from a 6 to a 4 lane creating a funnel which creates traffic like we had for years on langata road. Lets see how it goes. Nice project for the investor and those who will use it.
Wow🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 I like what I'm seeing 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍

I've been eagerly waiting for your latest video on this project, but unfortunately I find this particular one rather underwhelming. That's because you've always set your bar really high I beg you to do a thorough, possibly award-winning, video on this sir. The entire stretch from Mololongo to Kangemi. If possible, even twice monthly updates. I'm only asking because I don't know of anyone else who can do a better job than you. You're the best in the business as far as I'm concerned. I'm a great admirer of your work.
This is a good quality video. I have objections though on the project being documented. I'm just not sure if Kenyans want to have that discussion. Great video nonetheless.
Mbona inaanza kama movie kiplani 🤔🤔🤔👌

Appriciate.
What did you use to measure the 64%.
Actually the project cost is $ 620M, not $ 62B
kudos, its $600 million

Thanks Bro.
It literally snakes its way through the city from above nice views.
Kabisa, thank you.
hey i think you meant the cost of the project will be ksh 62 billion not $62 billion if i heard correct.
Sorry missed that part.
I really appreciate your videos @Afrikan Traveller, keep doing what you do. However, the reverse shots are very distracting. Not to insult the creativity behind the editing, and noticing that every person has their own creative taste; I think the reverse shots might work well for music videos but not for these informative documentary style videos.
The red volcanic soil really stains the road.
As always😀 that's why Mt. Kenya Towns always look Rusty.
If an effort was made to clean up after construction, we could see less of this patina..
