Nanyuki: 1. I remember going to tree trout in the early 2000s, i think it was either in 2002, 2003 or 2004, when i was in primary school. Haven't bothered to go back but great to see its still there and still doing well, evidently. 2. My favourite spot in Nanyuki is Mount Kenya Safari Club. That place is just too beautiful and amazing. Too many things to do. They even have an animal orphanage. I even got a chance to ride a tortoise and touch a cheetah. I mean where else in the world? Was there in christmas of 2017. 3. The golf club is also another good joint to chill. It has breathtaking views of Mt Kenya. If you are there please ask for the club special drink. Its quite sweet so my case I normally add extra ice and sparkling water so ease on the sweetness, but its a great drink. 4. Been to Ol Pejeta too and it was amazing too, I guess that was 2007. All in all, I love Nanyuki.
I am from Denmark, and every single time I have visited Kenya, I have walked the streets of Nanyuki. I recognize almost every street from that drone footage, and I have at least one memory from almost every corner of Nanyuki. My second home. I have been crying my heart out in central park, because of my ex-girlfriend leaving me, I have been holding hands with my current girlfriend though town, I have been chatting under the stars at the parking lot in Cedar Mall... I could even spot the very specific place where I greeted my current girlfriend of now 3 years for the first time, on that drone footage! ... Even the bench I was sitting at while eating at Trout Tree with my current girlfriend shortly after we fell in love - that bench was featured as well in this video! - I can remember so many few small, funny, dramatic, weird and interesting memories from all those streets I see. Thank you so much for the drone footage, that was so interesting to watch! *Here's the background story:* I love Nanyuki, my second hometown. And I have quite a story to tell. I am from Denmark, but I have a girlfriend that lives in Nanyuki... My relation to that town dates back to 2014 where I visited Kenya for the first time with my high school for a sustainability project. We stayed at "Global Platform" at Daraja about 20 km from town. Most people in Nanyuki probably know of Daraja... It's where all the foreign students go and stay when they visit Kenya... That was just for a week, however... In 2017 I went back on a Global Citizen Course at Daraja, we stayed for three months, and visited Nanyuki several times, and made several friends from there, especially from th Youth Hub now called Red Cross. I also met my ex-girlfriend in Nanyuki through my Kenyan friends... Just outside the fence of Daraja, I also made friends with a man and his wife and children living in a simple stone house, who used to host me there when I visited Kenya. I revisited Nanyuki in December 2017 to see my ex-girlfriend and I was hosted the same family while staying there for 3 weeks. Drama happened - she was actually still in a relationship with her so-called "ex-boyfriend", and eventually we (as in me and him) both found out, agreed not to hate each other for that, and ultimately, she decided to be with him, and apologize for breaking my heart. I was naive and believed her when she said later she broke up with him for good, and my heart already forgave her. But he came back into her life, and this happened a few times... In July 2018 I went to Kenya while she really promised me this time it was over between him and her, and the relationship had been abusive etc... I went there with my mom, the same man hosted me and my ex-girlfriend in his house while my mom slept at hotels. Me and my mom proceeded to Zanzibar, and eventually there, news broke she was still with that guy, and she had broken up with me... At least this time, it was the last time, she had to break my heart... In March 2019 I went back yet another time to Kenya to stay at my friend's house with his family, while being an internship teacher at a nearby Primary School called Ol Girigiri. Later my kenyan friends introduced me to a girl named Josylyne. Me and Josylyne became friends, she understood I was still going through difficult times because of my ex-girlfriend, she protected me ... She really saw the best in me, and we became more than friends. She lived in Nanyuki, and I moved from my friend's house to her brother's home where me and her stayed. Eventually I lost my friendship to the man who used to host me, because of some money issues. But now I had a whole new reason to visit Kenya, my new and wonderful girlfriend Josylyne, who was so real with me. Josylyne visited me in Denmark for three months between November 2019 and February 2020. Then corona prevented us from seeing each other for long... In October 2021, I visited Kenya for the 6th time, and stayed for 10 days in my girlfriend's home 2,5 km's from town. We hadn't seen each other for 1,5 years, and she didn't know I was coming. Her friend helped me plan the whole arrival to her home, where she was told she was going to be given a gift, and she had to be blindfolded. When she removed her blindfold, I was right in front of her! She screamed, ran away, came back, gave me a long hug and started crying! Today, I am currently looking for flight tickets to visit Kenya in July for my 7th time when I have my summer holiday. Planning to stay around 1,5 months this time. And I can't wait to come back!
I decided to move out of Nairobi in 2018.. Came to Nanyuki and have never regretted my decision one bit.. There is just something about this place that is so unique
Kabisa Nanyuki is Town with many side, for me Nanyuki is home , I have been there in September for three weeks, we enjoyed a lot, Sweet waters is very near. I love Nanyuki.
Hey what's up, I am looking to leave Nairobi to live in Nanyuki, would you mind giving me some ideas and tips? especially Like how much houses go for, where to look for houses and places to chill and make new friends?
I agree, the infrastructure is underwhelming. Streets not tarmacked, low piped water coverage, and even the Airstrip is nothing really to write home about. But also remember Nanyuki is really at the the proverbial "crossroads", a few metres you are in Meru, a few metres you are in Nyeri.
With so many resources available, I bet it's the county government of Laikipia that is sleeping on the job. Meru County on the other side of the mountain is more developed & has better management.
If you are looking for a place to move to, Nanyuki has plenty of advantages: perfect weather throughout the year, amazing estates such as Mukima Development, incredible roads (with no traffic), an airstrip, and a premium health facility that is Nanyuki Cottage Hospital.
Pop in to our offices at The Pearl Place (Opposite Max-Oil) next time you're around. We're a tour and travel company based in Nanyuki. Maybe we can panga a Day Trip to the many attractions Nanyuki has to offer. Great video
Nanyuki also plays host army barracks including also the British soldiers (Johnnys) it's also home to Mt Kenya (only snow capped mountain in the equator), ol pajeta conservancy private owned reserve in Kenya that hosts the big five,(including free range rhinos) chimpanzee, sanctuary notable hotels are also found here like the famous sport man's arms, trout tree (famous) and other affordable establishment, road trip to this town is worth trying for sure nanyuki is a gem
@ maryjohn - 🤔 You are Right about Nyeri Town. I went there after 20 years and I was Shocked to See Very Little Development just Over the Side of KING'O'NG'O PRISON. I went to High School in NYERI HIGH. I feel Sorry for NYERI - The Same WHITE RHINO HOTEL, GREEN HILLS HOTEL, CENTRAL HOTEL, NYERI GOLF COURSE and a Few More. POOR NYERI TOWN. 😏😏😏

you can say Nanyuki is unique in that its shared by three counties. like somebody lives in meru county, works in nyeri county and goes through and shops in laikipia county and still, he is nanyukian...
I love Nanyuki! It has to be my favorite retirement place in Kenya but one major concern is the segregationist way of life in the area. I’ve lived amongst white people who thanks to money and power feel more entitled than you to a host of things. We shot Kwame’s video “Mapenzi Yako” in Thome & Nanyuki town and I got to ask the locals about the interaction between whites & natives. The divide is there but we act or turn our heads away, being discriminated against in a foreign land for example in Europe is one thing but in your own land that’s unacceptable. What I saw in Nanyuki was so similar to what I viewed in South Africa where a immigrant minority owns majority of the land in a surrounding area.

For the status that Nanyuki carries…. Is it just me, or do I feel it’s underdeveloped?
His drone shots were basically on one area, the rest is blocked from flying drones
If you fly the Drone on the Red zone , the military takes Control of your Drone and they can even Crash it .
Yap! That's life when you have the British, Kenyan and US army camps as neighbors, to enjoy Nanyuki, show up the night life is E.L.E.C.T.R.I.C!

That's a crucial point, the government should take that initiative to upgrade them into city.
